Bhuta Shuddhi

Dear swamy,

Want to know how bhuta shuddhi is done. Because Adiyen read that, in one of the texts published by a Sri Vaishnava, the sthula shareeram is burnt with Agni beejam and the ashes are immersed in Ganga.
I wonder how the sthula shareeram can be burnt!!
Also he elaborated that the paramatma and atma are taken out and repositioned inside the body.
So curious to know as I am intending to undergo that.

PS : For those of you who don’t know about it, it is said to be a complicated procedure done to make the body fit for kainkaryam. The body is restored to its original state in which the tanmatras were working properly.

Namaskaram Ram Swami,

First of all Sthula Shareerma means “Our Present Visible body”. Sookshma Shareeram is not visible where Athma resides, which in-turn is inside this Sthula shareeram. So, it will be burnt when naturally once anyone leaves their Sthula shareeram, So there is no wonder how Sthula shareeram will be burnt.

 

Eiether way, coming back to devareer’s post “Also he elaborated that the paramatma and atma are taken out and repositioned inside the body. So curious to know as I am intending to undergo that.”

நல்லா இருக்கிற உடம்புல, பரமாத்மாவையும் ஜீவாத்மாவையும் “taken out and repositioned” பண்ணறாங்களா? யாரு ஸ்வாமி? 

Adiyen will say one thing with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi SriKrishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham, 

ஆச்சார்யா இராமானுஜரை கும்பிடாம, பெருமாளை மட்டும் கும்பிடறவங்களிடம் கொஞ்சம் ஜாக்கிரதையாக இருக்க வேண்டும் .

ஏன் என்றால், ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ண பகவான் அர்ஜுனரை பகவத் கீதை சொல்லி குழப்பின மாதிரி நம்மையும் குழப்புவாங்க. அப்புறம் அர்ஜுனர் ஷரணாகதியும் பண்ணல மோக்ஷமமும் போகல.

There is a reference from Ramanuja NoorthAndhaadhi Paasuram 14 by Swami ThiruArangath Amudhanaar, where Swami says “NOT TO TORTURE ANY OF THE BODY PARTS FOR KAINKARYAM OR MOKSHAM, JUST SAY SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA, THEN SWAMI WILL DELIVER US BOTH WITH HIS KRUPAI” as adiyen highlighted in the paasuram below image..

ஸ்வாமி இராமானுஜர் திருவடி பலத்தால், ஆச்சார்யா க்ருபயால், வேளுக்குடி ஸ்வாமி நிழலில் இருக்கும் போது, எதற்கு இந்த விஷ பரீட்சை ராம் ஸ்வாமி. இருக்கிற காலத்தை நிம்மதியாக கழிச்சிட்டு மோக்ஷம் கிளம்புங்க ஸ்வாமி

Also please read the last line conclusion in the paasuram 14 above image by ThiruArangath Amudhanaar as “உடையவரின் திருவடி தொடர்பு கிட்டிய பின்னர், வேறு பயன் கருதி எந்தச் செயல்களிலும் ஈடுபட வேண்டியதில்லை என்பதாகும்”. So adiyen request devareer not to indulge in another unnecessary activity in the name of kainkaryam.

Let’s say someone has to go from Chennai to Delhi today at the earliest. They are near the airport, ready to leave and have a business class ticket in the best airline that will leave in the next 1 hour with escort service and VIP entry, why would they even look at other options. 

Similarly, we prapannaas have Udayavar’s airline, are fortunate to have a ticket from our Acharya, the guidance of our Velukkudi Swami, Divya prabhandams as our reading material and bhagavad / bhagavatha kaimkariyam to pass our time, adiyen doesn’t see a reason why we have to look at other things. 

But one good thing, these kinds of questions leads us to enjoy more of our alwargal amudam 🙂

So reposting it with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham.

 

There are two instances in “GuruParamparai pravaham”.

1) Incident 1: Swami Nanjeeyar who is a shishya of Swami Parasara Bhattar, one day got Sanyasa Ashramam. Swami Thirumalai AnathAzhwan Pillai who is another sishya of Swami Ramanujar came to know about this and advised Swami Nanjeeyar that பசிக்கும் பொது புசித்து, வியர்க்கும் பொது குளித்து, பாட்டர் திருவடிகளே சரணம் என்று இருந்தால் உங்க பெருமாள் உமக்கு மோக்ஷம் குடுக்க மாட்டாரோ “(Pasikkum podhu pusithu, Viyarkkum podhu kulithu, Bhattar Thiruvadigalaey Sharanam yendru irundhaal, Unga Perumal umakku Moksham kudukka maataaro)”, means, “After prapatti, if you eat when you are hungry & take bath when you feel sweating, and say your Acharyan Thiruvadigalaey Sharanam as Bhattar Thiruvadigalaey Sharanam, won’t your Perumal give you Moksham”. That is the power of Acharyar ThiruvAdi, so where is question about another upayam for Kainkaryam and Moksham. We don’t need. So just relax”.

2) Incident 2: Swami Nanjeeyar’s shishyar was lying in bed in his last days to leave to Moksham. At that time, he asked Swami Nanjeeyar that “he has Detached himslef in last few years from family clutches, and then Attached himself in service to BhagavAn and Acharyas, so is this enough to get Moksham”. Swami Nanjeeyar became upset after hearing this and said to him, “so far after listening to all Kalakshepam and Upanyasam, is this the understanding that you got in the last minute while you are in bed“.

Swami Nanjeeyar said உன்னை விட வைத்து பற்ற வய்த்த அவன் திருவடிகளே உபாயம் ”Unnai Vida vaithu Pattra vaitha Avan ThiruvAdigalaey Upaayam”, means Detachment on one route(upayam) or Attachment on another route(upayam) is not the means to Moksham, but the ThiruvAdi of Perumal which we got through Acharyar Ramanujar Sambhandham is the only route(upayam) to Kainkaryam & Moksham.

 

Let “Acharyars be Acharyars” & “Alwars be Alwars” and lets all be in Alwars/ Acharyars ThiruvAdi Nizhal and continue our Acharam/Anushtanam and Kainkaryam for just the joy of doing it in the rest of this life with YATHA SHAKTHI (to the capacity of whatever we possess) without Apacharam, we will get Moksham under the category as Agyar.

 

So don’t worry Ram Swami about other complicated routes for Kainkaryam and Moksham, “UYYA ORAEY VAZHI UDAYAVAR THIRUVADI”,

This procedure Bhuta Shuddhi also forms a part of the  

daily Tiruvaradanam as per Ahobila Mutt tradition it seems.

 

Thanks for reminding again that Udayavar sambandham is more important than perumal sambandham. Having said so adiyen would also like to say that the desire to undergo the procedure arose in adiyen’s mind as adiyen thought it would lead to enjoying of the bhagavan as antharyami. Hope it would be understood as adiyen’s wish to enjoy bhagavan. And not a simple loukika wish.

Some yearn to derive happiness from reading Divya prabhandam some from Tiruvaradanam and so on. What is one’s own yearning or longing differs form each person. As adiyen’s yearning is oriented towards such a wish it does not appear to be a difficult or painful procedure for me.

@Ram2000 what devareer said was correct but wordings made it sound little hilarious.

Yes, adiyen’s therinja ahobhila BadriNarayana mama does butha shuddhi daily in thiruvaradhanam after retirement

Its fully mind related. There is no physical burning etc as it sounds

For example:
Anga nyasam
Kara nyasam

Will be done in sandhyavandhanam
Not everybody says
Bhargo devasyai shikAyai vowshat
Dheemahi bhalaya kavachAya hoom
Dheeyona thejase nethrAbyam…

In fact for that mama his father who is conferred title “Veda kula tilaka” “Shrowthi kula tilaka” did not teach such nyAsam to that swamy because it has higher importance (or for some strange reason)

Till today that swamy don’t know why it was not taught by his own gather and swamy did not dare to ask

Kathu kudutha pannalam illati pdathu
That’s it

That’s how our sampradhayam has been working for so long

Its better to follow what our acharyas say to us
