Recently one of my relative who is a tenkalai got bharanyasam. After this incident, I have the following doubts. I request bhagavatas in this forum to clear?

1) சரணாகதி என்பது ஒரு விஷயத்திற்கு ஒரு முறை தானே செய்ய வேண்டும். ராமாநுஜர் ஏற்கெனவே தன் திருவடி சம்பந்திகளுக்காக சரணாகதி செய்து விட்டார். இப்போது நாம் புதிதாக சரணாகதி செய்தால், நாம் இரண்டு முறை செய்ததாக ஆகி விடாதா ?

2)ராமாநுஜர் நமக்காக சரணாகதி செய்தார். அதை இறைவனும் ஏற்று கொண்டு அனுக்கிரஹித்தார் என்று நாம் உறுதியாக நம்புகிறோம். இப்போது நாம் புதிதாக நமக்கென்று பரண்யாஸம் செய்து கொண்டால், ராமாநுஜர் நமக்காக செய்த சரணாகதியில் நமக்கு நம்பிக்கை இல்லாததனால் தான் நாம் செய்கிறோம் என்று ஆகாதா ?

அடியேன் ஏதாவது தவறாக கூறியிருந்தால் கருணையின் வடிவான பாகவதர்கள் அடியேனை மன்னிக்கவும் ?

அடியேன் வரவரமுனி ப்ருத்ய தாஸன் ?

And did Ramanuja any where asked his sishyas to do bharanyasam ??

In his last word’s swamy ramanujar says (for attainig moksha):

1)Study Sri Bhashya-share this with others.
2) If not study Namalwar’s Divya Prabhandam-Titruvai Mozhi 3)If even this is not possible live in a cottage at Yadhavathri. 4)Even this is not possible in your place itself utter his namavali.
5)Even that is not possible catch hold of a true Vaishnavan and follow him.

No where he mentioned to do bharanyasam. He said , ” stay at the feet of a sri vaishnava “.
?That’s why in Thenkalai a person become prapanna at the time of pancha samskaram itself as he got ramanujar thiruvadi sambandham.
?That’s why Thenkalai don’t do prapatti by their own nor do bhakti yoga. Instead take refuge on acharyan thiruvadi as said by ramanujar.

This theory was briefly explained by swami pillai lokacharyar in his works.
” ஆசாரியன் திருவடிகளே கதி என்று இருக்க வேண்டும் “.

Moreover swamy pillai lokacharyar says in his work :

?சரணாகதி செய்து விட்டால், தனக்கு நிச்சயம்‌ மோக்ஷம் கிடைத்து விடும் என்ற அஹங்காரம் வந்து விடும். ( Although not appilacable to all bhagavatas )

?சரணாகதி செய்வதை விட ஆசாரியன் திருவடிகளே சரணம் என்று இருப்பது தான் சிறந்த தன்மை.

There are many flaws in devareer’s question from adiyen’s perspective as Vadakalai

1. Vadakalai / Thenkalai AchAryAs who are they?

They are all Ramanuja Sambandhis.
” Sri Bhagavath Ramanuja SiddhAntha NirdhAraka SArva Bowmars”

2. My counter question:
We all are aware we are Ramanuja Sambandhis by listening to Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy’s upanyasam then
“Self declaration” is good enough why even SamAshrayanam by Tenkalai AchAryAs?

Ramanujar photo pAthu SevichA podhAdhA? Enna voi question idhu? Badhil sollum.

3. Exceptions are not examples. Individual’s easoning may take priority. It is not “wrong” to take BharanyAsam.

1) Yes, all vadakalai and Thenkalai acharyas are ramanuja sambandhis and this is a well known fact by everyone.

2) How do we get Ramanuja sambandham? Only By taking pancha samskaram under any one of the acharyas hailing from 74 simhasanadipatis. This was the rule ordered by ramanuja.

After sharanagati on panguni uthiram day, Bhagavath ramanuja established 74 simhasanadipatis to do pancha samskaram.
Those who got pancha samskaram they will be connected with ramanuja. Pancha samskaram is a must because, it was ordered by ramanujar himself.

? Did ramanuja anywhere insisted “Bharanyasam ” ?

?Did ramanuja anywhere asked those 74 simhasanadipatis to perform “Bharanyasam “?

?Did ramanuja anywhere asked his sambandhis to undergo bharanyasam ?

3) Yes swamy, there is nothing wrong in taking bharanyasam but the question was ” Did ramanuja anywhere insisted his sambandhis to undergo bharanyasam ?”

( Note : My objective is not to raise thenkalai or vadakalai issue, as we all are ramanuja sambandhis. But my motive is to know the reason, objective and the pramana from ramanujar’s work )

Swamy Desikan would have compared even Sri Adi Shankarar to do:

“Para Matha Bhangam”
“Shatha Dushani”

Swamy Desikan is – Tirumalai Ghanta AvathAram
Swamy Desikan is – Sarva Tantra Swathanthrar awarded by ThAyAr herself

Swamy Desikan goes by Ramanujar’s footsteps

Also the differential thinking arise that is why a Kalai itself was formed

Then Kalai = SriRangam (South)
Vada Kalai = Kanchipuram (North)

Adiyen understand devareer’s question lately but initially it sounded as if BharanyAsam was something not specified by Udayavar , so why such practice?

Hope my Acharyan would have clarified:
“nin adiye ninaindhu irundheney” – paadalai (nyAnAn Moksha:)
“Nin adi keezh amarndhu pugundhEnEy” – idhukku mela enna venum?

So an effort from our end is required.

Please listen to audio repeatedly, devareer might get additional answers.

The question should have been more open ended what is the significance of “BharanyAsam”?

Before BharanyAsam – Perumal kitta en AchAryan utharavu keppar

Enakku first utharavu kidaikala – Perumalukku adiyen Mela avlo kobam nu ninaikaren.

Few weeks later, second time, after my Acharyan’s repeated request to Perumal adiyen got utharavu. May be my AchAryan would have pleaded , “indha payyana naan nal Vazhi padutharen”.

Adiyen strongly believe in BharanyAsam. I haven’t told this secret to anyone..Even to my wife. As this EnPaNi is precious I am telling to everyone.

BharanyAsam is not simple procedure. It has some direct interaction with Perumal.
