Very imp question: Athma Gyanam is based on external input or internal input?

Updated on July 31, 2017 in Good qualities for human

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Athma is anAdi beginningless. Athma is swayam prakAshika (self illuminating). Athma does not contain knowledge but Athma itself is knowledge. Athma covered by Karma bound shareeram.

The process of exploring/realizing knowledge is inward okay.

Question is, to begin this inward journey an external input or invocation is required? That being vedic proof (veda pramAnams).

Is it correct to say, Athma is self aware that includes Veda already so an unrealized soul can start travel on its own as he already knows veda?

Adiyen don’t think so. If soul is already self aware what’s the need of the journey?

There is a gross misconception that Athma knows everything and no need to ask anyone anything.

Even if this is the case, this information is coming from outside right?

When someone says Aham Brahmasmi, I would aak “you knew it from your Guru or external source”. If you had been self aware why you need someone to remind you “Aham brahmasmi”?

Is adiyen’s argument as per vishistAdvaita siddhanthA?
Please clarify Swami

Advance apologies Swami
Adiyen’s small toungue talking big language

Hare Krishna! Dandavat Pranam!

Dear Vikram Swami – Aneka kodi namaskaram. Adiyen would like to share few words.

If someone asks, what is the taste of honey ? the answer is ‘sweet’. If the person asks, what is ‘sweet’ ? no answer can help here but it can only be ‘experienced’. Adiyen was also asking many similar questions and finally realized that the questions are raised by ‘mind’ through ‘intelligence’ as an attempt to understand God. God can not be understood (through intelligence) but can only be realized (through love). Why ? to know what is sweet, sweet stuff should be put into the mouth and ‘experienced’. No matter, how many (endless) definitions we read about sweet, that can not substitute what we go through (a.k.a experience) when we actually eat it.

So Adiyen humbly suggests to practice ‘Bakti’ (please refer different stages of devotional service) while keeping the questions aside. When we are sincere in Bakti, then lord showers mercy thereby we experience Sriman Narayana / Sri Krishna and all the questions subside.

Ethenum thavaru irunthaal, adiyenai manikkavum.

Hare Krishna! Dandavat Pranam!

Manikkanum swami, Adiyen misunderstood the question for something else. Will listen to swami’s answer.

If Adiyen can add one point to the topic, Aatma is self-aware but covered by ‘Ahankaram’. Ahankaram needs external source/inputs in order to be suppressed.

Ethenum thavaru irunthaal Adiyenai mannikkavum, will listen to Swami’s answer.

Swami,
Devareer adiyenai mannikavum, aneka koti pranaamams. Dasanudasan.
Adiyen took your precious time. Adiyen would have elaborated or further discussed this topic but Velukkudi Swamin answered it.

Thought it would be appropriate not to talk more than that, adhan close panniten.

Hare Krishna! Aneka koti namaskaram Swami!

No swami, Adiyen honestly meant the apology for Adiyen misunderstood the question. Adiyen is not born vaishnavite but by choice & lord’s mercy, Adiyen follows vaishnavishm. Adieyn was influenced by different philosophies, attempted reading upanishads and burnt fingers. And then surrendered to the lord sri Krishna, so in an urge to help others, sometimes, Adiyen misunderstands genuine questions for ‘intellectual’ attempts to decode the design (especially since Swami raises many questions that exactly mimics Adiyens questions in the past).

So Adiyens response is certainly not on Swami’s short response, but on Adiyen’s response itself for there is gross misunderstanding of the question.

Adiyen is struggling to deal with ‘Ahankaram’ more than any one else, so Swami can very well help Adiyen by forgiving the mistake(s).

Dhanyosmi
Let’s keep discussing and stay with emperuman
Ahankaram and mamakaram will stay away from bhaagavathaas when discussing about perumal

Adiyen raise many of these questions first to prove Srivaishnavites are not blind followers.

They can counter any kind of attempt to defeat our sampradhayam even babies in sampradhayam like adiyen

Adiyen just a small dust of SriVelukkudi Swamy’s paduka and my such attempt or nowhere near anything my Swamy does.

Why am doing this because after listening for so many years we need to measure where we are. Just like we attend interviews to know where are in the market.

Did we attain some level of maturity? What have we gained? What have we lost?

Adiyen’s question will be of athiga prasangi thanam but each will have a solid reason. It’s like self cleansing and nothing else.

We need to keep discussing about perumal always as we don’t know when we will depart.

Adiyen

Would like to quote Krishna Premi Anna here

There are two benefits when discussing about perumal
1. We are in good path
2 We stay away from bad path
