Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha

Sri Dasarathiye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Dear BhagavAta,

Adiyen would like to share Swami’s words from upanyasams as much as possible.

Please pardon adiyen for any errors.

Swami says, Guru Paramparai includes Acharyas and Bhaktakargal and Saadhu sangamam/Satvika Satsangam. So adiyen believe, the Characteristics of Saadhu Sangamam/Satvika Satsangam is being followed by all Acharyas and all Bhaktas in common.

Swami says a beautiful Slokam regarding this Saadhu sangamam/Sathvika Satsangam.

Samsara Visha VrikshasyA,

Dvo Phalegi Amrithopame

Kathachitu Keseva Bhakthihi

Tath Bhaktairva Samagaha

Meaning:

Line1: Samsaram is Visha Maram (Poison Tree)

Line2: Only two Amritha/Sweet Fruits reap out of that Poison Tree, remaining countless fruits are Visham to be avoided.

Line3: One Amritha Fruit is Kesava Bhakthi

Line4: Second Amritha Fruit is Avan (Kesavan) Adiyargaludan Seardndhu Iruthhal (Acharyas/BhagavAtas)

**************************************

Swami says that, Swami Ramanujar used to tell this Slokam in HIS Kalakshepam and Explain as “Is Kesava Bhakthi Mukkiyama (Important) or Avan Adiyargaludan Searndhu (Satsangam) Iruppadhu Mukkiyama?

Swami Ramanujar concludes that Bhakthargaludan Serndhu (Sadhu sangamam/ Satsangam) Iruppadhu Dhaan Mukkiyamaana Amritha Fruit and If Sadhu Sangamam (Satvika Satsangam) kidaikkalenna, then Ponaal pogudhu yendru Kesavanoda Serndhu Irukkalaam yendru.

Swami says, the reason is, Oru BhagavAthan thaane namakku BhagavAnai Pattri solli kuduthadhu, ellai yendral BhagavAnai Pattri naam yeppadi Therindhu kolla mudiyum.

Adhunaalaey Kesavana Bhakthi’yai vida, Bhakthargaludan Saadhu Sanagam/Satvika Satsangam dhaan Mukkiyam.

Swami says, those who are doing Kesava Bhakthi directly or Don’t do any Kesava Bhakthi at all, for them Perumal will give Inbham/Thunbham back-to-back (NirAnkusa Swathantriyam/no one can question HIS Independence).

Eg: Dharma Puthiran (Kesava Bhakthi) was very close to SriKrishna, but he suffered till end, and Duryodhanan with no Bhakthi to Kesava lived with no Kashtam till end and did all atrocities.

So, we started doubting BhagavAn, Perumal/SriKrishna that, AVAR yaaru kitta yeppadi iruppaar yendru namakku purindhu kollavaey mudiyaadhu, and start asking questions, Why HE made be born, why HE is making me Suffer when I’m in HIS lotus feet. This is Manushya Bhuddhi. Kadavulayaey Naam sandheha (doubht) paduvadhaal, SriKrishna backs-off and will not clear our doubhts/sufferings, and instead HE expects us to read and follow Shastras by ourselves and have MahaVishwasam on HIM.

But Acharyas/BhagavAtas consolidates other Bhakta’s and builds MahaVishwasam on BhagavAn ThiruvAdi and explains that, this samsaram nature is Thunbham only, Don’t worry, We all are like that due to our Karmas. Meantime, Acharyas/BhagavAtas keep us engaged in BhagavAt VIshayam/Santrorgal Vaibhavam as Time-Pass, till we reach SriVaikuntam Permanently with Acharya Krupai.

Swami says, What should we do In Saadhu Samagamam/Satvika Satsangam (in home or outside, should be ALWAYS)

* BhagavAnai Pattri Mattum Pease-Pease (talk), Namma ‘Bhayam Poghum’ (so to be DONE FULLY)

[Nammai Pattri Pease-Pease (talk), Namakku ‘Bhayam Varum’ (so to be AVOIDED TOTALLY)

Nammai Pattri Peasevadhu means, Vambhu paesuvadhu, Kurai paaseuvadhu, Lowkikam Paesuvadhu in Satsangam etc..]

***********************

Swami says, a bird sitting on top of the pole in a Ship in the middle of the ocean thinks, why I should sit on this top of this pole only, let me fly myself and explore the ocean and then starts flying. After few miles of flying, the fear starts building in the bird, since there is only ocean below to be seen all around and no land to be seen at all and brid don’t have energy to fly further, then it immediately realizes its mistake and comes back to the same ‘Pole’ and sits quietly till ‘Ship’ crosses the ‘Ocean’ and reaches the ‘Shore’.

* Pole is the Acharyas/BhagavAta Satsangam

* Ship is BhagavAn

* Ocean is the Samsaram

* Shore is the SriVaikuntam

**********************

Adiyen’s conclusion based on the Swami’s above slokam is, Sriman NarayanAn (Kesavan/SriKrishna) ThiruvAdiyil Bhakthi seyvadhai vida, namakku BhagavAanai Pattri Solli kuduttha Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami ThiruvAdiyum, Asmadh Acharyan ThiruvAdiyum, Swami Ramanujar ThiruvAdiyum, PoorvAcharyargal ThiruvAdiye AMRITHAM/SWEET fruit yendru iruppomaaga.

Dear Bhakta,

Very nice references for importance of Sadhu sangamam.

With regards of  how to characterize and know if something is sadhu sangamam or not we can use the following sloka as reference

“mac-cittā mad-gata-prāṇā
bodhayantaḥ parasparam
kathayantaś ca māḿ nityaḿ
tuṣyanti ca ramanti ca
The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about Me.”

Wherever this is being followed (without any other talk or discussion  benefiting for materialistic life) such a sangam is a sadhu sangam.

Adiyen
