Namaskaram.

After taking Pancha samskaram, whether one can take up Meditation on Lord Narayanan. Will it be necessary for a prapannan?. Will it help further in the development in one’s spiritual journey?.  If it is helpful, request to provide the details / reference on how to take up meditation by a prapannan. Or I have to approach only the Acharyan.

Srimate Raamanujaye Namaha,

Swamy please hear from 2:50.00 to 3.00:00 , on how Parksihit Maharaj was asked to meditate.

Swamy,

Thank you for providing the details. I listened to the time frame indicated. Swamy is explaining about surrender and then meditation. But meditation to be done by a saranagathan is not mentioned there.

Srimate Raamanujaye Namaha

Jayaram swamy, Parkishit maharaj is a Saranagathan only.

Initially he was asked to meditate on the universal form of the Lord..which was difficult, then he was asked to meditate on the Archa vigraha of the Lord.

In vidura neethi , Swamy explains that we can sit in front of  the Archa vigraha and meditate with open eyes..slowly after some days when we have absorbed  well, we can meditate with closed eyes.

Yes, as indicated by udaiyavar Swamy, we can meditate on our relationship with Lord as well.

In fact 10th chapter of Bhagavat Gita is fully dedicated to how a common man can meditate on the Lord.. Lord explains some of His opulence that we can relate to in everyday life and hence can be absorbed or meditate on Him.

enpanifan swamy,

Wondering what mechanism, you are having w.r.to. recording of details, so that you are able to provide the reference without loss of time.

Thanks again for the details. In this video also meditation is not linked to surrender.

Parkishit maharaj is a Saranagathan only. From enpanifan

Noted.

Meditation is indicated in Bhakthi yoga. I raised this query, specifically since I understand, there is no meditation in the prapatti in which the soul is surrendered at the feet of Lord Narayana. But, since saranagathan is supposed to take up bhakthi yoga also, I thought, meditation can be done by the saranagathan. My mind is inclined towards meditation because of my earlier experience.

Generally, one is not expected to take up meditation on his own.

Srimate Ramaanujaye Namaha,

Sri Krishna within the heart inspires to hear some audios and connects it at right time to the events or questions around us..

Yes Meditation cannot be done as  means to attain Perumaal , for a saranagathan.

But as a past time and to spend time peacefully in gratitude one can do so.. and meditation does not mean just hard meditation.. but any concentrated action like hearing upanyasam, nama sankeerthanam, thiruvaaradhanam etc also qualify as meditation if done with proper absorption.

(The activities of One in Bhakthi yoga and a sarangathan are same..in bhakthi yoga those activities are meant to lead to the final detitanation.. but for a saranagathan the responsibility of leading to the destination lies with Acharyaa and Perumaal and the activity is done in a mood of gratitude)

Resp. Sri. Velukkudi krishnan swamy,

Thank you for taking your time and providing detailed clarification through enpani audio #2137. Very happy to get the response.

Since, my college days I used to worship as Brahmam even when I worship vigraha at temple, i.e., even before I took up meditation. I stopped meditation a few years back. I can comfortably think of Lord Narayanan (by name) and His qualities.  I am quite comfortable to think about Him through devotional songs and at times I get emotional also. But  my mind is yet to take His form to think and worship. I may have to force attempt. Kindly provide your suggestion.

Srimate Raamanujayae Namaha!

Swamy, coincidentally in Harivamsam audio 164, (in the middle of the audio)- King Janamejaya asks Vaisampayana rishi about questions on Dhayanam and yoga, how to do, who should do and who should not do..?

The answers may be covered in serval audios 164,165,and perhaps more.. Till 165 are posted now.

Srimate Ramaanujaye Namaha!,

Hope I can pass on these to my teachers and acharayas!

But real truthfulness is realizing our relationship with Krishna and acting on it ..but adiyen is still amidst bodily conception of life.. so still far away from the actual truth!

Srimate Ramaanujaye Namaha,

Swamy, in Harivamsam 168 and 169 Swamy explains in great detail of how the actual Patanjali yoga was decided (by Poorvacharyas)  as not suitable for this age for general mass of people considering the qualities of general people. The history was very interesting and sweet to hear.

Swami also explains how the same goal of fixing the mind on Bhagawaan can be achieved by  current direct bhakti practices – naama sankeertanam, divya prabandam recitation, nitya anusandhaanam, services to deities in home and temple etc. as it is easy for people of  this age.

Srimate Raaamanujaye Namaha,

In audio no 170 (Harivamsam) Swami gives a nice perspective of how yogam can be done even now, but in a different form suitable to this age( via nama sankeerthanam, hearing upanyasams, doing kainkaryam in temple  etc, along with nitya anushtaanam and nitya karma duties)

Another interesting perspective about saranagathi was also explained very nicely which is relevant to the previous thread..
