Srimathe ramanujaya namaha:
Swami, what are the poorna avatars of bhagavan?
Since, hayagriva avatar was an important avatar and a poorna avatar,why we are not including hayagriva avatar in dasavatharam?
Was danvanthri a poorna avatar?what are the reason for not including these poorna avatars in dasavatharam?

Also,I heard that some mutts and acharya lineage have their own dasavatharam .That is they will include poorna avatars like hayagriva,etc. And not avesha avatars.Can some one say that type of dasavatharam with only poorna avatars and not like parasurama,balarama,etc. ,

With Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham Abhimaanam, Adiyen will share few things:

Perumal’s Avataram is not limited to DasaAvataram, HE takes innumerable Poorna avatars. Why because? as said by Poorvacharyas as

உடையவனுக்கு பல முழுக்கு, உடமைக்கு ஒரு முழுக்கு.

Every Acharya and the lineage adorns every Poorna avatar of ParaVasudevan, but due to our limited Time and Shakthi in this world, we pray whichever few Poorna Avatars are close to our heart. It’s ones own liking.

 

But Parashurama and Bhalarama are not prayed by SriVaishnavas because they are Avesha Avatars (JeevAthma with Mishra Satvam, mixture of Rajas, Tamas, Satva) and they are NOT BhagavAn’s Direct Avatar, but Poorna Avatar of BhagavAn like Narasimha, Varaha, Hygreeva, Rama, Krishna, Koorma, Matsya, AmaraPrabhu (A Tree) are DIRECT PARAMATHMA with SUDDHA SATVAM (no Rajas/tamas).

 

In Sampradhayam, there is a theme called

 “Yatha Upasana Thatha Phalam, what we pray is what we get“.

 

If we do Upasana on Parashuram we will get “Anger” as Phalam and then attornment by doing prayaschittam in Mahendragiri parvam by doing tapas. Do we need that, instead of focussing on Kainkaryam and Moksham.

 

If we do Upasana on Balarama, there is possibility that we can be “Alcoholic and have relationship with bad people”. Do we need that, instead of focussing on Kainkaryam and Moksham.

 

Why because they both are Mishra Satvam.

 

Reference from Srimadh Ramayanam and Mahabharat am

 

* Parashuram garva bhangam (anger dampening) was executed by SriRama, so Parashuram cannot be Poorna Avatar,
* Balarama consumed liquor with Dhuryodhana after Rajasuya yagjna  and tried to attack Bheema in climax for beating Dhuryodhana on his thighs without paying attention that the Poorna Avatar SriKrishna was on Pandavas side, so Balarama cannot be Poorna Avatar.
* Moreover, there is no neccessity for two Poorna avatars to meet each other, when one Poorna Avatar can establish Dharma, since BhagavAn gas Anantha Koti KalyanaGunas.

Since hayagrivar was an poorna avatar why didn’t our poorva acharya Not included hayagrivar in dasavatharam list but they included avesha avatharam why?

Whatever we see in Srirangam DasAvathAra Sannidhi is only classified ten avathArams.

Its like calling MannArgudi , Vaduvur are divya desams. AzhwAr than eera chollala pAdinA thAn adhu divya desam.

Buddha is also PerumaL’s kalla avAthAram. He is not qualified to be in the Top 10 list 😊

Some even quote shlokAs from purana saying, buddha is included in ten list. Adiyen not fully sure if those shlokAs really correct. Whether they are true or not.

Adiyen then decided NOT TO CARE.

ONLY RAMANUJAR SAYS IS CORRECT

Namaskaram Swami’s since this doubt is not just related to ‘G’ Swami but also many have it.

For further query the answer is already there in adiyen’s above post with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham Abhimaanam as:

So the devotees should ask a question to themselves on how to consolidate innumerable BhagavAn’s Poorna Avatars in a list of just 10. Is it possible? No correct?. so if one makes a list of 10 avatars, then some other avatars of BhagavAn has to be skipped correct?. So Each one may have their own 10 list only.

Moreover, there is no mention of the term “Dashavatara” in Puranas. This is a very modern term coined by the Bhakti Poet Jayadeva. So He included BhagavAN’s poorna Avatars plus the other two JeevathMA Avatars (Parashuram & Balaram) in his 10 list based on his Vaasana’s/Ruchi due to  his mixture of three gunas Satva/Rajas/Tamas. He, in his Ashtapadi had written about the Dashavatars, hence making this concept very famous. Its his liking and people who wanted to consider it are are following it.

People who has affinity towards others Jeevathma’s actions, let them adhere to it and make it popular as seen in the practical world, but when such list interferes with Oran Vazhi GuruParamparai Acharyas list based on Shastras, then those lists will the restructured to its original state with list of Poorna Avatars of BhagavAn only.

One may like Hayagreeva primarily, one may like Varaha primarily, one may like Narasimha primarily, one may like Rama primarily, one may like Krishna primarily etc…. It is their own Shishtacharam to do BhagavAt Anubhavam and None of Poorvacharyas has a dedicated 10 list of Perumals Avatars. They pray all Poorna Avatars and skip all other Avesha avatars. That’s why adiyen said in the above earlier post as “Every Acharya and the lineage adorns every Poorna avatar of ParaVasudevan, but due to our limited Time and Shakthi in this world, we pray whichever few Poorna Avatars are close to our heart. It’s ones own liking.” Swami Ramanujar, Swami Vedanta Desikar, Swami Manavaala Maamunigal were Hayagreeva Upasakars for Gyanam.

Yes, Dhanvantri, Buddha are also Poorna Avatar, but under this Poorna Avatar, there is a sub classification as “Leela Avatar” meant for a specific purpose only.

  • Dhanvantri came from the Samudhra Mandhanam (Churning of Milk Ocean) who is the BHagavAn of Auyurveda like Hayagreeva is BhagavAn of Knowledge who si the Guru of Saraswathi. Praying Dhanvantri will give us good health ONLY to utilize this body as a Tool to do Kainkaryam to BhagavAn. So the specific purpose of this avatar is to give us good health and not related to Athma Ujjivanam and Kainkaryam & Moksham. So it may be possible that Achrayas though consider Dhanvantri as BhagavAn’s poorna avatar, but don’t propagate it too much since we will end up in just asking health related stuffs and miss the Athma related stuffs, since Dhavantri BhagavAN doesn’t cater about Kainakryam and Moksham.
  • Buddha is also Poorna avatar of BhagavAn but meant for a special leela avatar purpose only. THis BUddha is not the recent Gautama BUddha, he is a different some saint. Anyway, Atharvana Veda has some portion like “Abhicharaka Karmas , basically doing Black Magic, Billi-Soonyam etc to bring enemies down, but people like Asuras who drink alchohol, eat meat, misused the Atharvana vedas for their benefit to bring down devas and caused destruction. So BhagavAn had to take a Special Purpose Avatar like Buddha to mesmerize teh Asuras by saying everything in Vedas is wrong, so that the Asuras can stop eating meat, stop alchohol, and reduce the effect of their BUddhi, so that they cannot chant Atharvana Vedas, hence the destruction doen by Asuras can be nullified.  So Acharyas though understand Buddha is BhagavAn himself, they don’t propagate it, since Buddha Avatar doesn’t cater about Kainkaryam and Moksham which is the purpose of our life, as Buddha Avtar was meant to address special people like Asuras. Hence the Buddha Philosophy though says, we should be Peaceful, no Praani Himsai, it is correct and already in our Sanatana Dharmam, but in-depth we cannot follow the Buddha Philosophy as it will reveal Vedas are not to be followed. After a later time, there were no Asuras, but the ordinary people started following the Buddha Philosophy strongly as “Vedas are not be followed”, so BhagavAn again thought, when the purpose of Buddha AVatar is established already by nullifying Asura SHakthi, now it is time to regenerate the Vedic studies, which was carried out by Adhi SankaracharyAr rigorously that Vedas are True & BrahmAm is the final GOD by following Abedha Shruthi of Upanishadhs, which and later more refined by Swami Ramanujar by following “Kataka Shruthi” of Vedas/Upanishadhs. So the present Buddhism people are good people, sicn they follow the Peacefulness, no Praani Himsai (from the portion of Vedas), but they are not fully aware why Buddha Avatar was taken by BhagvAn in the past due to Asuras misusing the Atharvana Vedas.

 

Regarding DhattAtreya, it is not BHagavAn’s Poorna Avatar, it is “GunaAvatar” under the classification of “Amshaavatar”, like BhagavAn SriVishnu has embodied himself in Brahma & Shiva refelcting three gunas Rajas, Satva & Tamas. Hence Dhattatreya is three faced with Brahm, Vishnu, Shiva. So Acharyas focus on Suddha Satvam Poorna Avatars only who caters about Kainakryma and Moksham only. May be that could be reason why in south side, Dhattreya is not followed much.

Also please note in NORTH India, Praying DhattAtreya is very famous within General Sanatana Dharma devotees, but there is also a more deeper SriVAishanas who follow One faced Dhatta “Ek Mukhi Dhatta” , just Satva Vishnu only. The Ek Mukhi Dattatreya temple is very ancient – almost 800 years old. Situated near the Vengurla town, this idol is said to have been brought from Narsimavadi. The idol here is one-headed, with four hands. There is yet another ancient temple in Kolhapur, situated inside the premises of the Vitthala temple near Mirajkar Tikatti.
The Ek Mukhi Datta temple of Narayanpur, Pune, is also very popular. This one is located at the bottom of the Purandar fort.

Our Poorvcharyas has hand picked what is good for us, so that we don’t get drifted in Samsaram. 

Shastra Roopena, Acharya Mukhena,

(Shastra Vazhiyaal, Acharyan Manadhaal)

Means, just Follow What Shastras has Shown us Through our PoorvAcharyas, is what Swami Ramanujar has shown us through our PoorvAcharyas, since all the ANALYSIS WAS ALREADY DONE BY SWAMI RAMANUJAR and we don’t need to REINVENT THE WHEEL, since Swami Ramanujar makes our life easier while in this Samsaram plus gives Kainkaryam and Moksham in this Janma. So SriKrishna says in BhagavAt Gita as “MaSuchahA (Dont Worry)“.  Hence we don’t need to worry about any 10 list floating around.

BhagavAn Sriman NarayanAn “Swaroopam (Gunam)” is same NO CHANGE but he takes different “Roopam (Appearence) based ones belief due to ones own taste (vaasanaas) and Karmas, so as to bring up belief in HIM through our own ruchi. Like BhagavAn wants everyone to do Kainkaryam to HIM, but does everyone has same thinking. No correct,veachbobe has different likings, like “Give me Gyanam, Give me money, Give me House, Give me health,……so on and finally a matured Athma asks Give me Kainkaryam, hence HE caters each one of HIS Gunas in each Roopam based in a Jeevathma’s Ruchi and Vaasanaas by taking Avatars for a specific purpose. So it is we (Jeevathma’s) responsible for HIM to take different avatars for a specific purpose, since  everyone of us DOESNT have same thinking as GIVE ME KAINKARYAM though BhagavAn is same in all avatars as Always say “Thamar Ugandhadhu Yevvurum Avvuruvam dhaane…

 

As another example based on Alwars above paasuram, a Beginner devotee like us do ThiruAradhanai to Perumal at their Home, but for some reason if there is any issues at home like our parents health, then they inquire which Temple Perumal will cure our parents health, because they don’t have enough maturity to understand that my Perumal at home is THE SAME Perumal in Temple. They could have asked what they need to the Perumal at Home, instead they go around different places, though every Perumal is SAME. So due to such devotees own taste (vaasanaas), HE Shrinks Himself to reflect one of His Guna as Dhanvanthri BhagavAn and so on other avatars.

 

Another devotee will think I’m doing Kainkaryam to my Perumal at Home, so I don’t have time to do Kainkaryam to same Perumal in a different Temple at this time, since Kainkaryam at home needs to be compromised inorder to do outside Temple Kainkaryam as Swami says “Oru Bhakthan irukkum Idame Divya Desam”.

 

Overall, each Perumal avatar will defentely give any other phalam as well since HE is Poornan (Full of Anantha Koti Kalyana Gunas), but at what stage in our life we understand matters.

 

Instead of asking knowledge or health or anything, Poorvacharyas reccomendation is

Uru Purusharthathmagam Brahma tatvam”, means we may have 1000 or more likings and stand in front of BhagavAn and ask for it, though some of our likings maynot yield good results to us and sometimes our liking may end up in some adverse effects in our life as well, since we really don’t have maturity to understand what is really good for us, but BhagavAn knows what to give us that will give us Satisfaction, BhagavAn does what is “Hitham” (that is ultimate good) for us, so just ask “YOU please decide  and do the Hithsm that is good for me”. This is the True Sharanagathy “Athma Samarpanam”,.

Regarding devareer’s further query as “…………

Based on above three the common factor in all 3 is

HIS SANKALPAM…………..“,

It is True only for good things, since if we say ALL are HIS Sankalpam, then every bad happenings Sri be globe or our misbehaviour will make it appear as HIS Sankalpam. So it is NOT TRUE.

 

PoorvaAcharyas says BhagavavAn does 2 types of Sankalpam during the Shrishti / Creation of Samsaram.

 

1) Karthritvam : HE makes Sankalpam, that every JeevAthma should behave good, Dharma Chinthanai and should improve in Bhakthi and Kainkaryam and attain ME. This is HS Pure Sankalpam with no involvement of other Jeevathma’s karma’s/vaasanaas. So ALL GOOD Happenings in our personal life or around globe are because of BhagavAn.

 

2) Kaarayathritvam: This is BhagavAns next Sankalpam. This means BhagavAn executes HIS above Karthritvam Sankalpam through a Jeevathma’s Karma’s since we have Jeeva Swathantriyam (Freedom Freewill). So if a JeevAthma karma is good, then it does Punya, since it matches BhagavAns above Karthritvam Sankalpam as “Aanukoolyasa Sankalpam( In-Line with BhagavAn’s wish). And if a JeevAthma does bad based on its karma, it Paapa (sin) which is against BhagavAn’s above Karthritvam Sankalpam as “Prathikoolyasya Varjanam (Against BhagavAn’s wish).

 

Then the next question that will arise is: 

Question:

why BhagavAn need to do Kaarayathritvam Sankalpam,

Answer:

this is because we have Jeeva Swathantriyam (Freedom Freewill). If we don’t have Freedom Freewill, then only Good things will happen all the time like BhagavAn’s Karthritvam Sankalpam. 

 

So only first one is HIS Sankalpam and second one is HE is executing HIS first Sankalpam through our Karma’s,

 

*so if we (devareer or Adiyen or anyone) do good things, it is because of BhagavAn and NOT our Sankalpam,

*if we (devareer or Adiyen or anyone) do bad things, then it is because of our Karma’s,, Vaasanaas, Ruchi,  Avidhya, Ahankaram, Mamakaaram, Prakruthi Sambhandham and NOT HIS SANKALPAM for bad things.

 

So,

Good things = HIS SANKALPAM (NOT our Sankalpam),

Bad things = Our Sankalpam (NOT HIS Sankalpam).

Hence BhagavAn in addition to taking many Avatars for our Anubhavam, HE also takes many Avatars to remove the bad things from us.

 

This is the correct understanding of a TRUE devotee.

Adiyen is only sharing BhagavAn’s system that is common for all who has karma’s like us from Swami’s Upanyasams beacause of devareer quest to know, other than that adiyen honestly don’t understand why devareer consider as “uttharavu (order)”. It is only SHARING and TAMING. So devareer should be actually saying as “Thanks for Sharing your understanding from Upanyasams”, and where is the uttharavu here?.

 

Adiyen got the grip with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham Abhimaanam that “நம்ம ஓத்துகொண்டாலும் ஓத்துகொள்ளாவிட்டாலும் இது தான் எல்லார்க்கும் பொதுவான சமமான பகவானின் சட்டம், பூர்வசார்யாகளின் வியாக்கியானபடி“. So Adiyen is Only sharing it. We ourselves can experience in our personal life how true the above thread BhagavAn’s 2 types of Sankalpams are from Velukkudi Swami’s Vaarthamaalai Upanyasam. Some try to put their mistakes by saying BhagavAn Sankalpam, for that BhagavAn reflects HIS another Kalyana Gunam “Udhaseenathvam (Silence கண்டு கொள்ளாமல் இருப்பது) waiting for us, when we will utilize our Freedom Freewill and have MAHA-VISHWASAM on HIS Lotus Feet, so that He can help us. This is BhagavAns Beautiful Step by step procedure to bring Bhakthi in one based on ones Jeeva Swathantriyam (Freedom-Freewill).
