Why yudhistira chose nakul instead of sahadeva when he was given a chance to chose to be revived among his brothers near him by yaksha?

Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha,

Namaskaram,

With Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham,

In general to all Bakthas, some prefix about Yudhistira before answering the question. Yudhishtira is a “fastidious person“, who seeks “Over Dharmam (Over- Righteous)” which is not good for himself and people around him. Like Gambling (Soothu) is Prohibited in Shastras (as per Supreme BhagavAn SriKrishna’s Law), but Yudhistira instead of saying “No to Gambling” to Shakuni and Kauravas, he chose to gamble which is Adharmam (non righteousness) in first place, then secondly he kept Live humans (pandavas) as stakes which is next elevated Adharmic act that he did, thirdly he kept another live human (female Draupadi) his wife as a stake, and finally the most attrocious thing that Yudhistira did in gambling is that he applied Dharmam (righteousness) in a Adharmic gambling by saying that “since we (pandavas) lost in gambling, we should give away all the items and Draupadi to Kouravavas”. This type is called அநியாயத்தில் நியாயம் பார்ப்பது. One should not do அநியாயம் in first place and moreover trying to do நியாயம் in an அநியாயம் act attracts BhagavAn SriKrishna’s attention, which is another reason why SriKrishna didnot physically come to the gambling place, rather HE gave neverending Sarees to Draupadhi from Dwaraka. If HE would arrived there physically, then HE would have finished Pandavas first for doing gambling when they already know it is Adharmam.

In short, one who seeks Satva Guna should stay away from two EXTREME ENDS of people:

1) Atmost Adharmis (like Kauravas / Injustice people) and

2) Atmost Dharmis (a.k.a Pseudo Dharmis) like Yudhistira in Pandavas. Over-righteouness people miss to understand what is “Righteouness”.

************

Now answering to the question, when Yudhistira’s brothers died drinking the water and will be awakened only when Yudhistira answers Yaksha’s question to chose only one out of the pandavas, he chose nakula because of his own personal “FASTIDIOUS REASONS as follows:

Pandu and Kunti had three sons Yudhistira, Bheema & Arjuna.

Pandu and Madri had twins Nakula & Sahadeva, of which Nakula is eldest due to some small time difference.

So to Kunti, one son is alive which is himself Yudhistira, So he simply chose Nakula to make alive instead of choosing one of the other three, so that each mother will have at least one son alive and that too both are the eldest ones. This is the actual Yudhistira FASTIDIOUS personal reason.

What happens, if Madri says, if there was no option to chose only one, I would prefer my youngest son, then Yudhishtira will be in depressed state again.

So, How Yudhistira’s answer helps for our Athma Ujjivanam?…NIL. With all these Yaksha Prashna and Yudhistira answers, did Yudhistira get Moksham (SriVaikunta), nope…he went to Swarga (lower birth place) where Athma Chinthanai (Spiritual life) is still more difficult that being in Earth due to Swarga life is always Madhu paanam (alcohol), Mangai (Ramba, Thilothama dancing) etc…. What a wasteful life in Swarga.

*********************

Overall, We just need to avoid two such Extreme types of people as Practically seen in present world, since we may get carried away by their Pseudo Dharmam speeches, instead a Satva Guna seeker just need to follow on the “Juncture Saturated Pious People” like Acharya Ramanuja granthmas and teachings for Athma Ujjivanam, Moksham (Sri Vaikuntam) and Kainkaryam (Service to SriKrishna).

FYI,

Veda Vyasar himself was sad after writing “Mahabharatam”, since instead of focussing just on SriKrishna stories, he had to write more about all other ordinary people (Nara Stuthi), so inorder to overcome that sin, Narada advised him to write “Srimadh BhagavAtam” which CIRCLES AROUND SriKrishna only and how other Devatas (demi-gods) like Brahma, Shiva, Indra etc… did Apacharam plus Upacharam to SUPREME BHAGAVAN SRIKRISHNA. Finally after writing Srimadh BhagavAtam, Veda Vyasar was so relieved from the mind depression that he got by writing Mahabharatam.

The above statement as:

What happens, if Madri says, if there was no option to chose only one, I would prefer my youngest son, then Yudhishtira will be in depressed state again.

is just a hypothetical statement to endorse the sequence of informations only. It’s not a incident in Mahabharat, since Madri is no more since Kunti was taking care of Nakula and Sahadeva as their sons.

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha,

“Atmost Dharmis (a.k.a Pseudo Dharmis) like Yudhistira in Pandavas. Over-righteousness people miss to understand what is “Righteouness”.

Is not an acceptable statement and i feel bad to read/hear this statement and as duty to defend Yudhistar Maharaj a pure devotee of Sri Krishna I list the following points for other’s consideration.

  1. Yudhistar and Paandavas were fully directed by Krishna to enact the intended plan, so even though it appears he made a “mistake” by gambling, it  was Krishna’s plan ..( there are multiple reasons for why Krishna wanted so…).
  2. Pandavas went to Swarga, does not mean that they remained there.. Swami, explained that all of them after being in swarga went back to their respective positions..and some went or would have eventually reached Vaikunta.. (please hear enpani audio :1969)
  3. What we can learn for aatma ujjiveenam from the above incident is that we should not be attached to one’s one family member and relatives but  should be broad  minded and selfless.. i think for many of us this is a important area to work and improve.. So we cannot say there is no use for aatma ujjeveanam from this incident.
  4. Above all, if it is not useful, would Velukkudi swamy  have spoken about it or posted 226 days of audio of mahabaharatam.

“yatra yogeśhvaraḥ kṛiṣhṇo yatra pārtho dhanur-dharaḥ
tatra śhrīr vijayo bhūtir dhruvā nītir(righteousness) matir mama”

Jai Shree Krishna !

Adiyen
