Why karnavedha samskara is performed for both male and female child and what is the significance? Kindly someone explain.

I am also curious about this. How long is it necessary to keep the earring/stud on for boys? Also if we remove it and the ear closes during upanayanam are we supposed to go for the ear piercing again?

Now fashion change. Only during jeeyar sevai in tirumala tirupathi we remove the girdha
