Kannikadanam

Namaskaram swami,

Kindly help to clarify following queries from shastras perspective –

1. In a marriage, the seer (both during and after marriage) that the girl’s family gives – is it as per the wish and convenience of girl’s family or is this something specified by shastras? Can this be demanded by boy’s family?

2. Does shastras provide equal rights to both girl’s family and boy’s family on the bride and groom ? Or is it like any other danam where the one giving danam loses their right on girl?

3. Is it in accordance with Shastras, if a girl wants to meet her parents or vice versa everyday post marriage? Adiyen has not seen such practices with elders.

Requesting clarification, Swami

I remember hearing on enpani a long time ago which answers question 1. Dowry is a voluntary gift, and is not something demanded!

Of all the danam the greatest is the kannika-danam. Only a dharma patni can enable one to do his grihastha dharmas properly and help carry the family lineage forward. So kannika-danam is teh greatest of all danams. To demand money and other material wealth to accompany kannikadanam is foolishness. Such people are not getting married to have a dharma-patni. They are ‘marrying’ for a different purpose which even dogs and monkeys can satisfy very easily.

Equal rights na enna? Husband vitutu poradhA?
Illa husband wife vitutu poradhA?

2nd marriage rights?
3rd marriage rights?

ShAstrAs clearly say even for job sake
“A couple should not be seperated”

I read in Ranganatha PAdukA

Krishna Premi Swamy told
“One must not even cross a couple in between while walking”

AdhAvadhu nadakkum podhu kuda
Oru BharthA BhAryA kku nadula
Poga kudAdhu

Kambandasan Swamy

What is “Dharma Pathni”?
“Such people are not getting married to have a dharma-patni.”

What are the qualifications of a “Dharma Pathni”?

Why don’t we have a term for “Dharma Pathi”?
Why no equal women rights?

Dasanudasan

“What is “Dharma Pathni”?From vikraminside

One who teams up with the husband to execute the dharmas as per sastric prescriptions.

Please hear ‘Srti dharmam’ audio. This could address your question partly.

[quote author=”Why don’t we have a term for “Dharma Pathi”?From ””What

There are several terms which refer to a man as per the dharma he is practising: Brahmacharya follows brahmacharya dharma, Grhastha follows grhastha dharma, and so on.

From ”Why

Every soul in whatever body has full rights to do the respective kainkaryam to the Lord. If my propensities and inclination is to do a specific kind of work, I am assigned a birth and situations where I can do that kind work with a devotional heart, and through that work engage in sacrifice and cultivate deeper devotion, and thus regain my original state. Every body has equal rights.

Problem starts when I start thinking the grass is greener on the other side and desire another person’s duty. This leads me to be born in that situation in a future life and still feel dissatisfaction. Real satisfaction comes from the devotional heart and not just the work I do. The work is a means by when I can cultivate my devotion to my Lord. When this understanding is clear, the path back to Vaikuntha is easy.

Everyone of us have equal rights to follow this.

Absolutely Swamy

Equal rights because shAstrAs has prescribed. Adiyen got my understanding correct in this case. To us shAstrAs is the alavukOl.

If duo has to pursue together in devotion, both of them has equal rights in attaining Brahmam not just one be it in any gender body.

If Velukkudi Swamy wanted Swamy could have kept all knowledge to himself why Swamy sharing to us?

That’s what I said Meera Bai could have shared to her hubby.

Dasanudasan

Vikram swamy, adiyen has to conduct myself within my adhikaram / arugadhai / aLavukOl.

Adiyen has received enough lessons in the past to realise multiple times that I don’t have the arugadhai to make devereer understand certain things. So, I am not going to try anything beyond my capacity. If you understand, I am happy. If you don’t understand, I am not sad. You may get to understand at an appropriate time through an appropriate source.

Srimathe Vedantha Ramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Adiyen’s understanding of “Dharma Pathni” according to Srimath Thirukkundanthai Andavan

Srimath Vedantha Ramanuja Mahadesika Swamy

Iyam Seetha Mama Sutha Saha Dharma Chareethava

Saha Dharma ChArini endrAl

“If husband follows Dharma, then follow him, if husband deviates from Dharma do course correction”

That’s why SeethA pirAtti told

The bow is sitting idle and getting rusted

To make sure SriRama keeps up the promise to Maharishi

Am not sure there is any other better source of information other than my AchAryan let’s see.
