Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha,

Namaskaram,

1) Ashtaanga Siddhi yoga is done by those who follow “Sadhyopayam” for Moksham. Seidhu Seidhu (Saadhitchu) Phalanai Anubhavippavadhu, hence Sadhyopayam.
Upayam (Route) is our own effort,
Upeyam (Destination) is BhagavAn’s Lotus Feet.
This is Karma-Gyana-Bhakthi Yoga Maargham (Rishi Maargham)

2) Swami NamAlwar and All Alwars follow “Siddhopayam” for Moksham. Yedhuvum Seyyamal Phalanai Anibhavippadhu. Siddha’maana Purushan Sriman NarayanA’nudaya Karunayai mattum nambhi iruppadhu.
Upayam (Route) is BhagavAn’s Karunai,
Upeyam (Destination) is BhagavAn’s Lotus Feet.
This is Sharanagathy Maargham (Alwars Maargham).

So Swami Nammalvar is not the pinnacle of Astanga yoga, rather Swami NamAlwar is மயர்வர மதிநலம் அருளப்பெற்றவர்.

Adiyen (ElayaAlwar) Srinivasa (DhoddayAcharyar) Dasan.

Also it is very true as devareer said “area near heart and in between eye brow get intense sensation while visiting alwar tirunagiri”… That’s Swami NamAlwars Mahimai. Swami is like a Magnet which attracts all tiny iron particles like us.
