Can we offer flowers that are grown in someone else gardern/home?

Adiyen,

I reside in Bengaluru, a city known for its pleasant climate and beautiful surroundings adorned with various flowers such as malli, chemparuthi, and vrikshi. These flowers bloom abundantly along the streets and near apartments.

Whenever I come across these exquisite flowers, I feel a strong desire to offer them to my thiruvaradhana perumal. As a result, I pluck them and bring them home. In addition to purchasing flowers, I include these lovely flowers from the neighborhood in my daily nithya thiruvaradhanam after performing thiruthuzhaai grahanam.

While sometimes nothing untoward happens, there may be instances where people might feel displeased when someone else plucks “their” flowers. Ironically, these flowers are often kept solely for decorative purposes and eventually wither away.

From a sastric perspective, I am curious to know whether it is acceptable to pluck flowers from random places and offer them to Perumal. Since these plants often grow along roadsides or in gardens/apartments where ownership is unclear, I am uncertain if my actions constitute avadhyam or wrongdoing.

I humbly request your clarification on this matter.

Whenever, wherever possible, please ask them and collect the flowers.

Most people are likely to happily agree if you say you are collecting for God. By doing so they get the punyam of assisting an adiyaar’s kainkaryam.
