Azhwar and Bhagwan’s Avataram

Namaskaram swami

Sometime back a thought passed by Adiyen’s mind, Bhagwan has Aprakrita Tirumeni, Aprakrita Abharanam, Aprakrita Abhushnam etc and it is said that Thirukurungudi Nambi took Avatara as Thirukurgoor Nambi(NamAzhwar), even other Azhwars took Avataram in this bhoo lokam as type of those Aprakrita Abharanam, why it is that bhagwan chose his Abharnam or himself, to take Avataram and not any other Prakrita manushyan, Adiyen thought of one Samadaanam as in BadriNath bhagwan himself is (Naran and Narayanan), in order to showcase how a sishyan and Acharyan has to be the right order, similarly, Azhwargal Avatarams which are of Aprakrita Abhushanam of bhagwan is to set a benchmark in bhakti and each Azhwar is superior in his own, no doubt, any other samaadhanam swamy and other bhagwatas???

Srimate ramanujaya nama:🙏

Swamy, devarir had posted a deep rooted and multi dimensional question(which includes few distinct explanation within our acharyas but will see one aspect of it). Apologize for long post😅

Azhwars are personalities who had extreme bhakthi and completely sinked in bhagavat guna anubhavam. This outstanding prabhavam makes anyone to ‘THINK’ azhwars as avatharam of nithya suris such as chakram, shankam etc(as exhibition of such devotion is only possible for them) or bhagavan himself!
But in reality they are none of the above! They are one amongst samsari chethanas but had “kevala nirhethuka bhagavath kripai” through which they got rised to level of “azhwars”. Bhavagan had selected few chethanas and blessed them with bhakthi and by them he revealed (not created!) 4000 divya prabhandam, hence its also called dravida vedam. This is very evident from their own pasurams itself, one such example is famous nammazhwar’s thiruvaimozhi pasuram “Mayarvara madhinalam arulinan..” where azhwar states emperuman himself gave “Bhakthi roopapanna gyanam” to azhwar!

Initially it may be taken with a pinch of salt but this point is so clearly explained by Swamy Azhagiya manvalaperumal nayanar in his work called “Acharya hurdhayam”. He establishes the point that azhwars are chethanas but with nirhethuka kripai rised to level of so called azhwars with various pramanams. One famous suthram from 2nd prakaranam goes “athri jamathakni…” In that he brings all possible explanations given for azhwars such as “yuga varnakrama avathram”(avathram of perumal in kaliyuga), vyasathivathu aavesam(aavesa avathram).. many such possibilities ..and finally concludeds that its none of the above-mentioned but whereas azhwar is someone on whom just bhagvat kripai got laid so he rised to that level!
Adiyen had just made a reference here.Vellukudi krishnan swamy in his lectures of Acharya hrudhaya kalakshepam has delt this in very detail.

Now still the question remains why it is then said that azhwars are ayutham or abharnam of perumal??

As its said their prabhavam and their way of pasuram and the bhavam in that RESEMBLES a nithya suri/ayutham/bhagavan himself!
Like for example: Thirumazhisai azhwar did para matha kandanam just like chakarathazhwar kills all enemies so he is praised as “chakraamsam”(Makayam makaremaase chakraamsam.. thaniyan)
Similarly periyazhwar did paratatva nirnayam just like gurada azhwar explicitly shows who is paramatma, so he is considered as garuda azhwar amsam. But these are ONLY ment for stortams(exception Sri Andal as she is boomi pirati)

In conclusion:
1. 12 azhwars are individual samsari chethanas who only by nirhethuka bhagavat kripai rised to level of such standards!
2. Praising azhwars as nithya suri/thiruvabharanam/ayudham/ perumal himself is due to their prabhavam and the correlation they had common between them!

Adiyen had just reiterated few points which I listened from swamy’s various kalakshepam. If any mistakes are there kindly correct me.

Adiyen dasan🙏

My humble namaskarams at the feet of Sheshadri swamy for such beautiful answer completely based on acharyas’ explanation, without any “I think so” “I feel so”.

Except occassional unavoidable exceptions, we must always try to base our questions and answers on what has been revealed to us rather than say “I think this is so”.

Thank you so very much for sticking this principle; this is the way the knowledge has been passed down to us, and this is the only way we can preseve it for the following generations.

On a different note, I am so grateful to our Swamy for this forum where we can discuss and educate each other. One great loss that has happened over the past few decades is, because the correct knowledge / meaning of scriptures has not been distributed to the masses, utterly unqualified persons gain the audacity to express their own obscene interpretations. In such circumstances, our Swamy’s effort to reach out to the masses with the teachings presented in a simple easily understandable and interesting manner through calendar distribution and enpaNi audio is comendable. Let us do our little mite too.

Thank you swamy

Pl do pardon me for the error that are present..
Pl do mention and correct those which i can change it swamy

We got all the knowledge and wisdom from poorvacharya’s works. But adiyen haven’t mentioned nowhere “I think like this” or “I feel like this”… Or adiyen couldn’t find which part of this give such meaning! If so pardon me i will change it. If you mention that first like with highlighted we “think” the context is different swamy!

@kambandasan Swamy…. Adiyen ask aparadha shamanam from you… With little misinterpretation i wrote above comments,
I understood your point swamy.
Dhanyosmi

Sheshadri swamy,

I was honestly glorifying you and genuinely appreciating you with all my heart because your answer is (in this post and in the past post too) perfectly in line with the acharyas.

Please continue. Atleast to the extent my limited intelligence can fathom, I don’t see ANY instance of you throwing in your own interpretation / guesses.
