Certain signals are decodable only to certain beings. Udayavar found out SriRanganathar had cold.

Similarly devareer may experience something which Perumal is telling you. Not sure if everyone can get devareer’s experience.

Kandippa as we do pariseshanam we are actually feeding the antharyami first. So it is indeed Perumal’s message to devareer. That too during the Thiru aaradhanam.

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Asmadh Sarva Gurubyo Namaha,

Dear all BhagavAtas,

Nice correlation and sharing thoughts/experiences about Perumal System of ஏப்பம் (Burp).

Adiyen would like to sequence the reasons/mechanism which has the answer for why ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp) happens, plus the KEY side stories related to Health as well, which will be useful for all, since Burp is related to the Food digestion and a part of Anushtanam.

Short Answer:

Yes, if we get Type a) Satvika ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp), then it is same as realizing BhagavAn Sriman NarayanAn

Long Answer:

Perumal’s Science of Food Digestion process needs to be understood first to understand why ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp) happens.

The Three steps of Food Digestion of the Human Body as per our 1st Scientist Perumal who designed the body, either one eats Prasadham or ordinary food is as follows:

If we consume BhagavAt Prashadham , then it is BhagavAt Preethyartham and helps for the actual cause “Athma Ujjivanam” in addition to Body Health.

Step 1) “Salavia Digestion Process”

During intake, one should

  1. Eat with CLOSED MOUTH, chew food in mouth for almost 32 times (steadily, not too fast or too slow), which mashes the food in our mouth when mixed with Saliva (எச்சில்) . That’s why Perumal has given us 32 teeth’s.
  2. Concentrate only on the food during this process, one should not open mouth by talking or watching TV/cellphone or any other acitivity, since the Air will get into mouth and act as a Barrier between Saliva and food, which restricts the digestion process, and also restricts Brian from releasing the necessary digestive hormones, rather brain will release hormones to eyes for watching TV/cell phone and causes indigestion.

If Step1 is followed properly, then 20% of digestion occurs in mouth due to Saliva mixing with food. Thats why Elders/Poorvacharyas say not to speak while eating for good health. What it means is either our Salaiva is spille dout on other plate & air restricts salaiva creation for digestion. So we have to sit and eat alone to avoid distraction, which is considered as a ANushtanam. Many people don’t follow the step1 properly, but they blindly follow the “EATING ALONE” concept which doesn’t help for their healthy body at all. That’s why we see many Vaidehaas though following anushtanam (eat alone) or eat with their Shishyas or eat along with Devotees circle, still keep talking while eating and eating and finally we end up in Hospital for health issues and pay Huge Bills instead of following Proper eating method. So we should follow the INITIAL Step1) properly for good health.

Step 2) “Stomach Acid Digestion Process”

Further, After mashed food from Step1) is send to stomach, due to hunger realization prior to Step1, the Acid/Amilam (Jaatara Agni ‘Our Perumal’) is generated inside the stomach, then further digestion of the food happens due to the Acid. So, we SHOULDNOT dilute this acid/amilam by drinking water during eating.

If Step2 is followed properly, then 60% of digestion occurs in Stomach due to Acid mixing with food. Thats why Vaidhehas/Acharyas keep the Water glass on the right side, so that while eating with right hand, the left hand is too far to to get to the glass to grab water and water drinking is prevented. But, now the question rises what happens if we have “Hick-ups (விக்கல் )”. Hick-up occurs when we don’t follow step1 (no chewing with closed mouth and not concentrating the food), so Perumal from inside the body reminds us by giving hick-ups or makes us to bite our tongue accidently, so as to remind us to focus on food.

Step 3) “Small Intestine/சிறு குடல் Digestion Process”

The Step1 & Step2 100% Digestion Process happens same time during the food eating for anyone who follows it properly.

After Full Stomach Digestion is complete (100%) for any exisitng food in stomach,THEN ONLY the Digested food from Stomach is sent to the Small Intestine (சிறு குடல் ) for remaining 20% DIgestion. which makes up a total of 100% Digestion process (20%+60%+20%) and all food is broken down into finae juice molecules and carried as GODD GLUCOSE to the Blood.

Type a) Satvika ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp)

Hence, when the Digested Food from Stomach is Transferred to Small Intestine, the Muscle is Opened up which makes a Knocking noise by releasing the excess air, whcih is called as BURP/BELCH. This is the concept of ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp) in Perumal’s Designed Body which is COMMON for all of us whether we belong to any Religion or Athiest or Non-devotee.

This type a) burp is Really a Positive sign (Satvika Burp) from Body which indicates that Stomach is Full and digestion is complete, so stop eating further. We can continue till 2 or 3 burps ONLY if Step1 & Step2 is properly followed. This indicates that our Stomach is full.

Paanaka Narasimhar” koil, when “Paanakam” is offered, BhagavAN takes up only half of the paanakam that is offered, This is a indication to tell us that we need to eat only half of the stomach and not full stomach, but we don’t need to worry what is half stomach, since if we follow the step1 & Step2, automatically the burp will determine the stomach fullness as 50%. Like, stomach is divided into 4 compartments. 1/2 (50%) should be for food, 1/4 (25%) should be for air & 1/4 (25%) should be for Water. But, we overdose food to 100% of stomach size, and no space for air/water to circulate. Eventually, bad digestion and health issues.

This type of Digestion results in Good Cholesterol, Good Glucose and Good Fat and minimal Health issues, and we don’t need to Attribute a unknown cause as Karmas for health issues, when we already have a known reason which is our own internal mistake of NOT following PROPER EATING METHOD.

Another reason in Type a) burp is, one should night food within 1 hr from sunset, because SUN rays helps in easy digestion, and we should allow 1 or 2 hrours for food digestion before going to bed, since at night after 9:00am, then first of all the digestion process is very slow and more over if we go to bed immedielty, tehn the whole night dinner is stagnanat inside stomach or it is getting very very slowly digested.

In this case, the undigested food remains in our stomach and is not trasnferred to Small intestine even after we get up in the morning. SO, when we do Perumal Thaligai and do Kandu Arul or Kondu arul (கண்டு அருள் or கொண்டு அருள் ), then during that time, the Amilam/Acid in our stomach is generated automatically, which digests the previous night food and transfers from Stomach to Small intestine and that muscle expansion/release of food movement is the burp that we get, even though we did not eat the food actually. This is what BhagavAta and most BhagavAta’s face as the morning automatic Burp even without eating.

Type b) Rajasik ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp)

Any food that didnot go through the Step2 FULL digestion due to our hurry or time crunch remains in the stomach or Over eating beyond the Satvik type burp a), then NO Type a) burp happens during the eating process. But when we do some small physical activities during the day like walking to catch a bus or some minor physical activity etc.., then this food in stomach is slowly digested by the Heat/Acid generated AT A LATER TIME and then it gets transferred from stomach to Small intestine and burp sound is revealed which is Rajasik Burp due to muscle/diaphragm opening up during this food movement.

Type c) Tamasik ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp)

Any food that didnot go through the Step2 FULL digestion remains in the stomach and when we keep eating further without the existing food getting digested and if we keep drinking water by putting off the Amilam/Acid , then a Pile of Undigested Food in stomach is accumulated and stomach starts having Foul smell due to Food getting converted to garbage and Stomach becomes as a “Septic Tank” and forms as a Tummy. Some Tummies are enlargement of the stomach itself with no muscle inflation. Some tummies are inflated muscles due to bad-fat deposits on Muscles due to indigestion.

So, when we don’t eat further till the existing Piled food in stomach is digsted, we keep geetiing burps without eating due to digested food transfer in small packets from Stomach to Small Intestine at different intervals. This Type b) burp is called புளிச்ச ஏப்பம் (Bad smell Burp), since we are helping body without adding more food till the existing food in stomach is getting digested, but it will be annoying for the near by persons due to our continuous burp sound and foul smell from mouth originated from the stomach.

This type of Burping is more seen in Outside world who doesn’t follow Steps1 & 2) properly, and we shouldnot be in that category.

****************************

Yes Conclusion for the question is Yes, if we get Type a) Satvika ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp), then it is same as realizing BhagavAn Sriman NarayanAn

Another reason is in type a) burp , one should night food within 1 hr from sunset, because SUN rays helps in easy digestion, and we should allow 1 or 2 hours for food digestion before going to bed, since at night after 9:00am, then first of all the digestion process is very slow and more over if we go to bed immediately, then the whole night dinner is stagnant inside stomach or it is getting very very slowly digested.

Lessons I learn from these slokas:

  1. One should seek Saranagathi only from Perumal and his representative (acharya who gives us samasrayanam, and acharyas who guide has carefully in the path. Expressing ‘thiruvadigale saranam’ to anyone else is bad for both the doer and the receiver.
  2. Perumal is beyond the 3 gunas. So, it is not appropriate to classify Perumal’s activities within the 3 gunas. His activities are beyond satva guna; it is sudha-satva. Although the name has ‘satva’ in it, sudha satva is not in the same category of satva. All three gunas are material; but sudha-satva is spiritual.
  3. Only a person who has gone beyond the 3 gunas (satva, rajas and tamo) and entered the fully mature state of surrender and devotion to Perumal can actually perceive Perumal in the Paramatma manifestation or His Personal manifestation. For example, to be able to perceive the Paramatma’s burp, I must actually be beyond all the gunas (satva, rajas and tamas). Just staying in satva guna is not sufficient to perceive Perumal as Paramatma.
  4. 14.22 to 14.25 gives a long list of qualities of a person who has become free from all three gunas. I can easily compare myself against this list to see if I am really ready to perceive Paramatma. Until then I can continue to follow the instructions from my guru and acharya, with full confidence that by their mercy one day I will cross the 3-gunas and be able to perceive Perumal.
  5. When one joins as a medical student, one can be confident that “if I follow the instructions given by my teacher I will one day fully graduate as a doctor”. But he is not a full doctor on the first day itself. Similarly, when I receive Panchasamskaram from my acharyan, I can be confident that if I follow the instructions carefully one day I will be a full saranagatha and be able to perceive Perumal in His different forms. Until then, I am only a ‘student’ in progress. This is my current stage; I am just in LKG of saranagathi, and I am simply practising what the acharyas have given me.  But I am confident one day I will definitely go beyond even satva guna and be able to perceive Perumal through kainkaryam.

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Beautiful understanding Kamba Dasan BhagavAta from Karpangaadu VenkataAcharya Swagigal Vyakkyanam on BhagavAt Gita.

Kaarpangaadu Swamigal ThiruvAdigalaey Sharanam,

Adiyen would like to expand more about this Satva, Rajas & Tamo gunas from our Sri Velukkuid Krishnan Swami’s upanyasam in short. For clear details, please listen to Swami’s GadyaTrayam Upanyasam.

Leela Vibhoothi (or Samsaram)

ONE Andam comprises of 14 lokas. LIke that there are countless Andams in leela Vibhoothi.

1) Bhoolokam with many Dweepams in CENTER,

2) Bhuhu, Bhuvaha etc… total of 6 lokas ABOVE. Indra lokam is either Bhuhu or Bhuvaha, not sure exactly which one.

3) Athala, Vithala, Paathala etc…. total of 7 lokas BELOW.

So Each Andam itself is Infinitely big, which has Bholoka, Sathya lokam (Brahma lokam), SHiva lokam, Indra lokam etc…. and like that there are “COuntless Andams’, each having a Brahma position, Shiva position, Indra position etc…. and PErumal choses a JeevAThma to be in that Post/Position.

All these Countless Andams Together are called as “LEELA VIBHOOTHI” or called as SAMSARAM which is a PHYSICAL PLACE. This Samsaram is the one which is subject to Creation, Protection and Destruction by Perumal., as HE is the ONE & ONLY Master. This Samsaram is Dangerous place where we live, since it has “Rajas, Tamas, Karmas & Bounded by TIME”.

This LEELA VIBHOOTHI” itself is only 1/4th of BhagavAN Sriman NarayanAn’s TOTAL VIBHOOTHI Physical Place.

Nithya Vibhoothi (or SriVaikuntam)

THe remAining 3/4th is called as the THRIPATH VIBHOOTHI (because 3 times bigger than Leela Vibhoothi)”, or, “NITHYA VIBHOOTHI” , or ‘SriVaikuntam” or “ParamaPAdham” or “Peru Veedu” or “NALAM ANTHAM ILAHTHOOR NAADU (No deficiency in Happiness)”, or MOksham for simplicity, whcih is Physical place. Some sampradhaysm says wrong by saying Moksham as a state of mind which is totally incorrect as per Shastras. Moksham is a physical place. THis Nithya Vibhoothi has many lokas like Sri Rama lokam, Sri Krishna lokam, Sri NaraSimha lokam, Sri Varaha lokam etc…..for all Bhaktas to Serve HIM LIVE.

The Leela Vibhoothi & Nithya Vibhoothi is Seperated by Virajai River.

Rajai means place full of Rajas gunas which is the Leela Vibhoothi Samsaram.

When sanskrit word “Vi” is prefixed to any word, it gives the opposite meaning.

So ViRajai means “NO Rajas”. Hence, when we get Moksham through ACHARYA RAMANUJA KRUPA KATAKSHAM, all the Rajas, Tamas, Karmas are destroyed in ViRajai river and we get a NEW body called “Aprakritha Shareeram (Non deteriorating body) with full of Suddha Satvam”.

That “SriVaikuntam” also has Pancha Bhootoma but that Pancha Bhootam is not subject to creation or destruction, since that pancha Bhoothma is made of Suddha Satva Mayam with no Rajas and Tamas and NOT TIME bound, since anything beyond Virajai River is SUddha Satvam.

Also, same way “KUNTA” means Kurai ulladhu (With Deficiency). So, Leela Vibhooti/ Samsaram is called as “KUNTA” or KUNTAM”.

When Sanskrit word ‘Vi’ is added to Kunta, it gives opposite meaning, ViKunta or VaiKuntam means “NO deficieny” which is the Nithya Vibhoothi. ‘Sri’ is added because of THiruMagal Thayar presence in VaiKUnta with Perumal. Without Thayar, there is NO WAY, we receive PErumal’s karunai. We all JeevAThmas after reaching SriVaikuntam with Acharya Ramanuja Krupai, we all will do Nithya Kainkaryam to DIVYA DAMPADHIS along with the Nithya sooris in SriVaikuntam. It’s all about continuing the Acharya sambhandham and BHagavata sambhandham and Sri Velukudi Krishnan Swami Sambhandham in ‘SriVaikuntam’ as well.

In CRUX,

Leela Vibhoothi/Samsaram (Physical place, presently we live here, Birth-Death-Rebirth Cycle):

  1. a) Rajas, Tamas, Satvam (so it called as MISHRA SATVAM),

  2. b) Jeevathmas have Karmas,

  3. c) Time bound, hence sleep, old age, tired, disease etc..

  4. d) Prakritha Shareeram (Deteriorating body)

  5. e) Dark place, like Light ‘SUN’ is situated in darkness. We can see  all the stars, sun are situated in darkness around.

  6. f) Also called as “Kunta”, or Kuntam means Kurai Ulladhu (With Deficiency)

  7. g) 1/4th of total size.

Nithya Vibhoothi/SriVaikuntam (Future residing place after this birth, NO Rebirth):

  1. a) No Rajas, No Tamas, ONLY SUDDHA Satvam,

  2. b) Jeevathmas has NO Karmas as it is ERASED in VIrajAI Nadhi,

  3. c) NO Time at all, hence no sleep, no old age, no tiredness, no disease etc…

  4. d) Aprakritha Shareeram (Non-Deteriorating body)

  5. e) Bright place, like BhagavAn himself is Illuminating Light.

  6. f) Also called as “ViKunta”, or VaiKuntam means Kurai Illadhadhu (NO Deficiency)

  7. g) 3/4th of total size.

So , as long we are in this Samaram, some amount of Tamas is needed for proper sleeping and Rajas is needed for proper physical activities like kainkaryam, since we are already made of a Prakrita Shareeram by BhagavAN. Over exceeding the Tamas and Rajo gunas is a road block for Stava guna improvement and road block for further bHagavAt Anugraham, and we are subject to all these three gunas. Hence, Acharyas preaching is to focus on the Satva Guna improvement (like Proper Aachaaram, Anushtanam, Shravanam, Kainkaryam etc…) and minimize the Rajas and Tamas gunas to get BhagavAt Anugraham, but we cannot come of this Mishra Stavam (Raja+Tamas+Satva) combination as long as we are in this Samsaram, until we cross Virajai Nadhi and go to the Suddha Satvam SriVAikuntam (Moksham) which happens only due to Acharya Ramanuja “NirHedhukai Krupai (Causeless Mercy).

That is the reason, A Sharanagathan on Acharyan ThiruvAdi DOESN’T FOCUS ON UPASANAS, AS IT WILL LEAD TO ACCUMULATING PUNYA KARMAS AND END UP IN DESIRE OF MATERIALISTIC POSITIONS either within Bhoomi or other Loka positions.

A Sharanagathan is “SUPPOSE TO SURRENDER THE PHALAM OF PUNYA KARMAS” to lotus feet of Sriman Narayanan (Do the Good Deeds but surrender the results as “Sarvam SriKrishnarpanam Asthu) and NOT to carry the Punya karmas with us, and avoids any Paapams by involving in Kainkaryams/SHravanam etc… So, Punya and Paapa karmas becomes Zero at some point with Thayar-Perumal Kataksham and Acharya Ramanuja NirHedhukai Krupai in same birth, there is definite way of getting out of this birth-death cycle and WE (all Jeevathmas) Property of Thayar-Perumal reach SriVaikuntam for Nithya Kainkaryam (Permanent Aanandham for Thayar-Perumal) as Swami KoorathAazhvan says in “Dhati Panchakam”:

Vishnu Loka ManiMandapa Maarga Dhaayee, Ramanujo Vijayathaey Yathiraja Rajaha”

Acharya Ramanujar is also called as Ubhaya VIbhoothi Naayagan as TITLED by SriRangam NammPerummal, so All Alwars & Acharyas of any Sampradhaya reside in Swami Ramanujar THirumeni

Ramanuja-acharya-alwars-paramahamsa-Vishwananda etc…..

Adiyen Sri Velukkudi Krishna Dasan,

Uyya Oraey Vazhi UdayavAR ThiruvAdi,

Sarvam SriKRishna Kudumbham.

Thank you for summarising Swami’s upanyasam on this topic. (I appreciate how quickly you type long posts every day! It takes me considerable time to do so!).

One small point:

For very very pure acharyas, they may actually be in suddha satva although we physically see them here. Just because we physically see them here does not mean that they still have misra-satva.

For people like us, even when we are at the best of our satva, it is still ‘misra’ in quality, and so we can not claim to perceive Perumal or His manifestation directly. We can perceive Perumal only through the words of acharyas (i.e. Sravanam). Even our perception of Perumal residing in Archa-vigraha is because we have heard so from acharyas. Otherwise we would not be able to differentiate Deity from an idol! Even after hearing so much about Periya Perumal, I do not see Him the same way Dhanurdas saw Him or the way Thirupaanaazhwaar saw Him. I don’t see Him fully because of my ‘misra’ qualities. Those devotees could actually see Periya Perumall fully by acharya krpa and Bhagavat Krpa.

Perceiving Paramatma’s burb is quite far fetched at my stage.
