HaHa!! humurous explanation by Bhagtha Nivethitha.

Bhagawan SriKrishna was ruling Dwaragha and thus He was a King (Shathriya) too.

Shathriyas keep the Moustache / Meesai. Bhaghwan’s Dharshan is like coming straight after the Yudham from warfield and that’s why this posture.

Then why SriRama Perumal did not have meesai?

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruvae Namaha,

Sri Rama and Sri Krishna both had meesai during their avatar during Shatriya kulam. Only in Temples Archai (Deity) forms dont have meesai except few places.

SriRangam Urchavar is SriRama and Moolavar (Sayana kolam) is SriKrishna.

Moolavar SriKrishna in SriRangam dont have meesai, but Paartha Sarathy Krishna has meesai.

But if we look carefully at SriRangam Urchavar SriRama, HE has a small வண்டு மீசை (honey bee mustache), but it doesn’t reflect the actual avatar mustache.

The reason is there are “Accupoints” above lip area. When Shatriya keeps mustache, it activates the accupoints and enhances “Rajas” gunas, which is needed for cops to protect law and order/ soldiers to protect country borders.

So A brahman is not suppose to keep mustache, so as to avoid Rajas gunas enhance Satva guna which is needed for Veda mantra chanting / BhagavAt vishaya Gyana improvement. Hence, In this Kali yuga, BhagavAn in majority of Temple Deity forms appears without mustache, so that the Asthika males of all varnas including Archagars (Priests) can follow it to improve Sathva gunas to do the temple rituals properly.

Also another interesting thus Srimadh Bhagavatam, SriKrisha after Kamsa vadham, appeared with HIS 4 hands permanently thereafter till HE returned back to SriVaikuntam. Only TV serials and temple deities show HIM with 2 hands, which is not true. Only SriRama in HIS avatar appeared throughout with 2 hands due to Manushya avatara forms, But SriKrishna after Kamsa vadham, revealed HE is ParamAthma and started showing HIS ParaVasudeva SriVaikunta form with 4 hands.

Thanks for a nice explanation. @Kongilpiratti: you said “The reason is there are “Accupoints” above lip area. When Shatriya keeps mustache, it activates the accupoints and enhances “Rajas” gunas, which is needed for cops to protect law and order/ soldiers to protect country borders.”. If that’s true when bhagavathas also don’t shave for a long time and keep moustache and beard, during those times are their Rajas not fed?

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruvae Namaha,

Dear Ramanuja Dasa,

Honestly, adiyen dont know more details of this mustache/beard stuff except what adiyen mentioned above. As adiyen say in most of other threads ” Adiyen only share what adiyen understood from Swami’s Pravachanams with Acharya Krupai”.

In-line with that, adiyen would like to share again based on Swami’s Pravachanams about rajas/tamas gunas for Bhaktas concern.

Swami has said in the past that, as long as we (JeevAthma) reside in this “Prakrutha Shareeram (Material body)” in this Samsaram, the 3 gunas satva, rajas, tamas will always exist. The question us how to make the rajas/tamas gunas dormant and make the Satva guna predominant.

As Swami says, this can be achieved by Acharya Krupai. There are different ways as well like shravanam, keerthanam etc….. to improve Satva guna.

So, can we eliminate totally the rajas/tamas gunas within us while in this Samasaram (Leela Vibhoothi, a.k.a Material world). The answer us NO. Since, without Tamas guna, we cannot Sleep. Without Rajas gunas, we cannot do any Karmik actions. The issue arises only when Rajas/Tamas are excessive than the needs. So avoid Rajasik/Tamasik poojas (other Devantara vazhipaadu), no meesai for Brahmanas etc…. Ravan was a Brahman by birth, but kept Meesai (Rajasik guna enhancenent) and did other Devanatara pooja (Rajasik Brahma pooja and Tamasik Shiva pooja). Finally Sathvik ParaBrahnam SriRama had to descend from “Suddha Satvam SriVaikuntam to fix Ravan’s issue.

So all male Asthikas try to avoid Rajas/Tamas gunas as much as possible, though it cannot be eliminated while in this Samsaram. One way Asthikaas follow is to avoid meesai. Swami also has said Shaving rules, so on those days, mustache/beard cannot be avoided, but Perumal Eliminates the Rajas enhancement in those days, since we are following HIS shastric rules (Saamanya Dharmam), so Perumal helps them.

Also one who is involved in continous Kainkaryam, Perumal doesnt apply HIS rules at all. This is Visheha Dharmam, Like Acharya Swami KoorthAzhwan and Acharya Swami DhoddAcharya had long beard with meesai, since they were GREAT devotees of Udayavar and involved in continous kainkaryam.

In general, Only SriVaikuntam (Nithya Vibhothi, a.k.a Spiritual world) has only Suddha Satvam (No Rajas/Tamas), so a MukthAthma who reach SriVaikuntam by Ramanuja Sambhandham enjoy the bliss of Suddha Satvam by doing Continous Kainkaryam called as ‘Nithya Kainkaryam’, since we there is No sleep due to No Tamas, and No karmik actions due to No rajas and we dont have karmas in SriVaikuntam as it is erased when a Ramanuja Sambhandhi crosses Virajai Nadhi.

Lets all get Ramanuja Sambhandham through Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Anugraham and reach Acharya ThiruvAdi SriVaikuntam for Nithya Kainkaryam.

As Swami says,
” Piraviyin Payan Piravaamai “.
(The purpose of this birth is not to take Rebirth).

Adiyean!

Excellent reply from Kongil Piratti Bhaghavatha!

To summarise, all the three Ghunas exist in every human/Aathma irrespective of Varna Ashrama Dharama.

It depends upon the individual Aathmaa as well as Karma, Ruchi, Vaasanaa that determines which Ghuna to dominate/prevail more than the other.

Hence, if an Aathma is born as Brahmana and with Bhaghwan/Aacharyar’s wishes and blessings Saathveegha ghuna exhibits more then this Aathma could ignore or control well the other two ghunas even entwined with by chance. However, if the same Brahmana aathma looks deviating from its varna ashrama dharma then it means it is yet to reach its original (Mukhthi) path. It could have destined this varna due to its previous Punya palan etc., and so on. However, with Aachrya/Bhaghavan’s kirubhai, the same aathma can quickly regain its original path.

Whereas, Shathriyas for that matter, exhibit Rajasa gunans more than the other two gunas due to their kharma (destined to born as King based on previous kharmas). However, it is good if they exhibit Sathva ghuna more as this is not harm. Some kings were very pious and thus built so many temples etc.,

Hence, exhibiting of one’s ghuna also depends upon the degree of Ghana (wisdom) that this Aathma possessed. If an Aathma is almost approaching Aacharya path (towards Mukthi) then only Sathva ghuna will prevail (dominate)more than the other two and not impacted by the other two at all.

Keeping meesai/dhadi during some period doesn’t impact oneself if He exhibits sathva ghuna more.

Adiyean Ramanuja Dhasan.

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruvae Namaha,

Here is a link to our ParaBrahmam SriRangam Urchavar SriRama “NamPerumal” when took Shatriya Kula Manushya Avataram, had Meesai to establish Dharma.

Dhanyosmi kongilpiratti komalsri 2000 for wonderful answer but adiyen not fully understood as to why meesai with dhaadi allowed in many cases including maha rishis , Swamy Koorathaazhwaan . Adiyen think for yoga path it is required and they are Yogis.

May be in forest there is no time for kshavaram. What about grhasthAs?

We know about shikai significance but adiyen don’t know meesai with dhaadi importance.

Does it depend on what yogam we follow like karma nyAna bhakthi yogam?

Can we say Swamy Koorathaazhwaan aachaara sreshtar srivaishnavar did not have time for kshavaram due to kainkaryam?

Does kainkaryam allow meesai with dhaadi?

Apologies for mistake in the tone but the intention is to know the rules

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Alternatively Muslims keep only dhaadi and not meesai. They do everything opposite to us. If we say sun, they say moon. If we say East they say West.

So adiyen need to find out the truth behind hair and its position.

Same hair if it is out of body it is considered “anAchAram”.

Same hair if it is at some places we give importance like “Shikai” (Kudumi). Brahmnanukku azhagEy andha Kudumi dhAn!!!

* What about meesai without dhaadi?
* Meesai with dhaadi?
* What about dhaadi without meesai?
* What about clean shave?

Adiyen simply thought if we have meesai, it touches tongue, so food get spoilt before it is eaten!
