Dear Vikram BhagavAta,

BhagavAta is funny. BhagavAta is understanding in opposite way of what Swami is saying.

Short Answer with Acharya Krupai and Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Arul,

• The Long route Prayaschittam (Atonement) for BhagavAta Apacharam (Offense) 1 crore years is to teach us a lesson that it is practically impossible to do the prescribed tapas for 1crore years to compensate for one Apacharam, since we don’t have Nisthai at all, and what happens if we commit another Apacharam while doing this 1crore year Prayaschittam, so it is a never ending process. So BhagavAn’s message through Swami in that upanyasam is, “DON’t do any Apacharams at all”, since we are not CAPABLE of completing 1 crore year Tapas, so that, this fear will make us avoid from committing any Apacharams (offenses), since it is against BhagavAn’s Happiness.

• The Short Route as said by Swami Vedanta Desikan in “Rahasya Traya Saaram”is, we should ask for Aparadha Pariharam whole heartedly (Paava Mannippu) by Mind (மனம்), Speech (மொழி) & Vabhusham/Bodily Shastaanga Pranaamam (மெய்) to the same BhagavAtA whom we committed offense inorder to avoid BhagavAn’s Kopam/Anger, though the affected BhagavAta never gets Kopam/anger, due to “BhagavAta Lakshanam”. And further, we also need to Repent for current mistakes, and Take an Oath that we are not going to commit mistakes again, then BhagavAn will help.

As far as “Who is a BhagavAta”, Swami has said in one of the Enpani that “we cannot decide ourselves that we are a BhagavatA, rather we are supposed to keep following “How a BhagavAta should behave “BhagavAtA Lakshanam” and one of the BhagavAta Lakshanam is nothing but to consider, “all others are BhagavAta’s from our view point (irrespective of any Sampradhayam or religion), since they are JeevAthma’s Property of Same BhagavAn like us and not our property”, and Swami has said that BhagavAn is the ONLY Judge to decide who is a BhagavAtA, and who is not a BhagavAtA.

Overall, Swami’s message is, Why do Apacharam (Offense to any BhagavAta knowingly) and then why unnecessarily spent time looking for Prayaschittam (Atonement) due to fear of BhagavAn’s Kopam/Anger, instead Repent for current mistakes and AVOID Future Apacharams (Sins Knowingly committed) Completely and spend that time in Fruitful way by searching for ways on how to “improve Satva Guna and do more Kainkaryams”. Swami’s all Enpani’s, Upanyasams have plenty of information’s on these areas.

Overall, we SHOULD NOT understand incorrectly from Swami’s upanyasams as “Prayaschittam (Atonement)” of 1 crore year Tapas or just asking Verbal Sorry is an authorization to do Apacharam (Offenses). So, let’s follow correct perspective based on Swami Vedanta Desikan’s Granthams via Swami’s Upanyasams that BhagavAta Apacharam is a hindrance to get BhagavAn’s Arul for this Materialistic life as well as for Moksham.
