Srimathe ramanujaya namahai

A kind namaskaram to all bhagavatas 🙏

I have a smarta friend, who will always questions me. His questions include:

1) Why did veda vyasa wrote rajasika and tamasika puranas ??

2) If we consider puranas written by veda vyasa such as shrimad bhagavatam, vishnu puranam, varaha puranam as pramanam, why not his other puranams ?, Since all was said by him.

3) We accept tulakaveri mahatmyam with Agneya puranam as pramanam. But it is a rajasika puranam and it also equates vishnu, shiva and shakti. How can one accept tula kaveri mahatmyam and leave the rest chapters ?

4) why did veda vyasa said shiva , skanda as para brahmam in shiva, linga and skanda puranas ??

5) If we accept an rishi, we should accept all his works. Why only accepting his brahma sutra and some puranas, but leaving the rest ??

Kindly enlighten me with your answers.

Adiyen dasan 🙏🙏

Brahmanda purana comes under raajasika purana and it talks about vishnu, shiva, shakti, etc.., Even lalitha sahasranamam is present in brahmanda puranam. It also talks about advaita like yoga vasistha. But manavala mamunigal has quoted it in many areas including his commentary on gyana saaram.
Why one part of the purana is quoted and accepted and remaining portion are disagreed ???

Although yoga vasistha was written by valmiki maharishi, why was it not accepted ?? We accept valmiki’s ramayanam but not his yoga vasistha . Why ???

Please forgive me, if I’m wrong 🙏🙏

Sri:

Firstly, superb questions, appreciated.

Will share what adiyen know from upanyasams and other sources & let Swamy answer at his free time.

1. 1) Why did veda vyasa wrote rajasika and tamasika puranas ??

Adhu VyAsara dhAn kekkanum. May be he did time pass

On a serious note: Human is Mishra Sathvam as devareer know. It clearly denotes, if Rajasam & Tamasam is high, we will take wrong decisions.

Velukkudi Swamy used to say:
1. Vipareetha GyAnam – Opposite meaning thinking
2. Anyatha GyAnam (not sure of Sanskrit word) – Different meaning thinking I believe

So Brahmikka vaaipu undu.

Srimath Varaha Mahadesika Swamy sAdhippAr, learn form bonafide guru for correct knowledge.

Therefore, if Rajasam & Tamasam is high, decisions of considering Para Brahmam will go wrong.

VyAsar showcased this.

As Brahmam is Shuddha Sathvam,

Why did Bruhu Maharishi & co had doubt on who is sAthvika God?

Why lord Srinivasan considered SAthvika Perumal?

Devareer tell me.

2) If we consider puranas written by veda vyasa such as shrimad bhagavatam, vishnu puranam, varaha puranam as pramanam, why not his other puranams ?, Since all was said by him

Answered above, deiveekam is about sAthveekam.
Recently heard Bhagavath Geetha upanyasam by Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy.

There he says, according to Sri Krishna, out of all thyAgams, SAthveeka ThyAgam is MOST IMPORTANT

3) We accept tulakaveri mahatmyam with Agneya puranam as pramanam. But it is a rajasika puranam and it also equates vishnu, shiva and shakti. How can one accept tula kaveri mahatmyam and leave the rest chapters ?

Srimath Andavan Sri Rangaramanuja Mahadesika Swamy SAdhippAr, Sri VaishNavam Pundram , shanku Chakra Lanchanam, SamAshrayanam is said in SkAnda PurANam. Swamy Desika hits their own ball for sixer.

Meaning, the inference of Sri VaishNavam is “constant”. All rest is variant.

Body keeps changing, AthmA doesn’t.

Srivaishnavam doesn’t change.

4) why did veda vyasa said shiva , skanda as para brahmam in shiva, linga and skanda puranas ??

Upanishad says”Sa Brahma sa Shiva sa Indra Sokshara parama swarat”

The swaroopam of Para Brahmam exists in everyone as NarayaNa is all.

Swaroopa Bedham kidaiyAdhu.

TAthparya ChandrikA also says the same.

So we can say, while angry Perumal is looking like Rudra.

Rest Velukkudi Swamy answer. Swamy has to answer this question. This will strengthen Srivaishnavam integrity.

5) If we accept an rishi, we should accept all his works. Why only accepting his brahma sutra and some puranas, but leaving the rest ??

Idha solliye AgaNum. Some 10 years before,
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy refuted Devi PurANam/BhAgavatham as to why it is not Para Brahmam in Sanskrit with its own shlokam in it.

I.e. with their own shlokam. Swamy said some mistake is there. Therefore cannot be considered Para Brahmam.

Adiyen was listening while going to office in Bus in Bangalore.

Adiyen got goosebumps.

Point is, adiyen not understand to that level. Super intricate knowledge of Swamy. Incredible authority.

See, even Swamy refutes with Sanskrit shlokam, we should be in position to understand it. Adiyen not that much qualified.

Sri:

Although yoga vasistha was written by valmiki maharishi, why was it not accepted ??

Adiyen observation: Real YogA is stopped till nAtha Muni Swamigal.

We don’t accept Kapila upadesham also in Srimath Bhagavatham. Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy says it is different book etc. So it is acceptable.

AFAIK we usually don’t accept Kapila if it is against Vedic principles even if it is said by God.

That’s the beauty of Sri VaishNavam. Paguthu Arivu.

We accept Parashuram in Dasha avathAram.

We say “Parashuram Garva Bhangam” in Srimath Ramayanam. We don’t worship him individually.

May be Keralities do, I don’t know.

Swamy NambAduvAn refused Perumal and said he will keep up his word to Brahma Rakshas.

Dharmar refused to listen to Perumal when Sri Krishna himself asked him to say truth differently. Ashwathama Adha: Kunjara episode.

Buddha , Azhwar says “Kalla AvathAram of Narayana” (My dad used to say).

Do we accept Buddha?

We accept the Parama Hamsa quality of ParivrAjakar.

Acharya gives us nectar we take it. We don’t mind if it comes from soil or some good source. It is the nectar that matters.

Lotus comes from soil so what? We take lotus not the soil.

To summarize, yoga today is commercialized.

Who really cares if it is Patanjali or Valmiki or Nadamuni?

One bottle Patanjali honey cost
One bottle Valmiki Ghee cost
One bottle Nadamuni SAmbrAni cost

Is all matters today

Yoga = Physical fitness?
Yoga concept itself is to forget the body
Do against nature
Stop breathing
Stopping consumption (intake) from this world
Stopping what we do naturally & going against the wave.

Eg: Dhruvan

Recently listened (rare upanyasam listing) Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy in Geetha Upanyasam says ” Never stop your Nithya KarmAnushtAnam”

If you keep sitting with closed eyes, how Nithya Karma can be achieved? Applicable even for Mosksha sharanAgathan.

In Kali, Yuga dharamam is Sankeerthanam
DhyAnam lost its lustre in Krutha Yugam itself

So Yoga is not carried forward in its essence today obviously

Thank you vikram swamy, now i’m understanding but want to get more detailed explanation from our swamy.

“As Brahmam is Shuddha Sathvam,

Why did Bruhu Maharishi & co had doubt on who is sAthvika God?

Why lord Srinivasan considered SAthvika Perumal?

Devareer”
– vikram swamy

Yes swamy 🙏 I accept. Brahmam is suddha sarvam and it is only sriman narayan.
But advaitis don’t accept this, as according to them brahmam is neutral and don’t have any guna.

We can able to defeat them, through some other valid points. Since, adiyen is a neechan, i dont know. Can you please tell me some other points known to you ??

Sriman Narayana’ is GuNAtheethan
It means “Gunangalukku appArpattavan”
Not
“Gunangal attravan”
Swamy

Advaitis were already defeated by Sri Ramanuja , Sri Maamunigal & Sri Desikan

Few more points:
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy referenced
“Brahmathukku Brahmai Pidichirukka”?

Until Bedha is acknowledged , this counter question cannot be answered.

Therefore VishistAdvaitam.

As Brahmam itself cannot have agnyAnam and come out of it, therefore BhokthA Bhogyam, Andavan-Adiyen relationship is recognised.

Mithya = Lie?

Can a truth emerge from lie?
If this creation is lie, Bhagavath Geetha & Vedam also lie.(Paradox)

Sri Ramanujar asked Kanchi Varadar
“Bedam or Abedham”?

Perumal said:
“Bedhamey SiddhAntham”

What else we need? Who are advaiti to agree or not agree?

There is only one Brahmam. Setting levels to Brahmam will lead to dosham. (Don’t remember what dosham name).

There is no Para Brahmam & Iha Brahmam.

Aadi Shankarat tried to set levels which Swamy Desikan countered.

What lower Brahmam.& Higher Brahmam,?

EkamEva adwitheeyam

Please ask counter question:
If Shivan is Brahmam
If he has no Gunam
How is he asuthoshi? (Immediate granter of wish?)

How something which has no GuNa even be considered supreme & worshipped?
Are they confused?

If Shiva has Gunam he is not Brahmam (Supreme) do they agree?

Namaskaram Sundara Ramanuja Swami,

adiyen would like to give a simple answer to a profound question. We all use maps app on our smartphones these days. When we try to reach a destination using the maps app, the app provides more than one route to the same destination. There might be a best-suggested route but it may be through a highway where you need to drive at high speeds (In Germany, we have autobahns where there is no speed limit and you’ll be fined if you go slow) and manage vehicles traveling in multiple lanes and alternatively, there might be a longer route which may go through small towns and allow you to drive at lower speeds. Like how the government has provided different routes to reach the same destination, our most merciful acharyas have given us different paths to the same destination to help different jeevatmas with varying conditioning (as said by Nammalwar “விண்ணவர் புகுவது மன்னவர் விதியே” – so all of us will reach Him one day). So that’s why it’s important to have an acharya who will pick and recommend the right path for us based on our conditioning. Hope this will help devareer with a better understanding.

“acharya who will pick and recommend the right path for us based on our conditioning”

Hitham need not be Sukham Swamy

Our conditioning need to be altered for the right path.

There is no right path for our condition

Has any Sri Vaishnavite acharya asked shishya to pray to “Muruga” for a specific wish taking jyothisha shAstram as baseline?

Lord Murugan acknowledged himself as son of Shiva. If that’s the case, there cannot be father to Brahmam.

Brahmam has no source
Brahmam is the source

Ref: Gajendra Moksham

KaruNaiye VadivAnavar
If lord is merciful
How is he devoid of mercy?

This is the problem with Advaitis
They try to corrate two directly opposite vAkhyams of Vedas

If I am Brahmam, why am I bound by Karma?
I myself chose to be a fool or what?

Swamy, usually I’m afraid of asking these types of questions to my beloved acharya. From Sundara Ramanuja dasan

Sanatana Dharmam has always encouraged us to ask questions. When Arjuna asked a question “Bhagavad Gita” was born, when Yudistra asked the question “Vishnu Sahasranamam” was born, when the sages of Naimisaranyam asked the question, Srimad Bhagvatham was born the second time (1st time is when Parikshit asked the question), when Valmiki asked the question “Sri Ramayanam” was born and the list keeps going on. Sri Velukkudi Swamigal has encouraged us many times to ask questions. This whole forum itself is to ask questions. So no question is a wrong question but the intention definitely matters. So with the right intention, pls ask questions to acharyas and certainly, you’ll get perfect answers!

Vikram Swami,

adiyen never said “Hitham need not be Sukham Swamy”. But in Gita itself, Kannan shows us 4 different paths (Karma, Gyana, Bhakti and Saranagathi) to the same destination and all are the right paths but why it’s only because of our levels of conditioning. We have 4 different varnashrama dharmas and all lead to the same destination and all are the right paths but why it’s only because of our levels of conditioning. We certainly need an acharya to guide the right path that will be suitable for our conditioning.

Sundara Ramanuja dasan Swamy
Devareer correct. We cannot simply ask questions. We cannot stop asking also. Politely if we ask Acharya will do anugraham in a way we can understand.

Secondly, acceptance level.

We should not do Vaaku Vadam with Acharya

That’s because, devotion is their life
For us “devotion” is part of life

Also we must act according to AcharyA instructions

If we don’t follow what Swamy instructed
Yet we ask questions

It’s like student coming to classroom without doing homework

Most of the times, the mantra or japa Acharyan tells us to do, will elevate us to higher levels to prepare us for better understanding

This is from adiyen’s personal experience

Avar manam KoNAmal nadandhu Kolla vendum

Please ask “Open ended questions”

Like:

Why Veda vyAsa wrote purANAs with different GuNams?
Instead of asking:
why are we not accepting other purANAs?

Also, adiyen must say,
Adiyen took Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy for granted many occasions and asked twisted questions. Swamy due to his magnanimity blessed adiyen

Never knew such a platform even existed in first place.

Perriyava manasu PUN pada kudadhu
That should be our only goal!

1) Why did veda vyasa wrote rajasika and tamasika puranas ??From Sundara Ramanuja dasan

I was going through some information in the internet and found the following as the answer given by Sri. U Ve Velukkudi Krishnan swamy, for one of the questions.

Question : Why did SriVeda Vyasa write 18 puranas ? In each purana a diety is shown as supreme. Why didn’t he show directly that Bhagavan Krishna that is Sriman Naraayana is the supreme being. Why so many puranas ?

Answer : Brahma himself propounded the 18 puranas – 6 satvika puranas when he was overwhelmed with satva guna and similarly 6 rajasa puranas and 6 tamasa puranas. He also guides us to eventually follow the satvika puranas. If only satvika puranas were available, then the people who are rajasas and tamasas would go astray as atheists. To cater to them, he preached all the three types so that they would slowly mature to follow Sri Maha Vishnu.
