Adiyen have basic doubt in alwar bhakthi. How can someone reach state of alwar in bhakthi and prarathi in the year 2020. Is there any steps to follow or practice to attain that level?

With Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham Adiyen will share some details about Bhakthi status of Alwars Vs Acharyas Vs Us from Velukkudi Swami’s Upanyasams.
There are two types of BhaddhAthmas
(a.k.a Varungala/Future Prapannan)
One who is interested in Materialistic pleasures, considers satisfying their body is the only goal in their life, a.k.a Dheha Abhimaani (considers Athma and Body as same) தேஹாபிமானி )”.
Athma’vai Veyilil Vaitthu vittu, Udambhai Nizhalil Vaippadhu.
One who is interested in BhagavAt/BhagavAta Kainkaryam and considers Athma and Body are different. Looks for Athma Ujjivanam and Moksham.
Udambhaiai Veyilil Vaitthu vittu, Athma’vai Nizhalil Vaippadhu.
Within Mumukshu’s (Prapannas) after Prapatti are classified in to three categories as per Swami PillaiLokacharyar
“Prapatti pannum adhikaarigal moovar”.
Three types of Prapannas (Mumukkshus) does Prapatthi.
1) Agyar / அக்ஞயர் (அக்ஞானிகள் / ignorant people) :
‘- Bhakthiyin Iyalaamayaal Mukthi/ பக்தியின் இயலாமயால் முக்தி (Due to our incapability to do Bhakthi, we get Moksham)
‘- நம்ம / We all BhaddhAthmas fall in this category.
When we say with true panivu (humbleness) to BhagavAn that “Yennaal Karma-Gyana-Bhakthi (Upasana Maargham) PANNA MUDIYADHU (I CANNOT do Bhakthi), yeanna yenakku Bhakthi yeppadi pannanumnu THERIYADHU, adhanaalaey thaan bhakthi panna mudiyadhunnu sonnaen“. BhagavAn always likes Panivu/ThannAdakkam (humbleness/humility) and in-addition for the joy of doing Bhakthi, when we utter few words like karmas, no paavam and no punyam gives Moksham, eventhough we don’t know the full details of it, BhagavAn thinks “Paravaillayaey, ivan Agyanaaga (ignorant) irundhaalum, ivan ivalavu vaarthaikal therinju vatchu irukiranaey, appadeennu ninaichu, Aanandha pattu, BhagavAn stamps the word Bhakthi on us and Moksham yenkira saamrajyathayaey kodukkiraan namakku”.
Idhu namma nilai / இது நம்ம நிலை.
2) Gyanaadhikar / ஞானாதிகர் :
‘- Bhatkhiyin Aadhikatthaal Mukthi / பக்தியின் ஆதிக்கத்தால் முக்தி (Due to their Capability to do Bhakthi, they get Moksham).
‘- Acharyars fall under this category.
Swami Ramanuja Acharyar who has full of Gyanam (Knowlegde), Capacity & Ability about Karma-Gyana-Bhakthi and Shranagathy, still says with Panivu and ThannAdakkam to BhagavAn that “naan Bhakthi PANNA MAATAEN (I WILLNOT do Bhakthi)“, since it is the duty of BhagavAn to take me to Moksham “Yennai kaapathuvadhu Kai Piditha Kanavarin Kadamai, appadi irukka, naan yean muyarchi seyya vendum”. At the same time, Swami continued to do the Acharam/Anushtanam/Kainkaryam for the joy of doing the dharmam (ISHTAM SEIKAI / do what BhagavAn likes), since BhagavAn has said to do it in shastras.

3) Gyana VisheshaYukthar / ஞான விஷேஷயுக்தர் :
‘- Bhakthiyin ParaVasatthaal Mukthi / பக்தியின் பரவசத்தால் முக்தி (Due to Alwars Ecstasy in Bhakthi, they get Moksham)
‘- Alwars fall in this category.
BhagavAn’ai ninaithalaaey “oru paravasam (Ecstasy), oru padapadappu (heartbeat increase), oru vetkkam (shy) eppadi irukkira nilayil, naan mayangi (faint) mayakkam pottu vidukiraen BhagavAn Naamatthai keatta udan, appuram Bhakthi YEPPADI PANNUVAEN (I COULD’NT do Bhakthi). So, Bhakthi ParaVasathaal Mukthi Alwar’galukku.
Idhu Alwar’galin nilai / இது ஆழ்வார்கள் நிலை.
* Rishis says with Ahambhavam (due to my Pride, I say I can do Bhakthi) that naan Bhakthi Pannuvaen,
* Alwars says naan Bhakthi Yeppadi Pannuvaen (I couldn’t do Bhakthi due to Ecstasy when I think about BhagavAn),
* Acharyas says naan Yean? Bhakthi Pannanum with panivu (Why do I need to do Bhakthi when I rely on BhagavAn ThiruvAdi with humbleness though knowledgeable to do Bhakthi) and
* we Agyar say yennaal Bhakthi Panna Mudiyathu, theriyavum theriyadhu with panivu (I cannot do Bhakthi due to my inability with humbleness and I have no or less knowledge about Bhakthi).
Here, please note that though Alwars and Acharyas were in Samsaram, doesn’t mean they are BhaddhAthma’s. They are “ELITE JEEVATHMAS (உ)” to uplift us the BhaddhAthmas ‘ம’ who are nothing but the Gubhukshu and Mumukshu’s in Agyar category, so that the ParamAthma ‘அ’ Sriman NarayanA could get back HIS Sotthu ‘ம’ (property / us).
Swami says, Let “Acharyars be Acharyars” & “Alwars be Alwars” and lets all be in Alwars/ Acharyars ThiruvAdi Nizhal and continue our Acharam/Anushtanam based on ones own Varna ashramam and do it as Kainkaryam for just the joy of doing it in the rest of this life with YATHA SHAKTHI (to the capacity of whatever we possess) without Apacharam, then we BhaddhAthma’s in Mumukshu category will get Moksham under the sub category as “Agyar“. So this is the answer for the initial question

Nirai irundhaal, Adiyen’udaya Acharyar Krupa’yaal and Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Anugrahathaal.

Not sure about “2020” thing but I say in general modern age
Reaching Alvar level is not possible in present body because Alvars are directly from Vaikunta and we are sadly Not 🙂
Any Non Vaikunta Jiva can reach very higher level of Bhakti but not the level of Alvars without getting Moksha and entrance to Vaikunta
You should understand, although you can’t reach that level of Alvars in this body, you can reach it and beyond after going to Vaikunta
The steps to follow and practice are –
Follow whatever Sri Ramanujacharya said to follow
Make sure to apply the same principles but suitable for modern age

For the above three classifications of Prapannas as per Swami PIllaiLOkacharyAr, adiyen pulled it with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aarivadham from one of Swami’s very old “Bhakthiya Mukthiya?” Upanyasam.
However, if devareer couldn’t locate the above mentioned upanyasam, then Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami has recently said about it “Periya Thirumozhi” Kalakshepam somewhere in Day76 or 86 back in October, which day exactly adiyen don’t remember now, since there is total of 107 days.
Further regarding the Alwars Bkakthi as mentioned about “Bhakthiyin ParaVasatthaal Mukthi / பக்தியின் பரவசத்தால் முக்தி (Due to Alwars Ecstasy in Bhakthi, they get Moksham)”
Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami has said in couple of upanyasams as Alwars are :
மயர்வற மதிநலம் அருள பெற்றவர்கள்
மயர் : means Agyanam (Total Ignorance). Athma covered with Karmas (இருள்).
வற : Removed by BhagavAn Sriman Narayana,
மதி : Gyanam (Knowledge about BhagavAn)
நலம் : Bhakthi roopavanna Gyanam.
அருள பெற்றவர்கள் : Blessed by BhagavAn Sriman NarayanAn directly.
So, Alwars are directly blessed by BhagavAn for Gyanam. Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami also says about the Alwars Bhakthi “மயர்வற மதிநலம் அருள பெற்றவர்கள்” in recent “Upadesa RatnaMaalai Day03” Kalakshepam as well, so please listen when deavreer get chance. Hence Alwars are full of Bhakthi due to BhagavAn’s Kataksham directly, but our situation is not like that. Hence we are in ThiruvAdi Nizhal of such HIGH level Alwars for Athma Ujjivanam. Hence Pillai LokacharyAr says though we are Prapannas (Sharanagathas), we follow the third category as Agyar for Moksham as Velukkudi SriKrishnan Swami says in these topics.
