Taking notes from Swami’s Upanyasams

Srimate Raamaanujaaya Namaha!

Namaskaaram to all Bhaagavathas!

Adiyen realised that not all Upanyasams of Sri U Ve Velukkudi Krishnan Swami can be understood just by hearing them alone. Certain discourses need to be understood by taking notes, otherwise we would forget it.

Adiyen’s mother takes notes in a notebook. My idea is to take notes in a word file. This is because, suppose we recieve an additional point relating to a slokam/pasuram in another discourse of Velukkudi Swami, we can easily update it in a word file. Whereas it is difficult to do so, in a notebook.

Can the Bhaagavathas in this forum give suggestions to adiyen regarding taking notes? I am actually a beginner when it comes to taking notes.

This thread is open for ideas and discussions from members in this forum.

Namaskaram Swami,

3 years back adiyen had started a similar thread unfortunately not doing a lot of follow-ups.
https://www.kinchit.org/dharma-sandeha/thread/notes-from-swamis-lectures/

This is a very important initiative and adiyen has been even thinking of GCP, Azure, or AWS to transcribe Swami’s lectures.

Adiyen has collected over 35,000 hrs of Swami’s lectures and has organized them into proper categories. It’s a herculean task just to take notes, adiyen can’t even imagine how our Swami delivered all these lectures aptly giving him the title “Walking Ramanujar”. Adiyen totally recognizes the need to organize the notes from lectures that can be leveraged by many generations to come.

Adiyen is currently managing a similar initiative for enpani. Adiyen will be very happy and blessed to support this initiative with like-minded volunteers. If interested please send me a private message and we can create a WhatsApp group and discuss the next steps.

adiyen,
Badrinarayana Ramanuja Dasan.

Enna Swamy cloud route poreer?
Written notes always helpful.
We can’t depend on digital storage.
Short lifetime.

Namaskaram Vikram Swami, adiyen thinks there is nothing wrong in using technology advancements to enhance our spiritual knowledge. For eg. this forum itself is based on a modern technology. There are ways to create dependable backups of  digital storage. Written notes are good but digital gives us enhanced ways to share, collaborate, find, analyze and benefit from them. Hope devareer will agree.

Vikram Swami, adiyen is using tip of the iceberg of cloud technology to do this analysis (please refer to the Srirangam 248 count thread)

Namaskaram Swami

A few months ago Adiyen tried to note down whatever was understood when listening to Swamigal’s Bhagavad Gita discourses. After listening to other discourses, adiyen noticed that Swamigal always structures his entire discourse in a chronological order and gives a prelude on what to expect in the entire discourse. Adiyen jotted down these as the high level categories under which other parts of the discourse go and as the various parts of the discourses are heard, adiyen refers to the initial list of high level categories and align the notes correspondingly.

Within the notes, there were other subcategories such as quotes that Swamigal makes from other sources, Swamingal’s explanation on what is the inner meaning of a particular piece, adiyen’s own thoughts on what was understood etc.

This was Adiyen’s humble attempt on notes taking of Swamigal’s teachings.
