Swamy Desikan hated gold but we adorn Swamy’s thirumeni with gold?

Is it not an irony?
We show our material richness for the one who hated it?

Adiyen is sure this will trigger a heated debate but fact is a fact. What we should learn from Swamy is nyAna bhakthi vairAgya and not the material richness.

What did our Swamy gain from Sri Sthuthi? Did Swamy pick a gold coin from the golden rain of Sri Mahalakshmi? Does it mean Swamy discarding thAyAr’s Anugraham of gold coins? Not at all. Why Swamy did not keep anything for own well being nor for the family? What Swamy is trying to teach us?

Yet our Swamy is “Sriman VEnkata nAthArya:” SRIMAAN. Vibheeshana swamy was called SRIMAAN by Valmiki maharishi when he left the material richness before SharanAgathi (on the way in air). Meaning material richness does not hold a value in front of SriRam.

Adiyen did not offer a rupee coin in Desikar sannidhi. As adiyen feel it will not please my AchAryan.

Adiyen offered in Perumal sannidhi .

It is like Buddhist who does not believe in shape or origin beautifying bhuddha statue for worship!

Ideology and practise is always different because people cannot comprehend it.

Should we not “walk the talk”?

Should we not celebrate the simplicity of our AchAryan ?

Adiyen also having one different thinking .. why perumal is loaded too much jewelry and mazhai . Atleast it should be waitless too much heavy for him too .. for eg malayappa swami looks very soft but his jewels are too toooooo much ..

Swami, in many of the upanyasams Velukkudi Swamigal said jewelry for the Lord is to hide the real beauty of the Lord and not to add beauty. In fact he quotes that jewelry gets its beauty after being worn by the Lord! BTW your vatsalya guna is beautiful

True swami .. it’s good to step away from dhrusti .. but if we feel about his sukumaraga thirumeni little hard to feel. Also Sri u ve Velukkudi Krishnan swami told namperumal he just wear only one thin garland .. and Srinivasa perumal 500kg jewels are wearing with the support of a big moongizh kattai..

Anyway adiyen feel
Only few perumal thirumeni are with real jewels most of perumals are simple..
either way we can think about him..

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami in one of the upanyasam has said about Acharya Swami Dhoddaiyacharyar. One time, Swami couldn’t go from Sholinghur to Kanchepuram to get Garuda Sevai Dharshan of Kaanchi VaradaRaja Perumal due to Swami’s Thirumeni Novu, then Swami stood in Sholinghur Thakkan kulam and was emotionally shedding tears due to the misfortune, then VaradaRaja Perumal thought,

Andha Oru Adiyavanukku Naam sevai Saadhitthal thaan namakku Thrupthi yerpadum

(அந்த ஒரு அடியவனுக்கு நாம் சேவை சாதித்தால் தான் நமக்கு திருப்தி ஏற்படும் )

Swami says,

BhakthanAmthvA PrakashasEy as said in Pramaanam (Shastras).

Means,

Perumaludaya Uruvamo, Thiru Aabharanagalo,  Ayudhangalo,  Utsavangalo,

Idhu itthanayum Bhaktargalukkuagavey endru, thanakkuaaga alla.

(பெருமாளுடைய உருவமோ,  திருஆபரங்களோ,  ஆயுதங்களோ,  உட்சவங்களோ

இது இத்தனையும் பக்தர்களுக்கு ஆகவே என்று, தனக்காக அல்ல )

Adhunaalaey dhaan Perumal “Bhakthargalukku aagavey Prakashikkiraai yendru Shastram solliyadhu as “Bhakthanamthva Prakashasey”. Same way, Swami Ramanujar or Swami Desikan or Swami Manavaala Maamunigal or Swami Dhoddaiyacharyar though they lived their actual life in a simple way, but for Bhakta’s like us, THEY give their sevai with “Alankaaram” as BhakthanAmthvA PrakashasEy..

So, Perumal hide HIS sevai for few minutes in Kancheepuram covering with the Two Kudai (Umberllas) Infront of HIM and then Perumal appeared in Sholinghur Thakkam Kulam and gave Garuda Sevai with all HIS alankaaram to HIS Bhakta Swami Dhoddaiyacharyar as BhakthanAmthvA PrakashasEy.

This is still popularly celebrated as “Dhoddiyacharyar Swami Sevai” in Kanchepuram during Garuda vahana Sevai.

Beautifully said as BhagavAn satisfies 4 types of Bhaktas.

Adiyen would like to summarize that all BhagavAtas has said in this thread referencing to Swami’s Pravachanams.

 

1) Nivethitha BhagavAta’s view point is about Perumal is Sukumaran (Child Kuzhandhai SriKrishna). This is “Vaatsalya Bhavam“, like a Mother taking care of her Child with affection, Since Perumal’s Thirumeni is Soft and Why such Heavy weight Alankarams.

Reference: PeriyaAlwar’s Mother Love towards SriKrishna in Paasuram “Neerattam, Poochoodhal” etc….as “NaranA Odadhey engai Vaarai………..” & “Senbhaka Poo CHootta Vaarai”….Don’t Run SriKrishna, come here for Bathing and then Flower decorations, etc……..

 

2) Badrinarayana BhagavAta’s view point is about Perumal is Azhagan (So Dhrusti pattidum). This is “Rakshna Bhavam“, again Mother’s deep caring of her child ‘Protection’ from others evil eyes. Thannudaya Kuzhandhai Azhagai (“Nija Roopa Sevai”) maraipadharkku (to hide) Alankaram seivadhu.

3) KongilPiratti BhagavAta’s view point is about Perumal is Rajadhi Raja (King of Kings) and we are HIS servants. This is “Shesha Bhavam to reflect Perumal’s “Swamithvam Gunam)”.

Our Perumal is Supreme King. Oru Raja (SriRama), Thannudaya Gambeeratthai yeppadi velipadutthanumo, adharkku uriya alankaratthai, naam adiyavargal Perumalukku Seiyya vaendum. So Perumal Bhakthargalukku aagavey Prakashikkiraar as said in Shastram as “Bhakthanamthva Prakashasey“. Perumaludaya Uruvamo, Thiru Aabharanagalo, Ayudhangalo, Utsavangalo, Idhu itthanayum Bhaktargalukkuagavey endru, thanakkuaaga alla,

 

All these types Vaatsalya Bhavam, Rakshana Bhavam, Shesha Bhavam each are 100% BhagavAt anubhavam.

 

Alwars & Acharyas are representatives of Perumal. So, we apply the same, that is applied to Perumal by doing Alankaram for Alwar/Acharya’s Archai Deities.

Moreover, we should give Gold coins or Money at Alwar-Acharyas Sannidhis, not Just for their Archai forms to appear ‘Swamithivam’, but also for the BhagavtA’s/Archagar’s families sustenance who are DEDICATELDY doing service to BhagavAn, Thayar, Alwars & Acharyas and they don’t have another source of income. The money that we put in Hundi goes to the Temple Trustees, and may not sometimes reach the BhagavtA’s/Archagar’s hands. So, lets support the Kainkarya BhagavAta’s & Priests who do dedicated BhagavAt Kainkaryam by providing them what they need directly in their hands, wherever possible.
