Recently a relative committed suicide because of financial problems. We are told that only Bhagavan decides when we have to leave this universe. Since suicide is against nature / dharma sastra what will happen to that atma. As all our actions and thoughts are influenced by Bhagavan, is this also His action.

The Atma has to roam around and even has to struggle to a great extent in of getting a New Shareeram, to reduce the Karmas.
Every Jeevan is given Swatantrayam by Bhagwan, in order to decide what is right and wrong (Pagutha Arivu) and to make a decision accordingly. Even for this action of your relative or for that matter any individual, Bhagwan would have been Udaseenan, however, implicitly he must have created situations in order to make that jeevan to understand the correct thinking and to avoid, thread Devarir posted.

Suicide happen due to unhealthy mind. Unhealthy mind happen due to bad Karma.
Bad Karma happen due to will of Jiva. Not because Bagawan likes his expansions to do bad Karma.
As per vedic astrology, Moon or Chandra is responsible for health of mind. Venus or Shukra is responsible for wealth. When they are ill placed mishaps happen. The reason is bad deeds in past life or this.
What will happen for that Atma who committed suicide? It depends on the person.
If the person was devoted to God, he will be saved from going hell. He will get human birth depending on his deeds. Who knows, he or she might go heavens too. I’m not sure he or she get liberation, because it depends on that person deeds and intentions.
If the person was not devoted to God, he go hell.
Suicide is not against nature or with nature. It’s just fruit of bad intentions and bad Karma.
Mental health support and Vedic remedy should be performed like giving charity. Important is obeying the orders of God like Saranagti, Bhakti etc

As per Krishnan Swami’s upanayasams which are the works of Poorvacharyas, Never has Krishnan Swami ever mentioned about, an individual when commits suicide ( Aatmahathi), wrongly used freewill to end the life, would definitely not reach any heavenly abodes but yes could reach hell and thereafter would be roaming in the bhoolokam for a shareeram. Even if an individual who is a devotee of the lord, why would he get engaged in all such acts which displeases him.

It’s just fruit of bad intentions and bad Karma.” Yes the 2nd part is true, as an individual needs to get extreme “wrongful” willpower to perform such an extremely heineous act. Nevertheless, the first part, is false, Suicide is not against the nature, because an individual commiting it, is restricting the opportunities for other chetanans for udjeevanam, if by any chance. consider for eg. Sita Devi thought of Hanging herself in Taapam, and that’s where Anjaneya came and stopped her of commiting the act, and because of that, we all bhagwatas got Sri Rama- Sita Pattabhishekam Serthi, We got Kusha and Luva who recited the whole Valmiki Ramayanam in front of Sri Rama, what we can get out of it is ” The Mahatmayam of Satsangam” because even Sri Rama wanted to be mingled with other Bhagwatas, and as a LokaSangraham Sri Rama Taught us that.

– Suicide is not committed on free will. It’s Akala Mruthu. It’s just like any other death. Death are NOT decided by freewill. It’s always fixed for persons depending on past activities. No one can live 1 min less or 1 min more then he is destined.

– No death or death or diseases or happiness depends on will power. It’s destiny due to karma etc in past life. You don’t say if a person died of heart attack used his will power to do so. Suicide is due to underlying mental disease, just like heart attack is related to underlying physical disease/conditions etc
