Dear Swami / Periyavas,

Adiyen Ramanujadasan,

Adiyen heard from known hindu big supporters that soon Hindus are going to be minorities at Chennai Anna Nagar and Thiruvallikeni and it’s dominated by Christians and Muslims respectively. This is the most shocking info I came to know in the recent times via Twitter One observation. Ppl who convert always buy land in a large number n areas close to Hindu worship. In many major cities, they occupy prime lands. No one questions the source of fund for them. Where are we, why our TN brothers looking interest on other religion, religious activities ! Important Hindu belt goes to others hand how to attach to Divya Desam. in TN many Hindu people love other religions than their own 🙁  !

Point to ponder. Probably we have been been following our acharyas as good as we should be; probably we have not been following the instructions to be kind to everyone and help everyone make progress towards the ultimate goal of life. May be we have been holding an elitist attitude that has distanced the common man; now they don’t know the real goal of life, purpose of religion, and how to practise discrimination.

Simply “holding hands togeher” and making a big cry will at best result in a political stunt.

We need to introspect seriously and mend our ways at the individual level and family level. (how many of us are able to impart the significance of this dharma to our next generation effectively?!!!).

When we are serious about this, Perumal will make the necessary arrangements to change other factors.

Otherwise…..

Namaskaaram Swami,

Adiyen can understand your concern. Please allow me to share my perspective. Recently about a month ago even I visited Tiruvallikeni. Although it is a Divyadesam, the place surrounding the temple was not clean. The surrounding place is not being maintained properly.

The reason why people are not interested is because, most people are either confused or don’t even know what is given in the sastras. And although preachers like Sri Velukkudi Swami, do their best, it is still in the hands of his followers, i.e., us to propagate the message to others.

Nowadays, I see some saying that “People are not caring for Hinduism” or “People are converting to other religions”,etc. But I’ve learnt that there is no point in simply saying these things. We must try to propagate the correct thing given in the scriptures.

Another reason could be the false propaganda propagated by media and some ‘politicians’.

By the way, even if we say that we want to protect ‘hinduism’, there are a lot of ‘hindus’, who misrepresent the sastras, or don’t even quote anything from Vedas. This is a very serious concern now. They put the title of their lectures like “Mahabharatha in my perspective”, “என் பார்வையில் கீதை”, etc. Which means it is not authoritative. They don’t even quote anything from the sastras. So a large lump of people follow these people. And unfortunately I have to face these kind of people in my life frequently.

One of the followers of such people even came to me and forced me to say that “Accept that Krishna is a villain. Karna is the hero of Mahabharata”. Now this is definitely nonsense. And this is also offensive.

I am sorry as I think I drifted away from your main topic. But if anyone is reading this, I would also like to know your thoughts.

Swamy when we promote people cornering as are you Brahmin ? or RSS ? or BJP ? ! if any of these true they don’t listen to you and say that whats your contribution to this Nation, Untouchability concepts, etc.. its not easy to push the Big essence of ENPANI medicine. trying my level best, feedback is 1/10, send one likes.

Namaskaaram Swami,

Yes. This is the unfortunate situation we are facing. They try to label us like this.

Actually whenever I quote anything from the Bhagavad gita and other sastras, the people who hear are generally not interested. They say “Bhagavad gita is wrong” and that they are saying it is a propagation of Brahmins, etc.

Eventhough, I am not a Brahmin, people sometimes ridicule me for being a vegetarian and not eating onion, garlic, etc. They say “Are you going to join the Brahmins?” and laugh.

Sometimes people use words like ‘Sanghi’, to denote people who support Sanatana Dharmam . This is a popular word nowadays.

But still we have to try to propagate the message. I’ll quote verse from 9th Chapter, 31st verse of the Bhagavad gita:

kṣipraṁ bhavati dharmātmā
śaśvac-chāntiṁ nigacchati
kaunteya pratijānīhi
na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati

Translation:
“He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes.”

So Bhagavān Śri Krishna is giving us the assurance that His devotees will never perish. Normally, if Bhagavān gives us a promise we have to have faith that it is definitely true. But here, He is asking Arjuna to declare that His devotee never perishes. So this means that this particular promise of Bhagavān must be taken seriously.

So our duty is to become even more serious in doing Bhakti to Bhagavān. And then after that, we can propagate the message without fear.

I hope this helps.

Swamy when we promote people cornering as are you Brahmin ? or RSS ? or BJP ?From Govindan Narayanan

Swamy, this perception of people is influenced by a lot of factors. One of the significant factors is how we present ourselves. In our conversations if we mix politics and dharma, they are likely to see even our dharma messages as political message.

In our common discussions we must either completely avoid political discussions and limit ourselves only to dharmic topics, OR if at all we discuss politics we must take a neutral stance; we must not hesitate to point out the minus of one party just because we have a soft corner for them as ‘hindu supporters’. Such people who ‘support’ hindus for their political ambitions cause more harm to the dharma than others.

Secondly, there is absolutely no point is mass propaganda by forwarding messages to others. As Thirukachchi swamy has said, we must work with a small number of people (even one person) who know our genuineness, and who trust us. We must help them deepen their faith in our dharma.

Unfortunately, many are not even able to convince their spouse and children! Then how are we doing to change so many people outside the family. Therefore the best is to start with a small number of people who are already close to us; may be family members; may be colleagues.

Without this, simply forwarding messages will only have the effect of getting ourselves steroetyped by others.

Please read Bhagavad Gita 18.67 and 18.68. Also ready 10.9.

Before closing let me reiterate once: during discussions please stick to pure spiritual message alone; do not mix it with political messages.

Namaskaaram Kambandasan Swami,

True Swami. I forgot to add this in my previous post. Thanks for addressing that we mustn’t mix spiritual messages and politics.

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha,

I agree with Kamabandasan swamy , if we focus on our personal adherence to sastra and implement it in family level it will slowly help the society in large. (Yes the elitist’s feeling should also be given up by sanatana dharma followers.. not all of them have this.. but a small percentage).

But the main area to focus is as indicated in this year’s new calendar that Swami published (stories form purana) in that in the cover page (you can call it 1st page or last page)  in that swami has indicated how these Puraanas were part of educational system until 18th century or so.. so the society was educated well on the principles of Sanatana  Dharma..but after British Educational system these Puranaas etc. were wiped out from educational system… the effect of that is what we are seeing now..

So one solution could be to revive the educational system.. inculcate puraanas etc as part of curriculum, if not there should be more veda pata saalas, or in the worst case each parent must educate their own children and neighboring children(those who are interested , (but may be via video conference in these times)) in the weekends using Kinchit Yuva Vikas Audios, this years calendar stories, Videos from youth spiritual development program etc..

It can be as simple as narrating a story  form puraanas as indicated in the calendar..

Once the conviction is formed in young age, then when they are adults, they will not be confused.

Namaskaaram Swami,

I can understand what you are saying. Another point is while narrating the Puranas, we have to try to be exact to the point. We should try not to drift away from the message.

Srimate Rammanujaye Namaha

After posting in this thread then when i heard today’s enpani audio # 2105, there were quite important points that Swami had indicated which i think is relevant to this discussion.

Swami indicated that awareness can eb created by propoganda through various channels, but to inculcate bhakti to make the teachings part of daily life, it requires effort and care and depends on the level of bhakthi of the person teaching as well.

So it comes back to our own personal practices and focusing on our own purity and bhakthi, which will automatically spread to others if Bhagawan desires so.

I think for normal persons , this is best accomplished in one to one platform..i.e. one person to discuss with one other person.. but as Govinda Narayanan Swamy indicated there will not be many takers.. so we will have to build a  good relationship for some long time , until they see us as their well wishers.. and then when their hearts are softened then they will give a try of what we suggest via hearing upanyasams etc..

But Krishna’s main plan is through this process we ourselves get purified by cultivating patience and tolerance and we realize how we ourselves have been making the Lord patient and tolerant by not fully absorbing ourselves with the Lod.

As our swamy says in the recent en pani விடைக்குப் பின் நடையா? நடைக்குப் பின் விடையா? , it takes for reactions to manifest.

Some of the ‘bad’ actions in the decades past has resulted in the current state of affairs. But if we do the right actions now (our faithful adherence to acharyas teachings, exemplary self discipline, and being kind with everyone) it will definitely have the corresponding reaction in the decades to come. We may or may not be around to see; but we must do the right thing now because it is pleasing to Perumal.
