Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Asmadh Sarva Gurubhyo Namaha,

Dear Bhakta,

Satrumurai is the Concluding part of the ThiruAaradhanai to Perumal-Thayar.

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami has said about Simple steps doing ThirAradhanai or Poojai to Perumal-Thayar. This to be done by Male members of family right after taking bath and applying Holy Thilaks Thriuman Kaapu/SricHooranam in 12 places. Female members can de Sandhanam araitthal, Pushpam Samarpitthal, Thaligai Seithal (Prepare food for Perumal-Thayar) etc…

If Bhakta had Acharya Samasrayanam, then Acharya will teach Bhakta about ThriAaradhanai steps, as it is one of the 5 steps in Pancha Samskaram.

<Thapaha, Pundraha, Naamaha, Mantaraha, Yagjna (yaga)>,

The last one Yaga is the ThiruAaradhanai which includes as below. Before starting ThiruAaradhanai, we should say “Acharyan ThiruvAdi Bhalatthaal”, so that Perumal accepts our humble Poojai.

Swami says, Upacharam (Parivu/affection) to Perumal is Aaradhanai.

  1. Argyam (To wash Perumal Hands ‘ThiruKarangal’)
  2. Padhyam (TO wash PErumal Legs ‘ThiruvAdi’)
  3. Aachamaneyam (To wash/gargle Perumal Mouth ‘ThiruVaai).
  4. [Keep a “Thiru OtthuAadai (a small clean cloth. One end to wipe Perumal Mouth after Achamaneeyam and another end to wipe Perumal ThiruvAdi after PAdhyam].
  5. Snaanam (To bath Perumal) and Dhoopam.
  6. Alankaram (Archanai/Decorate Perumal & Thayar with Thulasi/Pushpam/Clothes)
  7. Bhojyasanam (Keep all cooked food infront of Perumal and say Devareer Perumal “Ponakam Seyya Vaendum” means request Perumal to consume (Kondu Arul Panna VAendum and not Kandu Arul Panna Vaendum). Says paasrumans like “Naaru Narum Pozhil…….(NAchiyar ThirumOzhi)
  8. Aachamaneyam/Padhyam again after Perumal Bhojyasanam., then give Paaneyam (Neer/Water for Perumal to Drink), then Achamaneeyam (gargle Perumals’ mouth again) and tehn ThiruOtthuAadai (wipe Perumal’s mouth)
  9. Satrumurai (Concluding part of ThiruAaradhanai). Saying Managalasanam to Perumal-Thayar After Karpoora Haarathi, Sing Chitram Chiru Kaalai Vandhu Unnai Sevitthu….then Vanga Kadal Kadaintha Madhavanai…..(Andal ‘Thirupaavai’ last two paasurams), and Pallandu Pallandu….(PeriyaAlwar ‘ThriuPallandu’ paasuram).
  10. [There is detailed Thenkalai & Vadakalai Saatrumurai depending up on which lineage is Bhakta’s Upakaaraka Acharyan. But, Shisyas of both Lineages gets Moksham in same birth due to the Common Uddharaka Acharyan Swami Ramanujar]
  11. Paryankasanam or Sayanam (Sing Thaalattu for Perumal and make HIM sleep by singing “Uragal Uragal Uragal, Un Shudaraazhiye Shangaey……….”. Basically, saying Shangu, Chakkaram all Perumal’s Ayudhams to take of HIM while HE is sleeping, till adiyen come next day for ThiruAaradhanai.
  12. There are also some rules while doing Aaradhanai to avoid 32 Apacharams as said in Varaha Puranam. Please follow as much as possible. But Perumal-Thayar is Sulabhargal, if we do it whole heartedly by saying “Acharyan ThiruvAdi Bhalatthaal” before starting ThiruAardhanai.

Also, for Perumal’s Kainakaryartham/Preethiyartham, Swami says to follow daily,

  • Nithya Anusandhanam like ThiruPallandu, ThiruPalliYezhuchi, ThiruPaavai etc..
  • Nithya Anushtanam (Sandhaya Vandhanam for males of 1st three varnas) etc…
  • Nithya Aaradhani is the above 10 steps.

After ThiruAaradhani, Swami says, we should have Anbhu to ALL JeevaRaasis, with a Thudippu to do ThruAaradhani to PErumal next day,….etc…..

Swami says, ThiruAaradhani takes hardly 20 minutes daily.

Swami says, Perumal has given this Body, so utilize the Manam (Mind), Mozhi (Speech), Mei (Actions) to Perumal first thing in morning and then involve in daily activities, since WE ALL (the JeevAthama’s) are Perumal’s Sotthu (Property).

Please check with Kinchit, if Bhakta could get Swami’s Upanyasam on ThiruAaradhanai.

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Thiruvadigalaey Sharanam,

Uyya Oraey Vazhi UdayavAr ThiruvAdi,

Sarve Janaha Sukhino BHavanthu,

Sarvam SriKrishna Kudumbham.

Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha,

Also “SaatruMurai” means “உறக்க சொல்லப்படுவது”. So one should say/chant the concluding part of ThiruAradanam loudly whether in Temples or Home without just murmuring, since it is a combination of all auspicious slokas of Alwars/Acharyas Vaazhi Thirunaamams, and these vibrations persist for long in Temples or Home. Its a Rakshai.

Adiyen (ElayaAlwar) Srinivasa (DhoddayacharyAr) Dasan.
