Ratnakara Sagara – an epic character

Arya, namaskaram.
This is a doubt regarding an epic character Sri Ratnakara Sagara. In Tretayuga, when Lord Sri Rama visited Rameswaram, one tapaswini by name ‘Trikuta’, (daughter of Ratnakara Sagara), approached him and sought his consent to marry her. She is Matha Sri Vaishnavi, the incarnation of tridevatas (Mahalakshmi, Maha saraswathi and Mahakali)
I am interested in knowing about Sri Ratnakara Sagara. Kindly advise his history.
Namaskaram,
Subrahmanyam.

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Dear BhagavAta,

Please also confirm the reference from which BhagavAta has come across this Trikuta’ and ‘Ratnakara Sagara’ story.

In Sanatana Dharmam, PoorvAcharyas follow only PRAMAANAM (Authentic Original Source Texts).

For Srimadh Ramayanam, the Pramaanam is SANSKRIT text “Valmiki Ramayanam” and Acharyas recommend to read only 1st 6 Kaandams and don’t recommend to read about the last Utthara Kaandam.  PoorvAcharyas also take references from “Kambha Ramayanam” as well for BhagavAt Anubhavam.

The reason is:

Recently, some lousy people have created a New Ramayanam. One example from what they say is, Kaikeyi is a very good lady and she saw SriRama’s Jaathakam (horoscope) which says SriRama has 14 years of vana vaasam. So Kaikeyi took the blame up on herself to fullfill SriRama’s Jaathaka Kanippu. There are numerous falsified stories floating around. Swami has said in the past and in recent enpani #1252 as well, that we should be careful with such stories.

Neither Poorvacharyas, nor devotees following GuruParamparai accept these kind of stories, which is different from the Praamaanam, since Valmiki Raamayanam clearly says, Kaikeyi wanted to do PattaAbhishekam to her son Bharata. So she used one of the past varams that she acquired from Dhasaratha to fulfill her desire.

The story that BhagavAtA is referring appears Apoorvam (strange) to adiyen, and adiyen have not yet heard even the names of these persons in upanyasams. That is the reason, adiyen is asking the reference from where BhagavAta has come across this story for adiyens and other BhagavAtas better clarity. It will be interesting to know Swami’s answer.

Arya, namaskaram.
Thank you for the reply.
The source for the above story is the one mentioned in the official website of Sri Matha Vaishno Devi Shrine board, which explains the Sthala purana and Matha’s history. The same story, I have read in two other Hindi books written on Matha Vaishno devi.

If any clue about the story discussed above, kindly advise.

Namaskaram,
Subrahmanyam.

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Honestly BhagavAta, aidyen have not yet heard in Swami’s Upanyasam about the Trikuta story.

There are also cases where Original Ithihaasa may not have some incidents but the Sthala Puranam may have those incidents, which could have been ADDED LATER due to some devotee’s personal interests very long ago either by Ruling Kings or someone in past yugas.

[One such Example is The Supreme ParamAthma SriRama Praying the Demi-God JeevAthma Shiva in Rameswaram is see in Sthala Puranam, but NOT mentioned in Valmiki Ramayanam, which Swami has answered to one of BhagaVAtas question in this forum in earlier threads.]

Swami has said in the past, that we should focus on stories that will gives us Mukthi (Moksham SriVaikuntam) in Same Birth by Catching hold of Sita-Rama Lotus Feet through Acharya Krupai and BhagavAta Abhimaanam, like in Vibhishana Sharanagathy. Vibhishana was an Asura but got Sita Piratti’s PurushaKaarathavm (Recommendation) in Lanka first, then Hanuman (Acharya) said good conducts about Vibhishana to SriRama which Hanuman Swami has observed during His visit to Lanka in Sundara Kaandam. Other Mokshadha Stories are Jatayu Moksham, delivered by SriRama and further Sabari Moksham given by her Acharyan and Sri Rama was only Saakshi Bhoothan (only witnessed) etc….

Such Mokshadha Stories are being told by our PoorvAcharyas based on Original Valmiki Ramayanam (PRAMAANAM).

Adiyen would recommend BhagavAta to listen to Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’s “Srimadh Ramayanam” Upanyasam for the necessary stories from the below Velukkudi Discourses website.

Adiyen also noticed, Swami’s same Upanyasam is available in the “Tamil Pravachan TV” Youtube channel as well (total 7 parts in the below playlist).
