During those times for women, basically Men are supposed to cook and offer to BhagavAn and provide Perumal prasadham to their wife. If Men is on travel and Wife is at home during those times, then the female to cook and offer to a Perumal Photo either in kitchen, since she still needs to eat some food (make some simple food like Uppuma or Pongal etc…), But entering the Perumal Ull (Prayer room) should be avoided. At the same time, the ThiruAardhanai cannot be skipped during those times, so the male member to carry their own Aaradhanai Perumal photo (like Shaligramam photo) during travel and do some Aaradhai to their own Aaradhanai Peurmal Photo in which ever place they are staying (like hotel or someones home etc..) ,or ATLEAST do MAANASIKA Aardhanai. It shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes. The male to make sure they are in tradition, either Panchakajam for married Brahmins or just Veshti, whichever is their own tradition of any varnas.
The intention here is, Perumal Aardhanai to be done with Yatha Shakthi (one’s own Capacity) with Acharya Krupai by the male, and the women in those times still needs to take rest, since their Uterus cannot take stress, so BhagavAn has made it simple by making the Husband do the cooking on behalf of her. This is also a BhagavAta Kainkaryam, which is a ultimate “SwaDharmam“.
In Valmiki Ramayanam, SriRama did the house work when Sita Piratti was not able to cook during those times.
