Observing fast

Humble pranaams to all Swamis.

Adiyen’s paternal grandmother passed away recently.

Can somebody throw light if we are allowed to observe fasting during Ekadasis or Sri Jayanti?

There are varied opinions; hence this confusion.

Some say, all fastings are allowed beyond the 12 days ritual, while a few others say we should abstain from fasting etc., at least for one mandalam.

I am aware no celebrations are allowed until ‘varshAbdikam’, but does it extend to fastings too?

Request help.

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha!

Swami honestly speaking I am not sure of an authentic scriptural answer.

But based on logic if we analyze, fasting on ekadasi is to have detachment from body and to give it some rest and to use more time and absorption in Sat vishayam – Keerthanam, smaranam, archanam etc of the Lord. So I dont see any reason why it should be stopped.

But since it is logical answer it may have human errors. lets wait for a more authentic answer.
