Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Asmadh Sarva Gurubyo Namaha,

Dear BhagavAta,

Swami in Upanyasam “Bhaktas Kadamai” says about Gyana and Prema (Sneha Bhakthi) and Perumal’s Karunai Ullam.

Shastram Avarai yevalavukku Periyavar, Shakthi udayavar yendru solgiradho, adhaey shastram Avarai Elimai aanavar, Karunaye uruvaanavar, Dhayaye vadivaanavar yendrum koorugiradhu.

Swami beautifully says, Gyana Bhakthi and Sneha Bhakthi towards Perumal cannot be separated. Both has to go along together. One without the other is not a complete Bhakthi towards Perumal.

Swami says, if one doesn’t have both Gyana Bhakthi along with Sneha Bhakthi towards Perumal, then that leads to Goshti poosal/sandai as seen in temples or within Bhaktas anywhere else, because they are serving Perumal with Gyanam (Dry knowledge) and no Sneham towards Perumal. Sneham is possible, only if we think Perumal Thirumeni Azhaghu and also think that we All Bhaktas are Body (Thirumeni) of Perumal.

Swami says this with beautiful vaakyams from Upanishad as:

1) “Bhakthishcha Gyana Visheshaha”

Gyanatthin Mudhirndha Nilai, Pazhuttha Nilai dhaan Sneha Bhakthi.

Kaai (non ripened fruit) is first born, then it becomes a Riped fruit. Without Kaai, a ripened fruit is not possible. So, first step is Gyanam and then only Snehem is possible. Perumaludaya kalyana guna Gyanam illaamal, Avar mel Sneham Varaadhu. Adhaey pol Gyanam mattum irukku, aanal Sneham illai yendral, then the fruit cannot be eaten (Bhagavaanai Anubhavikka mudiyaadhu), as it is still non ripened fruit. So, Gyanam Mudhirndha Bhakthi is Sneha Bhakthi.

2) “Sneha Poorva AnuDhyanam Bhakthiridh Abhideeyathe”

ஸ்நேஹ பூர்வ அனுதியானம் பக்திரித அபிதீயதே “

Swami uses a Flower Garland Example:

Oru Pookaarar (Garland maker) makes Garland in the morning infront of temples. The garland is fresh when made, but as the day progresses, the Garland starts to wrinkle. So, to keep it fresh every moment, the Pookaarar keeps sprinkling Water on the Garland every few minutes, so it remains Fresh all day till night, and makes it appear as if it was just now made, though it was made in the early morning of the day.

* Garland is having the “Gyanam” about PErumal’s Kalaya Guna’s.

* Water sprinkling is showering the “Shenam (Love/Anbhu)” towards Perumal Thirumeni. Avar Azhagai Rasipadhu as well as Respecting all Bhaktas are residing in Perumal’s body and we are one among them.

* When no water is sprinkled on Garland, then the Garland becomes DRY. This is called VArattu Gyanam (Dry Spiritual Knowledge) about PErumal, which leads to Goshti poosal within Bhaktas, since we don’t have Snehem towards Perumal Thirumeni Azhaghu and no respect that all Bhaktas are also residing in Perumal’s Thirumeni. This is like, yenakku ungalai pidikkum (Atma gunatthai pidikkum), aanal ungal mugham pidikaadhu (appearance). How is this possible?. Perumal (ParamAthama) is covered with Bhakta Jana JeevAThmas who make up HIS body. So, when one likes Perumal (ParamAthma), we have to respect HIS Thirumeni (Shareeram, Bhakta Jana JeevAthmas) as well.

************************************

So, conclusion from Swami’s Pravachanams, Gyana Bhakthi and Sneha Bhakthi (Prema Bhakthi) cannot be separated.

“Gyanam Kalandha Sneha Bhakthiye Sirandhadhu. Gyanam along with Sneham together is the Ultimate Bhakthi which will stay for longer period.

**********************************

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruvae Namaha,

Super BhagavAta for the thoughts.

Nammudaya paarvayai porutthadhu ‘Perumal friendA illai Krishnar friendA yenbhadhu’, but both forms are friendly to pure devotees of any varnas/kulam.

Perumal in sampradayam is SriRama and very very Achaara Sheelan ‘Strict’. SriRama followed strict MADI rules even with His wife (our Thayar) Sita Devi. Romba overa thaan Perumal avar avataratthula nadandhukittar yendru Bhaktargal solli kelvi pattu irukkaen. Sri Velukkudi Swami adiyenai shamikkavum. But SriRama has enormous love for Sita Devi, with which SriRama is identified as SRIYA-PATHI (namm Thayarukku Husband). At the same time Swami has also said that, once SriRama identifies a pure Bhakta, HE is like a friend and brother to them. Like Guhan (a non-brahmin), a hunter who eat other things, with no achaaram, but pure devotee of Sita-Rama. So SriRama did Guhanudan Thozhamai and called him as His 5th brother and put HIS hands on Guhans shoulders (though SriRama is Madi paarppavar), which brings tears in adiyens eyes. So, SriRama (Perumal) is friend to Guhan and ate in same banana leaf with Hauman Ji, both sitting in opposite side of leaf, though strict on Achaaram. Same way SriKrishna is friend to all Gopas/Gopikas and HE minkles and ate in same plate with them as they are pure devotees who has love and affection towards SriKrishna.

All BhagavAn Sriman Narayanan sees is, are we a pure devotee with love/anbu/paasam towards HIM.

In same manner, adiyen has seen some real-time incidents of Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami.

Swami behaves like Perumal Achaaran sheelan (madi) ‘strict’ with pure Bhaktas of all varnas during auspicious times like Aradhanai or while in Gyana peedam to deliver upanyasams etc.. Other times, adiyen has seen Swami talks some decent funs and behaves like playful SriKrishna like Swami keeps his hands on shoulders of same male pure Bhaktas of any varnas. This is Soulabhyam and Sowsheelyam. This is like ParaVasudevanai purinjukidave mudiyadhu, but everything is Anubhavam for Bhaktas.
