Hare Krishna! Aneha Koti Namaskaram!

Dear Swamis/Matajis – Please clarify why devotees are asked to remove shirts in temples ? And apparently this is more diligently followed in Kerala than other states ?

To remove Ahankaram.
We see all Brahmins without shirts but with dhothi chanting hymns.

Perumal does not like us to cover ourselves and say am protected.

Example Draupathi. She did same when disrobed.

“Shanku Chakra gadhaa pAnEy dwArakA nilaiAchuda gOvinda pundareekAksha rakshamAm sharanAgatham”

This is what adiyen know

there is also a scientific reason behind this.when we enter temples the are positive vibes which are flowing near the gharbagruha..and human hair easily absorbs them, hence men (generally have hair on their chest)are asked to remove their shirts

Srimathe Ramanujaya nama:
Srimad Varavara munaye nama:
Swamin,

Seshan is not supposed to wear uttariyam in front of Seshi. that’s the simple sastric reason for not wearing uttariyam in front of Bhagavan. This is applicable for people belongs to any Varna. This is strictly followed in Kerala. And few temples in Tamil nadu also follows this as rule. Example at kallidaikurichi Sri.Aadhivaraha Templea (adiyen’s native place).

Adiyen not sure if ‘hair ‘would be the right scientific reason. Head has more hair than body. Positive vibes can be attracted by hair on the head easily. And as per Sastra, grahasthas must do sarvangam. grahasthas won’t have hair on their body then.
There must be some other convincing (scientific) reason as well for removing uttariyam at temple.
