Naming of a child

SRI RAMANUJAYE NAMAH
Namaskaram Swami,

To name a child, I came across one article saying that as per nakshatra and padam we have to name the child with respective sounds. Is it necessary to name only like this or can we select any name from Vishnu/lakshmi sahasranamam? Which is better for having a good spiritual life for the child

My understanding is, this numerology etc is for those who still have dependence on indirect source of strength.

But those who are directly dependent on the Divya-Dampathi, the broomalogy methodologies need not be a consideration.

If we name based on Perumal-Thayar’s name, every time we call out the name our faith on Them is going to get deeper.

If we name based on broomalogy, everytime we call out the name our faith in broomalogy is going to increase… even if these names are still Perumal-Thayar names!

The best possible way…. if possible …. is to seek your acharyan’s blessings and let him choose a name for the child.

If that is not possible, pray to Perumal-Thayar….. carefully listen to one of the EnPani audio… and whatever Perumal-Thayar name our Swamy utters.keep that name! 🙂 🙂

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha,

Namskaaram Kamabandasan swamy, i agree that our faith should be on Perumaal and not on numerology. Very true.

But how do we reconcile suggestions from vedas / indian astrology like this..https://trsiyengar.com/namanakshatra-rasi-name-chart/

Dhanyosmi

My understanding is, as saranagathas we try to minimise our dependence on these branches of vedic knowledge…. if possible keep our dependence at zero.

Even when our Swamy speaks about taking medicine for health, he says, “if one can remain “vaidhyo Narayano Harih” that is best. But when we are not at that stage, we can take medicines to keep good health so that we can practise our devotional life properly and make progress in our saranagathi.

Thank you for your question.

If the name is not kept – Keep those names of Sriman Narayana or Srimati Mahalakshmi from their sahasranamam which starts from the letter’s of respective Star and padam, that will be great

If the name is already kept – Which are of Sriman Narayana or Srimati Mahalakshmi of which don’t match to respective Star and padam, it’s absolutely ok, don’t worry

Ultimately it’s Karma and it’s intentions + Saranagti that matters

Thank you to all Swami’s for your suggestions 😊 Name is not yet kept, I’m just selecting a name from Lakshmi Sahasranamam. Leaving the rest to perumaal.
