Kongil Piratti Swami,

Dhanyosmi for all your effort in sharing the nice meanings from Periyalwar Thiruvaimozhi. However, adiyen’s question still remains. Is there any reference in scriptures about what austerities did Mother Yashoda do to be Mother of Lord Sri Krishna and enjoy all his chetitams, which no one can ever think of getting an opportunity including Mother Devaki (as mentioned by Kulasekara Alwar in ஏழாந் திருமொழி) ?

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Dear Bhagavata,

Adiyen so far haven’t heard about the austerities that Mother Yashoda did in the past to become Mother of BhagavAn Sri Krishna. Adiyen will share once adiyen knows about it.

Adiyen Sri Velukkudi Krishna Dasan,
Uyya Oraey Vazhi UdayavAr ThiruvAdi,

adiyen came across this article recently.

A brief on Who is YasOdhaa and her husband NandhagOpa found in Srimad Bhagavatham.

10th skandham – chapter 8 – Slokam 46 –

Sree Raajaa uvaacha –
nandha: kim akarOdh brahman srEya Evam mahOdhayam |
yasOdhaa cha mahaa-bhaagaa papou yasyaa: sthanam hari: ||

meaning: [Having heard of the great fortune of mother YasOdhaa, Pareekshith inquired from Sukha maharishi:] Oh, learned braahmaNa, mother YasOdhaa’s breast milk was sucked by KrishNa. What past auspicious activities did she and King Nandha perform to achieve such perfection in ecstatic love?

Slokam 48 –

Sree sukha uvaacha –
dhroNO vasoonaam pravarO dharaaya bhaaryaayaa saha |
karishyamaana aadhEsaan braahmaNaas tham uvaacha ha ||

meaning: Sukha brahmam said: To follow the orders of Lord Brahmaa, DhrONa, the best of the Vasus, along with his wife Dharaa, spoke to Lord Brahmaa in this way.
Point: He is one among the ashTa vasus – like Bheeshmaa being one among the 8 vasus.

Slokam 49
jaathayOr nou mahaadhEvE bhuvi visvEsvarE harou |
bhakthi: syaath parama lOkE yayanjO dhurgathim tharEth ||
meaning: DhrONa and Dharaa said: Please permit us to be born on the planet earth so that after our appearance, the Supreme Lord, the supreme controller and master of all planets, will also appear and spread devotional service, the ultimate goal of life, so that those born in this material world may very easily be delivered from the miserable condition of materialistic life by accepting this devotional service.

Slokam 50
asthu ithi uktha: sa bhagavaan vrajE dhrONO mahaa yasa: |
jajnE nandha ithi khyhathO yasOdhaa sa dharaa abhavath ||
meaning: When Brahmaa said, “Yes, let it be so,” the most fortune showered DhrONa, who was equal to Bhagavaan, appeared in Brindhaavanam, the Vrajapuram, as the most famous King Nandha, and his wife Dharaa, appeared as mother YasOdhaa.

slOkam 51
thathO bhakthir bhagavathi puthri bhoothE janaardhanE |
dhampathyOr nitharam aaseedh gOpa-gOpeeshu bhaaratha ||
meaning: Thereafter, Oh Pareekshith, best of the Bhaarathaas, when KrishNa became the son of Nandha and YasOdhaa, they maintained continuous, unswerving devotional love in parental affection. And in their association, all the other inhabitants of Brindhaavanam, the gOpaas and gOpees, developed the KrishNa-bhakthi.

adiyen,
Badrinarayana Ramanuja Dasan.
