Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Adiyen saw in TED talk by Mr. Dhandapani. Who was learner under a monastery. He was taught “mind does not wander but awareness within mind wanders”.

Imagine awareness as light bulb and allow it to glow certain chambers like anger, love etc. Human start to display those emotions.

So awareness within mind is wandering not the mind itself.

Our ShAstram says “Mind is ? monkey” and it keeps jumping around.

Need clarification, adiyen

Hare Krishna! Aneha koti namaskaram!

Its just play of words.

Mind goes behind the senses for (lower) pleasure and the influence of the senses is more when ‘awareness’ is low (more ignorance) – the thought that ‘body’ is self (and not Aatma).

So awareness (or quality of consciousness) is directly proportional to the influence of prakruti on Jiva.

BG 2.67. For, when the mind follows the senses — experiencing their objects, the understanding is carried away by them as the wind carries away a ship on the waters.

Commentary

The mind, which is allowed to be accommodating, loses its inclination towards the realization of the pure Åtman — it succumbs to the temptation of the sense-objects. Just as a contrary
wind forcibly carries away a ship at sea — in the same manner enlightenment also is carried away from such a mind.

Sarvam Sri Krishnaarpanam!
