Sundara Ramanuja swamy,

I don’t the answer to this question. But I have been using my fingers to count my japa – the same fingers I use for countless other purposes. So, I assume it is okay to use the neck tulasi-mala for counting japa, or to wear the japa-counting mala around one’s neck. As long as it is clean, it helps one keep focus on the japa and at the same time keep track on number of japa, it must be okay.

If I am wrong, someone please correct.

Thank you kambandasan swamy,
Another one question my neighbor wants to clear is, can all people wear lotus bead maala or only grihastas and sanyaasis should wear lotus bead maala?

Any devotee of Srimati Mahalakshmi can wear it

Many wear it and Don’t worry about which ashram but some do, if you stand in 1st wear it, in 2nd decide yourself

No, unless you have no option but to use it

Generally there are 2 different mala kept but there aren’t popular rules that you can’t use the one you wear

If you want to, go for it

What matters is Japa or intentions and not rituals
