Sri:

From EnPaNi 2012, Devareer said Mahaan’s life is determined by Perumal.

Who is Mahaan? How to identify?

It is contradicting “sama dharshana:” principle of Perumal

Perumalukku ellarum onnu dhaney

Mahaan kku only yaen special preference?

We all are souls. Who is a Mahaan?

Ramasya Athma Sama Sakha

Soulmate nu Valmiki solli irukkarey

Enakku yaarum Mahaana theriyalaiye Swamy

Edhai vechu oruvar mahaan endru mudivu aagiradhu?

Bhakthi kku edhu alavukol?

Avar avar vidhi vazhi nadappavarukku eppadi mahaan difference?

Ellarum Ava alavukku bhakthi pandra

Sometimes naval pazha kaari madhiri kuda moksham kekkalam

Enakku andha paaati Mahaana theriyara

Yaru kitta eppo enna kekkanum nu therinjirukku

En friend kuda ketaan. Nee enna Meerabai ya?
Correct why should I be Meera Bai?
I am what I am

MeeraBai is not Thukkaram

Ava Ava style la bhakthi pandra
Na en style la pandren

Bhakthi la enna comparison?

Ellarum mahaan nu solli irundha innum bettera irundhitukkumey Swamy

Some rishis were robbers in past then became rishis

So while robbing he was mahaan or not?

Ava elllarum Karma vasathinaal dhaney appadi irundhaa

Please explain Swamy
Adiyen could not understand the intricacy

Bhagavad Gita 9.13

Please hear/ study 9.13, and see 7.28 also in conjunction with 9.13.

In 7.16 to 10, He explains the 4 different kinds of devotees who come to Him for specific purpose. All of them are great; but among them one kind is the best.

In 12 chapter He explains what are the different grades of devotees who please Him and what qualities in His devotees pleases Him more and more.

The example often given is, all children are equal to the mother. She provides the needs of each child as per their desire. To the child who wants nothing but her and depends totally on her, she gives herself completely.

Initially we all are robbers (who are trying to claim His properties as ours). Then we begin to go to Him with some desires and He promptly fulfils our desires, sometimes even if the desire it not good for us. When we realise our mistakes and gradually by acharyan anugraham develop deeper love for Him and want nothing but Him, we make progress to the mahatma stage.

Kamban Dasan Swami,

Sorry to jump into this discussion!

Bhagawan naam kettadhai koduppavara alladhu namakku edhu ugandhadho adhai koduppavara ?

Both Swamy
First kettafha koduthu attract pannuvar (lollipop)

Then will do only Hitham (what’s necessary to us)

Dasanudasan

To a obedient child, the parents give only what is good for the child. To a child who throws tantrums, the parents give whatever he asks for, with the hope he will realise his mistake sooner or later.

In Perumal’s case, if we are obedient He gives only things that are good for us to get back to Vaikuntham soon. If we keep throwing tantrums and keep asking for things that are not good for us, He grants our wish but also makes arrangements in our life for us to realise the futility of our desire. This experience teaches to be obedient in future instances also. Thus, granting our tantrum-desires makes it easy for us to get back to Vaikuntham (because now we will not throw tantrums… as long as we remember the lesson learnt).

That is why acharyas always advise us “do not pray for anything to Perumal (except for kainkaryam and deeper devotion). He knows what to give when to give how to give”. If we become desperate and pray for something, and He does relent and grant our wish, we may have to face the consequence of that desire before we learn our lesson.

But nevertheless, if we are really keen to get something, it is better to ask our Perumal than any devantharam. Because, in case of Perumal the subsequent situations help us get back to Vikuntham. In case of devantharams, it could get us more bound to this world!

If we keep throwing tantrums and keep asking for things that are not good for us, He grants our wish but also makes arrangements in our life for us to realise the futility of our desire. From கம்பன்தாசன்

But both the swamis,

In practice, we all see situations where several wishes of ours remain unfulfilled despite repeated prayers, even until we leave this material world.

What does this signify?

Adiyen always used to think that bhagawan will give only what is due to us, even if we scream and cry!

Alladhu bhaktiyil kuraipaadaa? Eppadi purindhu kolvathu?

– Adiyen

Swamy, in adiyen’s experience, there are instances where my desire-prayers have been fulfilled, but a few years I realise the mistake of asking that; also, there are instances where my desire-prayers have not been fulfilled and in a few years I realised what a BIG blessing it is to have not received what I had desired.

So, I am not able to fully see your perspective. kshamikkavum.

Srimate Raamanujaya namaha,

Swamy bumped into this video today incidentally..( been trying to hear 1 vidura neethi everyday)

4th to 6th minute one definition of mahaan is discussed.

Srivats swamy, appreciate your honest and deep query..

My thoughts on the apparent contradiction you had indicated..

1. Suppose we pray i want to do or have say “something” and be able to do my anshutaanam and kainkaryam well and be happy..
But in effect in reality that something will go against our second wish..so perhaps Lord chooses to fulfill the second part?..that is we may have mixed contradictory desires and Lord mercifully fulfills our good desires..

2. In other cases if the screaming is for very dangerous thing like child wanting to touch fire..it is not allowed…

3. In other cases if we want material enjoyment beyond our karma credit..like some one who is not destined to become a billionaire cannot become..so there are two parts..desire and deservance.
( even though one deserves..unless God sanctions one cannot access)

There might be many other reasons..which others can add in..but everything happens for a good reason.

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

What is “deservancs” mean Swamy? Sri Mahalakshmi makes me deserve. I will become billionaire. I will help multiple people by doing Dharma karyams.

To adiyen no material desire us wrong.. TVS madhiri ashram kattuven. Computer lab kattuven. Annadhanam poduven.

Swamy when i meant deservance it means our efforts or karma in past present life..
Yes even without sufficient material effort if one gets kataksham or grace of thaayaar it can happen..but still to get the grace we need to do.atleast the basic principles as expected from our varna and ashrama.
