Fear of Giving Advice?

Namaskaaram to all Bhakthas!

This post is based on adiyen’s general observation.

So, basically I am noticing that the elders these days are very much scared of giving advice to the young people. If a young person undertakes a wrong path, it is the duty of the elders to give advice so that the youngster can con correct himself/herself. But, this is not seen nowadays, especially in the cities.

Adiyen can understand the situation. If suppose an elderly person gives an advice the youngsters tend to be harsh, or accuse the elder of being “backward” in his/her thought process.

Even more sad thing is, some elders have also adopted some of the sinful activities of some youngsters. If asked why, they are saying that they are trying to “cope up” with the youngsters.

But however this is not the case of all elders, but this is a newly emerging situation for a lot of elders these days…

Interested people can share their thoughts on this subject matter.

Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha,

Namaskaram Shravanan Swami,

No worries. Adiyen’s eye always catches upon areas that is not attempted by others. So don’t worry about retracting the question.

Here are some insights with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Ammangaar Abhimaanam and Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham.

When one resist authority,

  1. authority wins, if truth and safety is with them or
  2. rebel wins, if truth and safety is with them.

Every rebel roursers know that resisting authority is not worth it  Rules/Laws are in place for a reason. One may not realize this, but when one violates moral rules and safety rules, one is in violation of the Established/Approved law. It’s true. Now that doesn’t mean one will be taken away in handcuffs, but can result in fines levied on them who failed to enforce or follow moral and safety rules. This is to bring in the inner fear in them so that they doesn’t repeat it again.

These are the reasons why a “PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE” is followed within a family or an organisation for violators of the rules.

So when a moral and lawful person, irrespective of their age (old or young), who is Head of a family or an organization asks one to follow dharmic rules, they are not trying to be difficult, but to cultivate moral behaviour in us for us benefit for a harmony family and society. The Head is just being accountable by Law (Shastras) to ensure our safety. If “Progressive Discipline” doesn’t work out well, then “ENFORCEMENT” is the only way to do this right. So it is incumbent on every family member or a members of an organization to take personal behaviour and safety seriously and comply with all the moral standards and ethical rules.

It’s that simple…….and it’s the law (Shastras) and It will do its job in correcting one (older person or younger person), no matter how one deviates from it, and that “Law (Shastras)” is nothing but the ONE and ONLY ONE ALMIGHTY GOD mind thoughts.

Here the “Authority” is Almighty GOD and HE ALWAYS wins (above case 1 only applicable) and rebel fails, since it is not worth deviating from “Authority” norms since it’s all good for our own benefit only.

So one have to keep giving advice in the applicable area/environment to shastric deviators (old or young person) with Almighty GOD grace. No need to fear of giving advice.

Adiyen (ElayaAlwar) Srinivasa (DhoddayAcharyar) Dasan.

Namaskaaram ElayaAlwar Swami,

Thank you for sharing this authorized answer. Even I am determined to follow the same in the future. The basic principle is that we shouldn’t compromise with the other people by not following the shastra. No. We have to follow the order of God at all times. And that order comes only through the disciplic succession (parampara) by the bonafide acharyas. But unfortunately many people are karmis interested only in their sense gratification rather than to follow the principles laid down by the acharyas. Therefore, it is very much important for us to follow the rules and regulations strictly ourselves.

But here’s another important point. We must also do devotional service to Lord Sri Krishna side by side. Otherwise, we will not be able to strictly follow the rules and regulations and we will again fall down and become karmis again. This is the problem we find mostly in the current times.

So answer to all questions is just to become Krishna Conscious (or you can use the term Perumal Conscious if you prefer) in whatever position we are in, and gradually people will see how blissful we are and take to the process of saddhana-bhakti.

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha
Srimathe Sri Varaha Mahadesikaya Namaha
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy Thiruvadigaley Sharanam

When in doubt ask “self-consciousness”. I know it’s a mistake why do it again?

Our sanAthana Dharma is about “Self-Introspection”. Question thyself.

Coming to others we have heard Lord Muruga advising his father Shiva.
Prahlada the just born lad advising his father

Kapila advising his mother

Hari Bhakthi has no age restriction

When small.children does upanyasam on udayavar, 90+yrs. elders listen. Please check youtube. This is the only religion that gives that much freedom to youngsters.

Perumal will take care of correcting others. Let’s say what is dharma whoever it is without any “self-interpretation” allow others to decide.

For example: According to shastra drinking is sinful. That’s it. Let them decide.

Namo Narayana

You are right, most elders are actually not guiding youngsters in spirituality! Not sure other advices.

In my case, none of my departed paternal or maternal grandparents gave me spiritual advice although they were doing daily Pujas etc Neither any of my immediate relatives who are older taught me anything spiritual.

I guess society is brainwashed that elders who gives good values to youngsters are – BACKWARDS. And as per them, if elders imitates youngsters – APPLAUDED.

I recently saw Colgate Advertisement in TV where “INDIAN” widow grandmother goes dating and finds new match and she is CLAPPED WITH TEARS IN EYES. I don’t know how Colgate Palolive can do such advertisements in India.

Such is Kali Yuga! Nonsensical

Jai Sreerama

Namaskaaram Swami!

Glad you noticed this. Yes, whatever you have stated is true. In fact there are a lot of advertisements like this. They mislead the general public.
