Ekadashi – kids – Aahaara Niyamam

Dhanyosmi for answering adiyen’s previous query ?

Swami has mentioned a lot about Ekadashi. Still adiyen has a few more questions. Kshamikkavum for bothering with such questions.

1) Kids have not yet started to do Ekadashi vrat. So adiyen prepares regular food (saatham, paruppu, vegetables etc.) that day like any other day for neivedyam and kids eat that. Is this practice ok till the time they start to fast? Or should we avoid preparing rice at least for neivedyam?

2) adiyen doesn’t have full understanding of Swami Desikan’s Aahaara Niyamam – so kshamikkavum if anything is wrong – adiyen came across that foods ‘cooked’ on Ekadashi has to be avoided. If so, is it ok to feed such food (the ones that are cooked on Ekadashi) for kids in the family (who are not yet fasting) ?

3) Though swami has already mentioned that food needs to be offered to Perumal even on Ekadashi as He doesn’t have to fast, practically a bit confused about what to do with the prasadam – don’t know whom to share with if everyone in the family is fasting (once kids also start to fast)? Also, being in the US, can’t really find someone in need too to give the prasadam. Is it ok to just offer milk, fruits and dry fruits as naivedyam on that day ?

Koti pranamam for swami’s services ?

Adiyen ?

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Dear All BhagavAtas,

In Short,

For Kids, please continue giving BhagavAn Prasadham everyday as they are close to BhagavAn and their appetite is faster digestion. They need more energy. Full Fasting is for Able Adults. We all Bhaktas in Swami’s forum fall under the TYPE C Flexible category, so don’t Pressurize yourself…??

Adiyens Perumal inside Adiyens Stomach Residing as Jaatara Agni makes Adiyen release Satvika Burp in all days due to Prasadham consumption… ?

In Detail,

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami in EnpaNi #33 “Ability in Austerity” says about the Ekadesi fasting.

1) Doing full fasting (Nirjala) is the ‘Standard method’ as per scriptures. So who has the ‘Ability’ to do full fasting, should comply.

2) If one doesn’t have the ability to do full fasting (NirJala), then Scriptures no where says to SKIP it completely. Atleast follow the fasting as much as possbile without skipping it (Nammal Aanadhai Seyya Vaendum).

If someone feels like fainting during Ekadesi, while doing full fasting, then they can eat prasadham to the neccessary amount to sustain their condition depending up on situation, but still comply the fasting rest of the time during Ekadesi day.

This is not prescribed in Scriptures, but we can follow it based on our family Elders or ask Acharyan.

This is called as ‘Shistacharam”.

****************************************

Swami says step by step ‘Alternative methods’ in this Enpani #33, that can be followed when we couldn’t follow the ‘Standard methods’ prescribed in Shastras either for Ekadesi or Shraddham or Dharpanam.

But the ‘Alternative method’ (DEVIATION) should not become a ‘Standard method’ during Ekadesi or Shraddham or Dharpanam, as it is a temperory method which needs to be followed only during very Critical or Emergency time.

That situational temperory solution can also vary from person to person. So, there is no ‘bench-mark’ deviation method common for all.

*****************************************

Within a family, if wife can do full fasting with no issues, then she can continue full fasting. But, if the husband will faint during full fasting, then husband can eat prasadham to the neccessary amount to sustain their condition, keeping in mind that it is Ekadesi day. But wife cannot force her husband to do full fasting, since she is able to do. Same for vice-versa and other perons within family.

So adhering to the Shastras “as much as possible” without deviating is what is needed.

Thats why we need Acharyas/Sathvik Gurus like Swami to help us to understand what Shstaras says us to do.

Swami has said in one of the Upanyasam in Tamil as below.

[Adiyen will try to translate in English as much as possible. Sri Velukkudi Swami to forgive adiyen for translation or misinterpretation erros].

Swami has said that “If one is already so lean, how much he/she can do full fasting. Shastras doesn’t say strict on them. At the same time, though being lean, if they can survive through the Ekadesi day by full fasting, it is well and good. But a big person, who is just focussing only on eating in regular days, they should do Ekadesi full fasting “Nirjala”, since He/She can defenitley survive full fasting, but the same big person, if faint during full fasting due to health issues like diabetes etc, then he/she can eat prasadham depending up on the situation”.

*****************************************

Type A) Shastras is ‘Very Strict’ to those who have ‘Ability’ to do, but are ‘Adamant’ in following and give excuses.

[Irukkamaanava’nukku, Sattam ‘Kadumaiyaga’ Irukkum]

[For Tight-hearted persons, Shastram is very Strict]

Type B) Shastras is ‘Easy’ to those who have the ‘Ability’ to do and ‘Follow’ easily.

[Eyandrava’nukku, Sattam ‘Inimaiyaaga’ Irukkum]

[For Easy-hearted persons, Shastram is very Sweet]

Type C) Shastars is ‘Flexible’ to those who are ‘incapable’ to comply, but ‘TRY’ as much as possible with temperory deviation due to inability, and get back immediately on track to follow Shastras after recovery.

[Eyaladhava’nukku, Sattam ‘Sulabhamaaga’ Irukkum]

[For Light-hearted persons, Shastram is very Flexible]

*****************************************

[On Ekadesi day, don’t make more quantity of Prasadham like in normal days. If we know, we are going to waste it, then make minimal prasadham for sustainability, so prasadham is not wasted].

Overall, depending up on which status A), B), C) each one of us fit, we can decide our conduct based on Honesty. So, kindly don’t think ‘yet we don’t have rights to eat prasadham on Ekadesi day’.

Swami’s step by step ‘Alternative methods’ in this Enpani #33 “Ability in Austerity”, can be followed when we couldn’t follow the ‘Standard methods’ prescribed in Shastras either for Ekadesi or Shraddham or Dharpanam.

Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Sri Velukudi Krishnan Swami Guruve Namaha,

Asmadh Sarva Gurubhyo Namaha,

Dear BhagavAta,

Adiyen will share again due to curiosity of BhagavAtas to know and follow. One will be able to understand only if self experienced by Following it and will Enjoy BhagavAn’s Satvika Burp, Otherwise it remains only a theory, and getting diseases is no wonder.

Satvik Burp itself are two categories,

Category 1 Saatvik Burp AFTER EATING:

From Previous Thread

https://www.kinchit.org/dharma-sandeha/thread/நம்முள் அந்தர்யாமியாக எழுந்தருளியிருக்கும் பகவானை இப்படியும் உணரலாமா?

This occurs if one follows the STEP1 & STEP2 properly as in the below link, tehn the Step3 automatically happens. It will remain as THEORY ONLY, unless we do the STEP1 & STEP2 and experience it yourself. No one will get any diseases due to our Agami karma (further action) if these three steps are followed with BhagavAt Krupai, since this Body is BhagavAn’s design and we should not think this Body is low level. If we keep thinking, the Body nees to be Trashed and only Athma needs to be focused, then BhagavAN will make sure to full-fill our desire not to help on our Body and will help only the Athma. But if we ask BhagavAn to help both, then HE will happily help both, since We need good health till we (Athma’s) leave to SriVaikuntam) for Permanent with Acharya Krupai.

The Step1 & Step2 100% Digestion Process happens same time during the food eating for anyone who follows it properly.

After Full Stomach Digestion is complete (100%) for any exisitng food in stomach,THEN ONLY the Digested food from Stomach is sent to the Small Intestine (சிறு குடல் ) for remaining 20% DIgestion. which makes up a total of 100% Digestion process (20%+60%+20%) and all food is broken down into fine juice molecules and carried as GODD GLUCOSE to the Blood.

Hence, when the Digested Food from Stomach is transferred to Small Intestine, the Muscle is opened up which makes a Knocking noise by releasing the excess air, which is called as BURP/BELCH. This is the concept of ஏப்பம் (Belch/Burp) in Perumal’s Designed Body which is COMMON for all of us whether we belong to any Religion or Athiest or Non-devotee.

Type B Saatvik Burp WITHOUT EATING (during fasting):

This is also BhagavAn’s design. This is not our international burp. This is automatic burp set-up by BhagavAn, even though we are fasting to help us not to faint. When Amilam/Acid (Jaatara Agni) is generated inside body, we feel hungry with a growling Narasimhar sound. Inorder to test the Burp, just tolerate the hungerness for a while. In few minutes, what BhagavAn does is, HE SUPPLIES/ throws the previously stored bad-Glucose molecules/bad-fat/bad-cholesterol that was previously generated due to our BAD eating method into the Amilam/Acid. So in this case we are not doing Step1 & Step2 due to a fasting day (no eating), but the Step3 is still done by BhagavAn as said. Now, the bad-glucose, bad fat, bad cholestrol that was originally in the body and now put intot eh Acid again wil now be converted to Good-glucose, Good-fat & Good Cholestrol, and eventually tehse good particles when transferred to the small intenstine makes the release of Satvik Burp sound.

So, Every Ekadashi, BhagavAn is helping to RECYLE our contaminated particles in our body to help us to keep Good healthy condition for further activities/Kainakryams. That’s why we avoid eating in Ekadasi like NirJala and Think our Bhagavan atleast on this day (though we should think all day), so that we don’t add additional outside food in to our stomach to create more damage to body, while BhagavAn is busy working on REPAIRING our existing body due to our past bad eating methods, even though we eat Satvik food offered to BhagavAn in the past..

But still some faint due to past bad eating methods event-though they were eating proper Satvik foods, because the they don’t have enough supply of Stored glucose, fat, cholesterol in their body to sustain while BhagavAN is working on REPAIRING the damaged body once in 15 days.

So, what adiyen does is, adiyen follow all the methods described in the earlier thread as below

https://www.kinchit.org/dharma-sandeha/thread/health-tips-for-body-to-do-kainkaryam-till-we-reach-srivaikuntam-with-acharya-krupai/

especially the Food (Earth Element points) regularly thinking about BhagavAN while eating (it is hardly 20 minutes, don’t focus anything other than Food and BhagavAn), so we can give less work to BhagavAN during these Ekadasi days, otherwise BhagavAN will be engaged in repairing our body all day during Ekadasi day. Instead of We serving HIM, BhagavAn is serving us, This is pitiable and not good for our JeevAThma Swaroopam.

Here is the apt comparison of what we should learn when we go to temples.

Temple, Sanctum, GOD (Perumal as Diety).

Same way,

Our Body is Temple,

Our Heart is the Sanctum,

Thumb size Diety in our Heart (“AngushtaMaatra Purushaha” as Shastras say),

So in actual temples, all the abhishekam is done after making the saamagrigal as fine particles instead of coarse/rough particles, like Sandhanam pasted finely, Manjal pasted finely, Milk etc….then poured on Deity BhagavAn.

Same way, when we follow the Step1 (mashing food inside mouth with Salavia with Closed mouth for 32 times as per Atharva Veda) from the above link, we are actually making a fine paste of the food before pouring it to the Stomach when BhagavAN is resting as Jaatara Agni. This is Abhishekam done to Perumal inside our body.

Our present situation, we don’t know ‘how to eat’ and ‘when to eat’, but clearly follow ‘what to eat’, which can be made better if we follow all the simple doable steps for BhagavAN’s happiness and BhagavAn makes a Satvika Burp INSTANTLY while eating, and we look Trim and Healthy with no internal diseases. Adiyen Self is  case study practicing for last 10 yeras and adiyen is able to focus clearly on Sativika activities. It also helps to create less work for BhagavAn inside our body, as HE need not do Repair work for us. Instead of We serving HIM, BhagavAn is serving (repairing) us. This is pitiable and not good for our JeevAthma Swaroopam. So, we should follow “Mindful Eating” method.

Adiyen is sharing again due to curiosity of BhagavAtas to know and follow. One will be able to understand only if self experienced by Following the simple steps and will Enjoy BhagavAn’s Satvika Burp, Otherwise it remains only a theory, and getting diseases is no wonder.
