Dosai Maavu – Neivedyam

Srimathe Ramanujaya Namah, Sri Sriranga Narayana Jeeyar Swamigale Saranam, Sri Velukkudi Swamigal Thiruvadigale Saranam,

Namaskaram Swami, adiyen have a basic doubt reg. offering to Bhagavan. In adiyen kudil, we practice offering idli / dosai as breakfast neivedyam to Perumal only during the first use of the fermented batter. Since we consume the batter during that meal for the rest of the family, we don’t use that batter anymore to offer neivedyam to Perumal after the first use. But given that the batter is prepared in bulk almost for 3 – 4 days use and every time we make idli or dosai (using fire) can we continue to use that batter for making idli / dosai to offer to Perumal even after the first use since batter itself has not been cooked using fire. Adiyen would also like to apply the same question for other bulk preparation items like curd, ghee, etc.,

Please clarify our doubts reg. this subject.

Badrinarayana swamy, namaskaram.

In one En pani swamy has explicitly mentioned about curd. When curd is set, once a portion of it offered to Perumal, we can not reuse the rest of the portion to offer a little bit everyday. However, it is permissible to use a little bit of that offered curd as started for the next curd-setting. (if anyone identifies the correct enpani, please share here)

About ghee, I vaguely remember hearing ‘there is no dosham for ghee’. But I am not sure about this.

About batter, I haven’t heard about it explicitly. But I believe the same logic as curd applies here.

adiyen dasan.

En pani 134 and 368 are related to offering food to Perumal. Please hear.

But, mention about curd and ghee is not in either of these audios. Still searching.

If anyone knows, please share.

When something is offered to Perumal and considered as prasadam we can’t process it further adding or removing etc and we are supposed to consume it as it is.

Can someone confirm this?

Srimate Raamanujaye Namaha,

Swami one practical solution could be once batter is prepared, we can separate into few vessels like 2 or 3 and use only one and keep rest in fridge. So the first vessel alone can be considered as offered for day 1. ( there is no pramaanam for this as fridge(long storage of food) itself cannot be referred to by any sastras)

(Best is to prepare batter for 1 day only.. so as to avoid fridge and this complication. But there may be practical challenges for some)

Similarly for ghee, we can have a big container and just transfer a  small portion to a smaller intermediary vessel for the day and then perhaps that alone can be considered as prasadam.

Dhanyosmi Swamis for the replies. Adiyen is looking for a more practical yet the right answer. “Swami one practical solution could be once batter is prepared, we can separate into few vessels like 2 or 3 and use only one and keep rest in fridge.” – makes practical sense to adiyen. Like milk, ghee, honey, grains, adiyen is asking whether the same logic applies to dosai batter as well since it is uncooked till kept in fire. That’s the clarification adiyen is looking for.

Just to add, enpani 1924 about burning fireworks on Diwali is a very practical and thoughtful answer given by our Swami. This clearly shows how practical, a great acharya like our Swami is.

What a wonderful and practical answer Swami. Again and Again adiyen like to repeat that we’re truly blessed to be Devareer’s contemporaries. Dhanyosmi Swami for taking time in spite of your various kaimkariyams to answer this question in a very practical manner. This certainly increases the faith that certainly we will be able to follow our purvacharyas instructions even today in a very practical manner🙏

Srimate Ramanujaya Namaha

I’m not a expert or elder or qualified like others but I say what I observed and do.

I offer same Pickles from jar daily to Sri Krishna. He eats it. And then I honour it. I couldn’t prepare or bring a new Pickles daily. So I guess we can apply same logic in Idli
