Disturbing thoughts due to materialistic desire

Swamy,

Namaskaram.

Sometimes, a prapannan gets disturbing thoughts for some materialistic / natural desires, against his will. Are they due to vasanas or arise since prapannan has to experience them due to prarabdha karma?.

Should it be resisted and avoided?.

How to avoid getting such disturbing thoughts?.

Srimathe Ramanuja Namaha,

Three factors causes disturbing thoughts and actions.
1) Vaasanas – past actions imprints in our Athma.
2) Ruchi – the desire/interest to do or perform an action driven by the vaasanas.
3) Prakrithi Sambhandham – due to our Athma’s non detachable relation with our Prakritha Shareeram and the Prakritha panchabootham.

If one had very bad vaasanas in the past before prapatti, it will take a while to subside, as long as we don’t involve in those actions again. So vaasanas cannot be avoided, but Ruchi can be avoided. This can be achieved when we involve only in the “Aanukoolyasya Sankalpam” actions as laid out by BhagavAn Sriman Narayana through Acharya Ramanujacharya lineage.

However the 3rd one prakrithi sambhadham is a delicate one, which we cannot do anything about it until we leave this shareeram and travel through Archaradhi Maargam to Srivaokuntam due Ramanujacharya’s grace (Vishnu Loka manimandapa maarga dhayee Ramanujo vijayathey Yathiraja rajahah…).

Meantime if you unknowingly watch any disturbing news or a disturbing scene in real due to Prakrithi Sambhandham, it’s going to be in the mind temperory, but won’t stay long, since it’s not your Ruchi (desire). But if you knowingly watch any disturbing news or a disturbing scene in real due to Prakrithi Sambhandham, it’s going to be in the mind for a while before it subsides. It’s Ruchi driven again. So it’s a cycle. It’s like walking on a thin line. Those Ruchi again subsides by involving in “Aanukoolyasya Sankalpam” actions.

Adiyen (ElayaAlwar) Srinivasa (Dhoddayacharyar) Dasan.

Thank you for your efforts.
