Hare Krishna! Aneha Koti Namaskaram to the lotus feet of Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami!

 

Swami: Please clarify if there are any guidelines in sastra on ‘how much’ one should donate ? from his/her earnings.

 

Also Swami in a upanyasam says one should help less privileged relatives but sometimes that kind of help triggers unnecessary arguments (and manasthabam in the family) especially when parents/elders at home do not appreciate that kind of help (and/or when they are not in good terms/opinion about them). Request Swami to advise how can we handle such circumstances.

Uyarthiru Acharyar u ve velukudi krishnan swamigalin padhangaluku kodi namaskarangal ,arumaiyana kelvi bhaktha avargale,if adiyen remembers correctly in one of the upanyasam, uyarthiru acharyar swamigal thiruvaai malarndhu bhakthargaluku aruliya upanyasathil “one should try to give 1/6 of the money one makes in an year to help and donate people through dharmam” although i might be not accurate,adiyen sindhaiku ettiyadhai uraithen 🙂 narayana namam vaazhga

Sometimes it’s difficult to quote reference. Only what Velukkudi Swamy says will be in mind (at least to adiyen). Not when or where Swamy said.

One thing for sure Velukkudi Swamy will say based on reference or his poorvAchAryAs. So it will be authentic. Thus “pramAnam”.

Namaskaram Swamis. Reference is not to check authenticity but to hear it once since Adiyen has got many of Swami’s discourse CDs. Reference was sought for Swami’s discourse and NOT for the source of what was delivered in the discourse.

In addition to the link that Prapanna Bhagavata has provided, Here is another link from Swami’s Vijay TV telecast “Bharathathil Sharanam Apr 3 2912/Part2”, where Swami mentions about 1/6th of money to be spent for Dharma Kaaryams based on Manu Srlmrithi. Swami says SriKrishna BhagavAn gives more money back to us when we spent money on Dharma Kaaryams. ??.
