Decision making

Srimate Raamanujaye Namaha,

Swamy, in our life we are faced with challenges of making decisions frequently.
It is said one should base his decisions according to sastric directions.
If one does not know sastra relevant to the context concerned or if there are multiple perspectives or angles presented in sastra for the same topic one would need help from a sadhu/ Guru/ elders to understand the relevant portion applicable to one’s situation.

But if one gets different suggestions from different people ( elders, well wishers , Guru etc.) all suggesting that they are indicating Perumaal s desire..then how does one make a decision?

This question arose after I heard Bhagavatham audios 191 to 193 , where King Priyavratan was advised by Narada muni to pursue path of direct renunciation, whereas Lord Brahma suggested him to do worldly duties in mood of devotion.

1. So it was not clear how king Priyavratan made a decision as both Narada Muni and Lord Brahma are exalted devotees of the Lord.

2.In a holistic view the end goal of both the advice is same but the path taken is different, so does that mean as long as our motivation is to please the Lord it does not matter which decisions we make?

In the Bhagavatam audios, swamy has mentioned :

Lord Brahma told king Priyavratan that it is Priyavratan’s duty to carry out worldly duties as per Perumal. Hence, the king accepted and also Naradhar allowed him.

Hence, there is no any question of taking a decision arise.

Dhanyosmi swami, naradhar left the place before Lord Brahma adviced, that was mentioned in the audio, did I miss to hear some part?

I don’t remember about that. But I heard Naradhar’s acceptance of Lord Brahma’s advice to the king.

There is also a saying that Naradar got a shapam from Brahma/PrajApathi (don’t remember name) to can’t stay in one place because he keeps interfering in evolutionary process like reproduction.

So Naradar is tri loka sanchAri.

Renunciation & evolution are exactly two opposites. You can’t be in both. Sanath KumArAs also I believe took to Perumal due to Narada’s advice & did not involve in reproduction as advised by Brahma so he got angry.

Naradar = Moksham shortcut

I believe in reproduction not in renunciation. If we are an outcome of a reproductive process what rights we got to break the leelA Vibhuthi cycle?

Nama pirakalAm , mathavA pirakka kudAthA?

Dhanyosmi swami, thanks for your thoughts..but the emphasis of the thread was on general decision making process when we have 2 or more different advice from 2 or more persons who are all devoted, like in the example above.

With NaradA’s blessings
Mara Mara became Rama Rama

With BrahmA’s blessings
MAnishAda became a mangala ShlOkam

All are BhAgavathAs Perumal listens to all of them & makes the wrong right
