Can we speak spirituality to people who harass us?

Namaskaarams of Adiyen to Shri U.Ve.Krishnan Swamy.

Adiyen is abroad on a deputation with few of my friends. Adiyen always like to speak on God and scriptures. But, other friends here are not interested in these.

They keep making fun of everything but asks questions as if they are serious.

For example, we have to get up at 3.45 am everyday, have breakfast by 5.30 am and leave to office by 6 am.

One of our colleagues didn’t get sleep every night fearing that he may miss the bus. Adiyen told him about mind, buddhi etc. Adiyen told him to develop courage by saying to his mind, “What will happen if I miss the bus? They are not going to kill me. At the maximum one day salary will be cut. So, nothing to worry even if I sleep.”

Adiyen said, “by thinking so, you will infact get good sleep and there will be no necessity to take leave also. Everything is about how we tune our mind.” He followed, had good sleep every night and punctually got up in the morning.

Few days passed and Adiyen told him that I had to climb a 70 m ladder as a part of my job. Getting back down was bit tough. He said, “You always say everything is in mind and how we think. Why don’t you think, nothing will happen in mind and jump from the top?”

How to deal such Kudarkavaadis? They listen to scriptures, make use of it, but at last harass the person who try to help them.

Bagavad Ramanujar shown us that good things to be shared to all impartially, by spreading Ashtakshara Mantra from top of temple tomb at Thirukkoshtiyur.

In this 2018, can we speak about God and scriptures to everyone who ask about them or should we look for some basic qualifications before speaking?

Devarir’s speech on, “Can a Baktha get irritated?” gave me a great relaxation, strength and courage to handle these people. I felt as if Swamy posted this for Adiyen when it was much required.

Adiyen request Swamy to advise people Adiyen, if we have to constantly answer such people and help them irrespective of harassment or should Adiyen maintain a distance from them?

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

“Why don’t you think, nothing will happen in mind and jump from the top” – He is right. It’s not a kudarka vaadam according to adiyen.

What happened to Prahladan when he fell?

It’s not about the mind alone but the one who is there in mind

Sarvam Sri KrishnArpanam asthu

Velukkudi Swamy used to tell a story, a guy fell into 200 feet well and before he jumped he sweared “If Veda is true let it save me” he got slight scratches and came out. Why he got slight scratches? Because he said “If veda is true” he should have jumped saying “Veda is true let it save me”.

Even the slightest doubt causes issues.

Hare Krishna! Aneha koti namaskaram to Sri Velukkudi swami & devotees.

Bhagavad Gita 18.65 — Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend.

Bhagavad Gita 18.66 — Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.

Bhagavad Gita 18.67 — This confidential knowledge may never be explained to those who are not austere, or devoted, or engaged in devotional service, nor to one who is envious of Me.

Namaskaram,

From what I heard from great acharyas discourses, we should not take the task of spreading scriptures especially when we are in the initial stage.  As Sri Velukkudi also advised in Enpani that we should create contacts with senior devotees so that they can clarify us in case of doubts and be in satsang.  The more we engage in devotional activities and be happy, we will be attracting even the normal person and non devotees and they will be diverted from the material things.

Jumping from the ladder is like small adventure.  Tell your friends adventures are not allowed as per Sastra.

In short, when we are around materialistic people or non devotees we have to say hi etc and carry on our duties of reading scriptures and other kainkaryam, seeing us they should start.  Until they realize the taste, they will not join us.  We have to be a role model.  Nobody likes advice.

Namaskaram

Dear all,

Thank you all for response. It’s not like to like Adiyen’s case because the person who sought advise is very elder than Adiyen. However, Adiyen can understand that Swamy will give speeches that is common for all.

Yes. Adiyen can relate this audio to above case and have lot of take away from it. Especially the last few words, “Our wisdom is very important. If some body seeks advise themself, we can give but not try to ensure that they follow it”. Adiyen really got the solution that is required from this audio.

Aneka Koti Namaskarams to Shri U.Ve. Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy. You are very approachable and kind to all. With your blessings and advise, Adiyen is very sure that any tough situation can be crossed.

Thank you very much for immediate response.
