Swamy,

If someone does wrong to us (due to our karma), if something bad happens to them, we hear the news, we feel happy naturally. We shouldn’t feel happy for anyone’s failure even if it is our enemy according to SriVaishnavam is my understanding. Enemy in the sense the wrongdoer.

Perumal is punishing them for doing wrong to us or it is also Karma and we have nothing to do with it?

How to handle such incidents Swamy?

we feel happy naturallyFrom vikraminside

It depends on our svabhava (nature). If we have a vaishnava svabhava like Koorathaazhwaan or Yudhishtirar, then our natural reaction will be to rejoice if what is happening is good for the other person, and feel sorry if what is happening is bad for the other person. Good = that which brings a person closer to Perumal; bad = that which makes a person move away from Perumal.

If our ‘natural’ reaction is different from the above, then we can pray to change our natural reaction to that of a vaishnava’s reaction.

Srimate Raamanujaye Namaha,

Kambandasan swamy, Yes I agree with the answer you have indicated. But I have a related question.

In many circumstances it is very difficult to know if a situation is bringing a person closer to Perumaal or not.. For example in materially comforting and desirable situations – there are 2 possibilities – one may be grateful to Perumaal and may become closer or one may enjoy the benefits and forget Perumaal. Similarly, in materially difficult circumstances – one  may depend on Perumaal for help or one may be unhappy that Perumaal is not reducing one’s karma.

In our own case we may be able to know what is the internal disposition in each circumstance, but for others we may not be able to ascertain ( in many scenarios)  their internal disposition, and perhaps should not.. then how do we know if a situation is bringing one closer to Perumaal or away?

How that soul reacts depends on how that individual applies freewill. Even Perumal does not interfere with that.

So, we can only pray for that person and move on. Such prayers can bring them good; but more than that, we will not go deeper in our negative feelings towards them!

Was Krimi kanda Cholan forgiven the same way as NAloorAn?

I have not heard about that from any acharya / authentic source.

My guess based on knowing Swamy Kooraththaazhwaan’s nature is that he would have definitely forgiven kk-chozhan for the harm caused to him. However, he may not have forgiven the fact that kk-chozhan was intent on harming Udaiyavar. But Udaiyavar would have forgiven that; Udaiyavar may even have given kk-c some credit for paving way for his services at Melkot!

Let us ask them when we meet them very soon (just at the end of this lifetime).

Once one reach there, gyanam will be expanded. One will get the answer himself. Above all, should one bother about the reply to this when he reaches there?.

Of course Swamy! once there, our eagerness to know about our acharyas and details their kainkaryam also expands! So, we will ask them this and lot more details! 🙂 They will lovingly tell us.

Just like grandchildren eagerly surround grandparents and eagerly and lovingly enquire about their life experiences.

And, even if we know the answer to some extent, we will want to hear more, directly from them. We are not going there to simply keep quiet and mind our own business. We are going there to hear and discuss endlessly about the glories of Perumal and His great devotees.

Just like, here we repeatedly hear upanyasams on the same topic with increasing relish, there also we will eagerly hear from them to know deeper and deeper about His glories and His devotees’ glories.

Thank you swamy.

My response was based on my understanding that one’s gyanam is completely expanded on reaching.

I did listened to vaikunta gadyam sometime back. This has opened a new topic to know about the life at Srivaikuntam, besides the kainkaryam to Perumal. May be adiyen will initiate a thread soon.
