Sri:

When Adiyen used to walk from one bus stop to another, used to listen Velukkudi Swamy’s UpanyAsam. The mrith pindam example (man urundai) example Swamy used to keep on repeating to signify nimitha kAraNam, upAdAna kAraNam, sahakAri kAraNam and say from that (moola Prakruthi) came the creation. So from Brahmam the creation. He himself self manifested. Like father like son. No wonder Ranganathan Swamy gave so much emphasis on those points repeatedly.

So when I think of mrith pindam creation. It reminds of the days I walk in the Bustop platform and see the sky.

I can remember mrith pindam but not the bus stop name while telling to my mother.

Then gave a pause suddenly came the Bus Stop name “SRP Tools” from somewhere as if it was hidden and got uncovered. As there being a disconnect to my present memory and retrieval process.

Adiyen was wondering, is there a possibility to retrieve memories that were not heard of? May be this janma or from previous janma? (If vAsanAs can come all way along why can’t memory?) Or Something that has been never heard before?

If vAsanAs can come all way along why can’t memory? From vikraminside

‘Vasana’ actually refers to such encoded memory. It is because of my memory of liking somethings in the past (vasana) I like those things now; because of my memory of disliking / being afraid of, something in the past I dislike or I am afraid of the same thing  now. For example, some people are afraid of heights; this is because of some terrible experience in past birth; we can call this ‘vasana’ or ‘memory from past birth’; both mean the same.

Some individuals are detached from material possessions and material enjoyment right from childhood; their vairagya is quite high even when they begin this life. We can call this ‘vasana’ from past life; or we can say they have subtle memory of knowledge acquired in previous life regarding the futitily of material posessions and material enjoyment.

Along this line of thinking, I guess (just my guess) it can be considered that individuals like our swamy carry forward their memory of scriptures from past life; they just need a brief refresher in this life and the whole memory is readily downloaded and accessible. They have not misused their memory in the past life to remember useless things; hence the uncontaminated memory easily carries forward.

adiyen earlier raised a query regarding reading of sacred texts and whether the knowledge gained through these texts will be carried by the atman when it leaves the body in the following thread.

The related audio is enpani audio # 1804.

Sri Udaiyavar, Swamy

Finally, we should understand a very important point. As we understand/believe that, “we get mOksham purely by our relationship to our AchArya irrespective of our gyAnam and anushtAnam”, the same way “we will fall down to the bottom of samsAram purely by our apachAram to a SrIvaishNava irrespective of our gyAnam and anushtAnam”.
