Bhagavan knows Past, Present & Future

Hare Krishna! Aneha koti namaskaram to the lotus feet of Sri Velukkudi Swami and the devotees.

 

May be its a repetitive question but still need some help with few ‘specific’ aspect of this question. This question came up during a discussion at office and Adiyen could not give convincing answer.

 

Bhagavan knows past, present & future, in which case how do we define the ‘swathanthriyam’ of Jiva ?

 

Considering, Bhagavan will know the future (of all Jivas in leela vibuthi) based on Jiva’s karma and the (material) choices we make in this world, will Bhagavan also know ‘when’ a Jiva will surrender to him ?

If true, how do we define ‘swathanthriyam’ given to Jiva ?

If false, how do we understand ‘Bhagavan knows future’ ?

Dear Bhakta,

 

Keeping Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami ThiruvAdi & Acharyan ThiruvAdi on adiyens Head, adiyen will try to explain based on adiyens understanding from Upanyasams.

 

BhagavAn “KNOWS” everything is different from BhagavAn “INFLUENCE” everything.

 

Adiyen would like to refer the “Vali Vadham” story from Srimad Ramayanam in refrence to Bhaktas question, which will provide some clarity on “JeevAThmas “Swathantriyam (Independently Dependant on BhagavAn), though BHagavAn creates the intial Platform for the Leelai GAME . Many of us know the General reason, as why SriRama killed Vaali using a Bow & Arrow from behind the bushes instead of face to face fight, while Sugreeva & Vali were fighting.

But there is a “SOOKSHMAM (in-depth” Real Reason) which adiyen has heard in Upanyasam, and adiyen will share the same in relation to Bhaktas question.

Here is the TRUE Vaali Vadham from Upanyasam

 

a. Ravan intially abducted the Deva Sthrees (Deva ladies) and was keeping as Captive in Lanka. So, other Devas and other Deva Sthrees got feared and did Sharanagathy on Sri Lakshmi Thayar and Perumal in Thirupaar Kadal (Vyuha Vasudevan) to save themselves and save the ones who are already captive in Lanka.

b. Since Ravan was OVER-Confident on his Boon, he didnot ask for getting killed by a Manushya, and he ignored that Manushya can kill him.

c. Also, Ravan had a past shappam with Vanaraas.

Due to these primary reasons, Thayar & Perumal took SriRama & Sita avatar as “Manushya” hiding their Parathvam to release the Deva Sthree hostages from Ravan and used Vanaraas for their Leelai.

So, in order to accomplish the task, Thayar wants to go in to the Ravan’s den, and then let SriRama come and rescue her. Hence, all the Pattabhishekam drama and SriRama exile to forest along with Thayar etc…plus Ravan (JeevAThma) is also one the Karya Vaikunta Dwara palakar who received Shaapam from Brahma’s sons Sanath Kumarargal as we know, plus to show Vibhishana Sharanagathy for future genertaions and Rama Sethu for Bhaktas to cherish etc.. So, there are many aspects for SriRama Avatram (Oru Kallila Pala Maagai, One Stone many Mangoes).

 

Now the characters are sketched by Thayar-Perumal,

Indra as Vaali role, Surya as Sugrive role, Vayu as Hanumam role etc……………

Now, we can say Perumal-Thayar “KNOWS” everything that they planned, but here is the twist. The Indra as Vaali “MISUSED” his Jeeva Swathantriyam during the SriRama Avatar as follows.

1) Vaali didnot believe in Sugreeva when he explained why he closed the cave with rock when Vaali and Dhundhoobhi were fighting. Vaali thought Sugreeva betrayed him inorder get his thrown, when Sugreeva was honest in explaining his act of closing teh cave with stone. Rather, Vaali beat Sugreeva and tried to kill him and Sugreeva ran out of the kingdom to recuse his life. This is Vaali mistake without analysing the factors.

2) Vaali spent his life with his brothers wife, which is next mistake.

3) When Ravan was crossing in sky over Vaali’s thrown abducting Sita Devi, it is the responsiilbty of the King of that Thrown to establish Dharma, but Vaali didnot do anything. Vaali (Indra in Vaanara form) was capable of defeating Ravan. There is a incident in Ramayan that Ravan was calling-up on Vaali to fight, when Vaali was doing Sandhya Vandhanam. At that time, inroder for Vaali to finish his Sandhya Vandhanam, he took Ravan with his hands put him in his OKKUL (between his hand and body) and told him to keep quite for a while, till he finishes Sandhaya Vandhanam. Ravan was terrified with this incident. So, Vaali is capable of fighting with Ravan, but he kept quite during the abduction.

SriRama plan was to utilize the Vaali’s Vaanara Senai (army) along with Sugreeva to defeat Ravan. But due to these unneccessary activities of Vaali (Indra as Vaanara) deviating from the plan (Misused the Swanthantriyam), BhagavAN had to make a change in plan. Means Kill Vaali and make Sugreeva as King, so BhagavAn can continue the plan to Retrieve Sita and the outcome of Deva Sthrees getting released will be achieved.

“Hence, like in Stage Drama that we see in real life , if one person “X” plays a character as harichandran (Only talks truth) in the 1st drama, then the same person “X” in the 2nd drama suppose to play as as “theif”, and if he mixes the dialogues of the 1st drama as harichandran into the 2nd drama which is a theif character, then the Director of the Drama shows some hand signs standing on the side of the stage to the “X” person to change dialogue. If the “X” person continues mistakes, then the director had to interfere without disturbing the audience by putting the screen for a second, and TAKE-OUT the “X” person by pulling his collar from stage, since he is telling harichandran dialogues in the “thief” character drama without following the Directors Script.

This is exactly what SriRama (Director) did by taking out Vaali (“X” person) by sending an arrow from behind the bushes without disturbing the audience, since BhagavAn plan didnot include Vaali Vadham (hence, BhagavAn did not do FACE-TO-FACE fight with Vaali), but He had to do still kill Vaali (by taking out of the Stage) in this way, since Vaali was not doing what he was suppose to do, instead he was fighting with this brother and not following Perumal Protocal Leelai that HE planned. If Vaali would have followed the protocol correctly, then SroRama with Vaali senai along with Sugreeva would have continued in search of Sita”.

 

This is the SOOKSHMAM (in-depth” Real Reason) for Vaali Vadham.

Now, we know, HOW Perumal “KNOWS” everything PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE as per HIS plan, but “HE doesnot “INFLUENCE” everything, since BhagavAn expects the JeevAThmas to utilize its SWATHANTRIYAN (Independenatly Dependant on Bhagavan) and act/do correctly (means follow Shastras what HE has said us to do, Means follow SriRama’s MIND).

With Acharya Ramanuja Krupai and Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Anugraham, we are Sharanagathas, and we all (Hwo has AAsai) to get Ramanuja Sambhandham gets the right knowledge to do DO SHARANGATHY as per SriRama’s ThiruUllam (MIND), and further ParamaPadham SriVaikuntam for Nithya Kainkaryam in same birth.

 

Basically, Utilizing our Jeeva Swamtharityam in a Proper way by following/doing “Sharanagathy Margam” rather than misusing it or doing it differently by following Karma-Gyana-Bhakthi Yoga margam (Upasana-Japam margam) which takes longer time, may take many janmas to reach SriVaikuntam.

Sri Ramnunaja Namaha,

By the time we exercise our free will , we make sankalpa in mind, then Lord has to allow and sanction , so in this way HE knows the future ahead itself.

But if we see holistically, on a larger picture, if we discuss on “When” we will surrender and return, there is a time frame for the event in the material world, but there is no timestamp in spiritual world.. so for spiritual world there is no present past or future…nor do we actually exercise our  free will  in spiritual world.. in spiritual world we exercise our free will to surrender our free will :)-

only in material world, time exists and we make choices by free will.. the events happen by Karma mostly and in small percentage by Direct Grace of Lord. IF it is by karma, LOrd knwo the future already, if it is by Lord’s grace then also Lord knows the future.

So there are multiple paths or subtrees (of events)  available based on our choices..Lord knows what will happen in each path or choice…so Lord Knows the future possibility if we choose option A and he also knows future possibility if we choose option B. So in both cases he knows future, we still have a choice..so there is no conflict in Lord Knowing the future and our choices.

In short, as we make dynamic choices, the dyanamic future is also know to the Lord.

Good one swami, Adiyen shared the same view with colleagues during the discussion but this is deep subject for beginners like Adiyen so would like to close the discussion with below slokas.

Bg 11.33 — Therefore get up. Prepare to fight and win glory. Conquer your enemies and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. They are already put to death by My arrangement, and you, O Savyasācī, can be but an instrument in the fight.
 
Bg 11.34 — Droṇa, Bhīṣma, Jayadratha, Karṇa and the other great warriors have already been destroyed by Me. Therefore, kill them and do not be disturbed. Simply fight, and you will vanquish your enemies in battle.

Adiyen feel all long term milestones are set by PerumAl. Only short term dancing done by us. Former -By Sarva Thantra Swathanthran and latter by Jeeva swAthanthriyam.

Technically adiyen don’t think anything as Jeeva swAthanthriyam as we tribute everything to the act of God in every minute of our life.

Swami’s says Draupadhi Vastra haranam incident in both perspectives, if we consider as pre-determined or Non pre-determined, in both cases, how Govinda Naamaas worship was needed for protection for the Body or for Athma.

 

We can apply same answer as Swamis says, by changing the topic from “If Pre-determined, then Why Workship” to topic as “If BhagaVan knows, Present, Past, Future, then Why Sharanagathy”.

Using the Jeeva Swanthantriyam, by doing Sharanagathy Maargam  on Acharyan Lotus Feet to get Ramanuja Sambhandham, SriKrishna ‘The SUPREME’ grants Moksham in Same birth as confirmed by SriRangam Nam-Perumal (Gadhya Trayam Grantham), instead of following the Upasana Maargam (Karma-Gyana-Bhakthi Maargam) that takes many Janmas, ONLY if we follow it correctly as per Shastras/Varna Ashramams.
