Namaskaram Sri Velukkudi Swamin,

For a prapannan, does the place where the end comes matter? If this place is outside of punya bhoomi, will the prapannan still attain moksham?

Srimatey Ramanujaya Namaha,

If the place where we leave our body matters, then place becomes the upaya and not Bhagavan.

Swamy Periya Nambigal, Ramanuja’s acharya was about to leave this world. He along with Swamy Kuraththaazhvan and Periya Nambigal’s daughter Aththuzhai was nearing Srirangam. Swamy Periya Nambigal’s daughter suggested her father to control his pain for some time so that they can reach srirangam where swamy can leave his mortal body. But swamy disagreed to that and said, ” If I reach srirangam and leave my body there, then people would think srirangam (place) is the upaya. so I will not come there and rather leave my body here itself thinking of my achaarya, Swamy Alavandaar”. Saying so, that is exactly what he did.

so it is very clear that it is because of Achaarya’s anugraham and Bhagavan’s nirhetuka krupai that one gets liberated and not because of staying in a place / leaving our mortal body there.
