Sri Ramanuja Munaye Namaha,

Beautiful reference from Swami’s upanyasam.

Please also explain the actual meaning of ‘Ahankaram’ and ‘ Mamakaram’. The popular usage of Ahankaram is Garvam/Ahambhavam. But the true sanskrit meaning is different. So please share the meaning from Swami’s Pravachanams.

Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami ThiruvAdigalaey Thanjam,
Sarvam Sri Krishna kudumbham

Mamakaaram- thinking everything should belong to one self
Ahankaaram – thinking that one self is the creator paramathma, thinking everything happened or created because of the reason of oneself and not by paramaathma

I should apologize to sriiman narayana for even saying those words
Karacharanukratham vaakayajam va karmajam va sravana nayanajam va manasam va baraathaam vihithama vihitham va sarva medath kshamashva jaya jaya karunapthe sriiman narayana

Ahankaram = Naan
Mama karam = Ennudaya

After coma when one wakes up
“Naa yaaru enga irukken”?
Ahankaram

En peyar , en veedu , en udambu
Mamakaram

That is the context

In some news channel they improperly introduce themselves as:
Seidhigal vaasippadhu naan Thamizhselvan

Naan Thamizhselvan thavaru (naan is not name it’s the soul)
En peyar Thamizhselvan Seri ( soul bears the name for time being)

This is practical usage of spirituality.

Sri Ramanuja Muneya Namaha,

Sri Dasarathiye Namaha,

Sri Vaelukkudi Krishnan Guruvae Namaha,

Dear Bakthas,

Nice conversations. Yes, partially the explantions are correct for Ahankaram and Mamakaram.

Here is what Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami says in one of HIS upanyasams based on a PoorvAcharyar “Thirumalai Jeeyar Swami” vaakyam which is originally referenced from Shastram.

Ahankaram is a “Chandaalan” (Romba mosam aanavan ‘very bad fellow’).

Mamakaram is the “Chandaalan’s wife (Bhaaryai)

Raagam (Viruppu ‘like’) and Dwehsam (Veruppu ‘dislike’) , both are Mamakarams’ children.

So, ‘Ahankaram’ is the base which instigates ‘Maamkaram’ which inturn leads to ‘Raagam/Dwesham’.

What is ‘Ahankaram’

– “Anahatthai Ahamaaga Ninaitthal”.

 Anaham: means Shareeram (‘Aham’ alladhadhu).

 Aham: means Athma

Anaham’aana Shareerathai Aham (Athma) yendru ninaithal. Adhu dhaan ‘Ahankaram’.

– Shareeram vera Athma vera yendru ninaikkaamal, Intha Sharrerathai, Athma endru ninaithal. Ethai thaan ‘Anhankaram’ yendru solluvom.

– Instead of Thinking Body is sepearte & Athma is seperate, we think the ‘Body’ itslef is ‘Athma’ and keep satisfying all needs just for body and forget about ourselves ‘ATHMA’. This is called ‘Ahankaram’.

What is ‘Mamakaram’

– Mama: means ‘Yennudaya-Yennudaya’ yendru ninaithal.

-Eventually, due to Ahankaram (Considering the Body itself is Athma), results in satisfying bodily needs to FULL extent. So, Shareerathai (Body’yai) “Nizhalil vaithu vittu, Athma’vai Veyilil vaikiroam”.

–  Ulagathil Paarpadhu yellaam “yennadhu-yennadhu yendru ninaithal”, adhan pinnal poi vidugiroam. Adhu Dhaan Mamakaram.

– We start thinking, I need all the Materialistic things that will satisfy my body. This is called ‘Mamakaram’.

– All nice air condition, comfortable multiple homes, luxury car, lavish money, servants, 1hr walking and 3 hrs rest/sleeping, all for our body, but no use to Athma. And we keep Athma AWAY from “BhagavAt Vishaya Gyanam and Kainkaryam”. NO Spiritual studies and NO Kainkaryams for BhagavAn/Acharyan/Bhagavatas.

– When Mamakaram exists, eventually, then  “RAAGAM” (Viruppu ‘Likes’) starts developing and we start focussing on those interrests that will statify our Mamakaram. Virumbhinathai adaya vidaamal thaduppadhin melaey DWESHAM (Veruppu ‘Dislikes’) vaipadhu.

– This Raagam and Dwesham is the cause of all problems that we see around in our day to day life within family or in society.

In summary,

– Ahankram is the base ROOT CAUSE, which instigates the Mamakram, which inturn develops Raagam and Dwesham.

– So, we need to remove ‘Ahankaram’ (NOT to consider Body and Athma are same) by continously improving Bhagavat Vishaya Gyanam and doing Bhagavat/Acharya/Bhagavat kainkaryams.

– When Ahankaram is Removed, eventually Mamakaram is Pathivratha Sthree (Devoted Wife of Ahankaram) dies.

–  When Mamakaram dies, then both the childrens Raagam & Dwesham also dies without getting mothers milk.

Thats is why BhagavAn & Acharyas & our Swami always says, we JeevathmAs should GET-RID of Ahakaram and Mamakram, since it is not good for Jeevathma Swaroopa Gyanam.

Adiyen Sri Velukkudi Krishna Dasan,

Adiyen Acharya Dasan,

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan,

Rukmini Thayar Samedha SriKrishna BhagavAn ki Jai
