🌿Srimathe ramanujaya namaha🌿

(this is my personal understanding. I haven’t heard this kind of an analogy from any acharya. So, please take this with a pinch of salt)

In a campus-interivew for job, if the company’s representative is pleased with us and recommends us for the job, we get a confirmed offer from the company. But still we have to complete the college life and do the courses properly. We can use this time to learn some of the important skills required for the job.

Similarly, when our acharyan accepts our Saranagathi and recommends us to Perumal, we get a confirmed ‘mosha’ offer. Nevertheless we have to complete the prarabhda karma in this life. In the meanwhile we can use the time to learn from our acharyan what are the qualities required to execute kainkaryam properly when we reach Vaikuntha.

Sundara Ramanuja swamy, namaskaram.

On a lighte side, suppose if Perumal granted such instant moksha as described by you, at what age do you think we would have approached our acharyan swamy for Saranagathi? 🙂

you are an exception Sundara Ramanuja swamy!! People like me would have tried to do as much sins as possible and then when the final moment comes and nearly brain-dead, ask acharyan swamy for Saranagathi!!!

Srimate Ramanujaye  Namaha!

Interesting question and also interesting answer given by Kambandasan swamy.

To add other perspectives to the discussion.. what Swami said in enpani 1796 (or you tube video no 1795) may be relevant in this discussion also.. though having no karma is a requirement for moksha, desire to serve is also a requirement for being in vaikunta.

Secondly, instant moksha if given will baffle atheists and they will not be able to continue to exercise their free will and say that God does not exist.

Thirdly, we may do many things which ought not to be done and and to escape that we may want moksha , instead of really wanting to serve.

Also in another angle, for a surrendered soul, even if he is physically here, he is actually liberated from the effects of karma in the sense that whatever happens, out of his past karma, he is able to remain focused in his devotion and service to Perumaal. In that sense such a surrendered devotee is already in Vaikunta (place of no anxiety).

Kambandasan swamy: In placement offers, some companies give offer letter with clauses attached..”subject to not having arrears in the upcoming semester etc..” are such clauses applicable in this case as well?

Refer En pani audio #1135 where Velukkudi swami speaks about vasana immediately after surrender. I happened to listen yesterday.

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha!

Jayaram , swami, thanks for linking this discussion to Enpani audio 1135.. it is very much relevant  and answers the questions in this thread..interestingly you have heard it yesterday..:)-

Swami explained in 1135 that after one does sharangathy, sanchita karma, (that which we have gained over past lives and still will take time to fructify) and also the karma which may cause future births.. both of these will get eradicated.. but the karma associated to be experienced in this birth remains until the end of the life.. So not all karma is eradicated but lot of karma is eradicated after sarangathy.

Swami, then explained that if one after sharangathy ,one continues to have repeated non-recommended speech or action, and also does not develop the desire to serve Perumaal, then the time to reach Vaikunta may be delayed..and may be few more births as necessary ( not due to past karma but due to our actions and behavior after Sarangathy).

(Kambandasan swamy: so the query i raised above is not a limitation in your example, it is indeed applicable in both the cases.. but whether the company will accept a degraded student is in question, but a devotee who has done sharangathy will be accepted, but the time frame may vary as swami has explained in #1135)

Towards the end of the audio swami lists some general key things to be followed before saranagathy or atleast after saranagathy

  • Strong desire and faith in Bhagawaan
  • Doing worldly activities as a duty not due to liking
  • Regular in nityaanushtaanam
  • Refinement in mind(thought), speech and action and also avoiding harsh speech action and thoughts
  • Sense control
  • Avoiding any form of criticism and running away form places where criticism is being spoken.
  • Ahara niyamam

Thank you.

This is the relevant link for another query on ‘vasana’ on this site. I put up only here, since I do not want to duplicate the answer. You have indicated it there. Fine.

enpanifan,

I really appreciate the efforts put in by you for almost transcribing the speech. Well done.

Namaskaram Swami

Want to share what I learned today from Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Periya Thirumozhi Kalakshepam, therein in the Mudal Pathu, Aaram Padigam wherein Thirumangai Azhwar performed first saranagati unto the lotus feet of Naimisharanya Emperuman, while doing so Azhwar felt guilty over his past acts and  Sri Periya Vachan Pillai( Vyakhyana Chakravati) in his Vyakhyanam cites a very beautiful example, which is directly linked to every saranagata after performing Saranagati and i.e when Vibhishanan left Ravana’s side or faction which is Dur sangam and came to get Ashrayam unto Sri Rama, when reached where Rama was seated, he was in the air waiting untill he was joined with Sri Rama’ s Goshti Sat Sangam, so, it means for every Saranagata when the date comes he will join Sri Hari and untill that it is just like Vibhishana standing and waiting in the air, happy only to the extent of having left the Dur sangam (to take Samsara Attachments) and Bliss when the time comes to join Sri Vaikuntam.

There are 2 main points in this for a saranagata to understand after having done Saranagati

1 To be Guilty conscious of what has been commited earlier

2 I am so Neechan to get a place in Sri Vaikuntam but it is Sri Hari’s Vatsalyam, Aoudaryam, Saranagata Vatsalan that I will be reaching his abode.

These meanings are of Parakalan and Sri Periya Vachan Pillai in his Vyakhyanam.

Namaskaram!

Haven’t we heard from Velukkudi Swami that we can only sacrifice our punya karmas to bhagawan and seek moksham.

Paapa karmas cannot be offered to bhagawan but would continue to come with us.

-Adiyen

Namaskaram Swami

Its true that we offer all the Knowingly or unknowingly done Punya Karmas everyday by reciting the following Sloka( Kayenuvacha manasindreva……) however as u said we should not and can’t offer any Papam Karmas to the lord, moreover we should not knowingly commit any, if in case unknowingly done one and after some time if we get to know of it then we can do Paschyatappam and ask for forgiveness from Bhagwan with a firm resolve of not to do it the next time. Moreover when a Saranagata has to reach Sri Vaikuntam at the last of this particular birth then certainly his Karmas has to be exhausted for this bhagwan is Swatantran and benevolent enough to exhaust it either in the dreams or with minimum pain or if in case the anguish is quite heavy then it is also good for a saranagata in order to develop Vairagyam from the Samsara.
