Namaskaram Swami,

I want your opinion on how to practice and follow Ekadesi in college hostel, even if followed, then the next day certainly by 8:30 to do parayanam and break the fast with the prescribed meals only, if not followed then will it be shastra virudham and apart from this also suggest me over how to consume the hostel food ( Rajas and Tamas) in mind?????

Adiyen also face same issues begin in hostel. In home satvika food after bagavat aradhanam is part taken, but most of the days in year we spend in hostels and ‘satvika agaram’ becomes something not available!
@velukudi swamy can throw some light on this, it will be helpful for all to decide on such situations.

Dhanyosmi,
Shamikka prathikiren!

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha!

Very inspiring to see youth with such dedication and faith in sanatana dharma.

Until we wait for Swami’s answer here is a link to a related video.

posted this earlier inside an existing alternate thread and i had referred him to this video of swami’s lecture in youth development program where one of the participating devotee raised the same question. I repost it here for Seshadri swamy’s reference as well..

You can watch the whole video and the 20+ parts linked to it..but the specific question comes in 14th minute , 13.30 or so.

Summary: Swami said if it long term scenario,  it is better to a take a house with cooking facilities and cooking is a skill which brahmacharis must also learn :)-

Namaskaram Swami

Adiyen do remember your suggestions but since through Devarir’s Sahayam, Adiyen was able to find the way of how to post it as a new thread so that it could come in light of Krishnan Swami and if he could share his thoughts over it, by this so many Bhaktas like Seshadri swamy, Adiyen and many others for whom food in some other place is a temporary phenonmena could follow his suggestion would be of great help, and certainly what Devarir has suggested would certainly  can be followed and Adiyen will try the same to the extent possible.

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha
Let’s do Pariseshanam and eat. Wherever possible. It makes Anna shuddhi. Steps available in youtube.

Also if we have thiru thuzhai we can do dwadasi pAraNai.

Remember Ambareesha BhAgavatha completed his fast using this technique.

Please pray to Perumal. He may arrange some way for you to get home prepared prasadam atleast on Dwadasi mornings; may be even one of your teachers / staff, or some Sri Vaishnava in a near by temple  may be willing to provide this arrangement. If something like that comes through, grab that special blessing bestowed upon you. No sangojam in doing that.

Adiyen @vikram and @Kambadasan swami and other Bhagwatas, noted your suggestions and thanked Bhagwan immediately after reading it, of giving such an opportunity to even discuss such things and getting the right ,intrested, curious, and, concerned responses .

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha,

@Ramanuja- Parakalandasan swamy, reiterating what was shared for interest of  other members.. some minimal prasadam can be got every day by offering some fruits to Perumaal in your room. ( I am referring this for normal prasadam on normal days not specifically for Dwadasi paarayanam)

Swamin,

Namaskaaram.

In some hostels (institute – based), I have noted they keep separately dhaal, boiled vegetables (these do not contain onion, garlic), apart from regular ones – Kuzhambu, Rasam, etc that are likely to contain onion, garlic. So one may initiate such a procedure in hostel, through mess committee.- this is concerning how to go about having saatvic food in such institute environment – Just a thought.

Namaskaram.

I am just gonna state what I have been taught from my childhood by my mother and it is as simple as it can get during the above situations… What I have been taught is to say “Krishnarpanamasthu” in your mind and then eat which literally means what it says i.e., I am offering it to Lord krishna before I eat…

If there is something wrong forgive me.

Adiyen,
“Krishnarpanam asthu” is fine but its so generic From our part atleast we have to think of taking some steps towards following few basics..

Adiyen,
If u get the answer to the question from velukkudi swamy or anyone then sure we can all follow, but if there is no said way to follow, all we can do is say “Krishnarpanam asthu” Even if it is generic.
